  1. I had a friend who didnt kill a mob for 8 months while he was busy being a player city leader in SWG. All he did was govern the affairs of his city and he loved it...
  2. grind mentality. I can think of games back when, where people stayed the same level for months because what they enjoyed doing, and more importantly, what the game offered didn't require a specific level or gear... every MMO has had the opportunity to grind. I'm simply saying (badly obviously) the majority (in my experience) back before WOW, didnt feel the need...
  3. no one is saying it is. Simply saying that's one game that had viable horizontal game play.
  4. im a little past GCSE economics.... but you seriously think a game 5 years in development that cost $200 million would be considered a financial failure if it hasn't clawed that money back in a month? that's what your being taught?
  5. No power levelling, no grind, no gear tier, no concept of a content end or reaching reward limits. It was about living and existing in a world with others... Even pretty recent games like SWG, I had a friend who created her own prefession. She was an interior designer. You gave her the keys to your new pad, some credits and came back in a week to a palace. Every room kitted out to perfection... MMO's used to stimulate so much more than horizonal, linear, reward based mentalities..
  6. Hi, i use one of these http://steelseries.com/products/keyboards/steelseries-merc that gaming setup on the left works great, I could never go back to a basic keyboard layout. the two tight rows of action keys, the thumb jump and the tight nest of keys around it means I never take my right hand off the mouse and never need to look what my left is pressing no matter how fast or what the key combo. auto run, mount. heals , target enemey/companion, etc I have set on the mouse naga buttons here. http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_GB/pd/productID.169418900/categoryId.54536600
  7. I completely agree. especially about the cun n' paste space station design. 1st time I got to Tat I was thinking ***, the space station and Cantina are like on the last planet, just with more yellow in the color scheme.. just f*(king lazy. If travel between planets means we engaged with unique vendor's, characters, quest givers or any kind of random events that make the trip interesting, I'd put up with it. As this whole game is built from the same 20 cookie cutter templates, travel is nothing more than a mind numbing zero immersion time sink...
  8. you are crazy if you think not being able to skip dialogue would have been a good idea. the forums would have been full of people having issues with Head North and kill quests that come with 5 minutes of unnecessary chatter.. personally I think more than a space bar was needed. I would had liked to a see a tick box in the settings that allows you to toggle side quests between voice and normal texts quests. Voice should only have been for the main class story. Bioware then could have monitored how many players have skip side quest voice enabled. and used this to judge if the massive expense is worth it going forward. maybe if they left voice just to the class stories they might have finished the MMO part of the game rather than the unrealised one dimensional mess we actually have.
  9. probably won't renew again.. whats wrong with the game that disappoints me cannot and will not get fixed. It's the gerenral lazy world design and the cookie cutter NPC's that have been put in it. None of this will get fixed vs. working on linear (gear/leveling) content for end game pi$$ed off lvl 50 players... why probably.. well currently there's no where to go.. come GW2 and even a sniff of a rich multi dimensional world and a real player economy.. I'll be off.. failing that i'll take another several year break from MMO's and see what comes around..
  10. lol yeah Vanguard. I was in beta for that and people were calling it the WOW killer.. The beta game was awful and the release game just like the beta.
  11. yep you do ive rollec about 10 all have the dig packs
  12. The second you post something that goes against the hype, even if it's constructive. The thread is closed...
  13. I'm on space baring and what's under the voice acting is a lazt flat unrealised MMO that has no strong points at all. the MMO features are at best in offensive. The world's are dead , like cardboard cutout populated by the same 4 NPC models waving their arms about having a conversation even if they are on their own... They all can't have cell phone ear implants and spend 24/7 on a call....
  14. Same here, it's a somewhat successful RPG masquerading as an MMO. Look under the single player class story line and the game design is just lazy, and I'm not talking about bugs... Don't think I can face going back to WOW either. As good/polished as it is, I'm done with it. The 7 year itch I guess.
  15. truth about this questions is no one knows what wow or SWTOR cost. As to the engines though Bioware used the hero engine. me, you or anyone can get a hero account and start building an engine from prefab. think of hero like salesforce for games engines. WOW isnt the warcraft 3 engine. wow was just based on the look of WC3..
  16. This is a knife in the heart of every true crafter who wanted a vibrant player economy where you feel valued on your server for the items you can provide but.. I noticed that alot of people are taking up crafting. Running with it for a bit and then dumping their matts on the galactic auction for low credits. So being down beat like alot of you. I figured I could buy those matts, craft green gun barrels and sell them as vendor trash for a 50% *profit. I'm earning very good money due to the constant supply of cheap mats dumped by disillusioned players. I use a spreadsheet matrix to le me know how much I should pay for a given stack and I stick to it... That said, I do feel like someone doing a raging trade in body parts because a nasty disease is in town. Kinda dirty like I'm taking advantage of a bad situation. Ta
  17. Why don't you park this and come back in six months when it's matured? It's like having work done on your house. Some people muddle through it, set up a make shift kitchen in the bedroom. Get a portaloo and live with the mess. Others move out into a hotel and come back when it's all done. If the initial teething issues are causing you so much anguish.. Why not find a hotel for a few months?
  18. Rocket punch is worth the price of my sub alone.... Game is amazing flaws and all. Please take the people who want to turn this into a numbers game with a pinch of salt. They are few, narrow minded, and unimportant to future success.. Peace.
  19. Yeah, I love the fact that even though this is a social game.. There's Great provisions to avoid forced grouping..
  20. Yeah, I love the fact that even though this is a social game.. There's Great provisions to avoid forced grouping..
  21. I love this game, flaws just make it more interesting to play.. invention is driven by adversity. The flaws means in the long run this will be better than if it had been deployed to a satasfactory level. What doesn't destroy you makes you stronger..
  22. a game. people who adopt the fetal position because lack of high rez rendering or animation delays while killing cartoon star wars monsters do make me giggle though.. so please let's have more highly entertaining comments like "if a combat slacking, casual tracking, log isn't implemented right now, I'm going to leave and take the 00000000.01% revenue my sub represents with me"..z
  23. When you are regularly found, on the floor in a fetal position, surrounded by the scattered keys of a smashed up keyboard, muttering something about high rez textures, animation delay in pvp and casuals not hitting the 85 percentile in your group.. Do you ever consider that you've jumped the shark? Proud casuals like me notice these things, shrug and move on. The drama and tension in my life if attributed to something other than my ability to excel at shooting cartoon starwars monsters. You see, this is a game. I enjoy the game play, the pretty worlds, the stories, and other like minded people I meet on the road with a smile on my face,a spring in my step and a song in my heart. If this game really brings out extreme inner petulance. Consider this, video yourself during one of your mega man child melt downs. Oh, let's say an over running maintenance window or a 1 second animation delay. Gather your nearest and dearest around you to watch, and and ask them honestly, if they think you need a serious life importance rebalance or maybe even professional psychiatric help.
