  1. Except it doesn't matter much at all, the devs are correct in this. Half a second doesn't mean anything in PvE, and it's foolish to balance a game ONLY around PvP, where it matters a LITTLE People are just making a huge deal out of it trying to make it seem like half a second (or less) is the difference between life or death ALL THE TIME. It's not. Occasionally you'll be DoTted up and die before the project actually lands, but in cases like that you're dead no matter what; half a second wouldn't have saved you there, it would just have made people feel better, "Yeah, I did an extra 500 damage to that guy before I died! That increased my DPS count in the final scoreboard and clearly the DPS count is a measure of how good I am in a video game instead of objective points, defense points, and healing points!" That's all it is.
  2. Because Tatooine, and to an extent Alderaan, are big difficulty leaps, with little time to adjust. It's basically Coruscant (Easy mode) -> Taris (Easy mode) -> Nar Shadda (Easy mode) -> Tatooine (WHAT THE FFFFF) -> Alderaan (Okay, this is hard but bearable)
  3. To be honest I don't agree with "use pointless abilities every single global cooldown just to make it feel like you're doing something." For example, I'm not going to use force stasis on an enemy I don't need it on just because I used slash already and don't want to use another melee attack, that's a huge waste of a 1minute cooldown. Against strongs and elites, sure, but even then you can live without alternating between a melee/force attack. I know I'm not going to use Rebuke and Saber Ward just because Oh, I'm out of force attacks to use so I might as well use one of these so I'm not "wasting" a global cooldown! No, that's pointless. You use Rebuke and Saber Ward when you NEED them, not because you don't want to use slash a second time in a row.
  4. How exactly are you level 28 on alderaan? Did you skip the bonus series on tatooine? I'm finding it hard to not be 29-30 at the start of alderaan.
  5. Level 28? You're probably on tatooine or possibly alderaan. Now, I'm no expert on mods, but that hilt seems pretty low level. Should use your commendations if you have any left to see if there's an upgrade. I've actually found myself using Guardian hilts and mods and stuff, just because it gives higher stats and weapon damage/armor than might stuff, since might stuff is typically 1 level lower. Plus, I'd only gain +1 or +2 strength from using might mods, whereas with guardian stuff I gain like +6 or more endurance.
  6. It's really not that good at all. It's not reflect in the sense of "if they did 500 damage to you, you reflect 50% of it so they take 250 damage" it's reflect in the sense of "oh, we might as well let you do damage when they hit you. Here, do 50 damage every time you get hit."
  7. As it stands, sages are the only class that doesn't use their basic strikes past level 10 or so. If everyone thinks this is perfectly acceptable and OH MY GOD IF SAGES COULD USE THEIR MELEE ATTACKS THAT DO 50 DAMAGE THAT MAKES THEM SO INCREDIBLY OVERPOWERED then let's remove every other class' basic attack after they reach level 10. Doesn't sound like a good idea to you? Neither does letting the sage's basic abilities become pointless.
  8. Oh please. The way energy and upper hand works I didn't have to bother watching my energy and upper hand as a scoundrel. It's so ridiculously easy to stay above 60 energy and have stacks of upper hand compared to sentinel having to decide which group of enemeis they should use rebuke/saber ward on, whether they should use call on the force, etc.
  9. It's because we're a medium armor class that's expected to melee against things, and the only real CC we have is against droids. We have other abilities that could be considered CC, but they only last for 3-6 seconds at most. So I think really what the big deal is, is that for a melee class, we aren't really given the tools to compete while wearing medium armor. If we were given a bunch more hard CC that can be used on humanoids and everything, sure. If we were given heavy armor, that would work as well. Inb4 self-righteous people who don't even play sentinels come in to tell me they played a sentinel from 1-50 as combat spec (the most gimped spec until much higher levels) with T7 as their companion (inferior to Kira) with absolutely no problems whatsoever and they never ever went below 50% health. Believe it or not, I'm not complaining, I'm just throwing what our current faults are out there.
  10. Try using force kick and force stasis on him instead of trying to pump out as much damage as possible.
  11. Took him down first try using Kira. Funny thing about him: If you use the interrupts you were given throughout leveling and save them for his big attacks, he's practically harmless. Of course, this requires you to bind your interrupts somewhere, instead of removing them from your bars or even not training them because "interrupts are useless in PvE" In fact, let me just say this right now: On any of the class bosses that seem "impossible", before you (talking in general) come to the forums to create a thread saying how X boss is impossible and how terrible we are, try using your interrupts. So far, I've only died to the Sand Demon. Why? He can't be interrupted, since all his attacks are instant or are gimmick instance effects.
  12. Why wouldn't you use an ability that reduces the enemy's accuracy by 90% all the time? It's like an extra crowd control ability.
  13. And yet this is at 40+. At 1-39 you're still using slash, because you don't have blade rush. Then at 40+, you have slash AND blade rush. I don't see a problem with Zen.
  14. On the contrary, the majority of people complaining about class quests are using T7 over Kira.
  15. Scoundrels/Operatives are insanely reliant on the flechette round - shoot first - back blast - sucker punch -> sucker punch combo. Once they get that off, you're more or less dead. If you aren't dead by the end of it, you have a huge 5-10 second window to get away or kill them, because all their other powers don't do that much damage.
  16. Well, unlike Sweep, the AoE Satele used was practically all force. I don't even think she had her lightsaber out when she did it. That's basically force wave.
  17. Unless the guardian is specced for vigilance, then their force sweep is free.
  18. It's 6% of the party's health within 6 seconds. Or even faster if you have 3 stacks of overload saber burns + Cauterize. 12% of yours. Extra healing is extra healing, even if it's not some stupid insane number like 25-50% of the parties health. If it was, it would be way overpowered, considering how fast a sentinel can get 30 stacks of centering later on.
  19. That's kind of the point, really. Oranges are suppose to be a completely different gear set than green/blue/purples. If you have an orange item with up to date blue mods (from commendations or otherwise) it's going to be leagues better than any quest reward or blue drop you find. Orange item is starting to become worse than your quest rewards or items you're finding? Time for an upgrade! And the gap between orange and green/blue/purple items becomes even bigger if you're slotting the orange with PURPLE mods. Then you can probably go even longer without swapping mods than you could if you just used commendations. The way I see it, oranges are used for the people who like keeping a certain piece of gear forever, since they can change mods. It does mean that suddenly quest rewards appear to become garbage, but in that case just pick the commendation: Which is your true quest reward because it allows you to continue upgrading your mods.
  20. Really? You took it down because it wasn't stickied? The videos probably weren't that great anyway if you don't have enough pride in them to keep them up.
  21. Sure, why not. I'm currently only level 21 on my sentinel, but I've had no problems leveling. Here's what I am so far: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbk.1 Planning this when I reach 50: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMfGzZhMMz.1 I'm using Kira as my companion. What am I doing so far? It depends on the encounter. If it's just a group of 3 enemies, I target the guy with the most people around him (because at this point groups are usually two enemies close together, with the third off on their own), force leap to him, force sweep, then I pick a target and Zealous Strike for focus, then I more or less Blade Rush/Slash everything to death. I also use force kick any time I see one trying to cast a skill. Against a group of 1 strong and 1-2 normals, I use Rebuke BEFORE entering combat, I force leap to the strong, then in mid-leap I use Overload Saber, then I zealous strike, cauterize, slash, then master strike. At this point, the strong enemy is dead, or close to it, in which case my strategy becomes the same as above. Against an elite: Rebuke before combat, force leap in, overload saber mid leap, zealous strike, saber ward when I start being attacked, cauterize, slash. If I have Zen ready, I use it before entering combat along with rebuke so when I get all my burns in I get a small burst of health. Then I fight the same way as with a strong. After my burns are up, I use master strike, blade storm, slash. When overload saber comes off CD, I repeat, though at this point the elite is pretty much dead. With champions, I'd probably do the same as I do with elites. I'm also biochem/bioanalysis/diplomacy, and I made myself the reusable medpack that heals up to 1000 HP, and the reusable battle stim, which gives +16 str and +6 power. I keep the stim up 24/7. And of course I plan to upgrade my reusable medpack/stims when I can. Yes, I'm only level 21 right now, but I don't see my strategy changing, even when I get new abilities. Sure, I'll add them into how I fight, but I don't see any radical changes to my fighting. The only thing that -might- bug people is that I have to rest every 1-3 fights, but to be perfectly honest I don't mind, since every class was given a self heal for a reason.
  22. People saying that "As a sentinel don't use Kira" are flat out wrong. Using Kira over T7 is your best bet from the moment you get her (But you need to remember to either continue gearing T7 up or have guildies that can make him good armor at around level 50) She takes damage better than T7 does, and the extra damage she gives is a HUGE advantage. To be quite honest? I can't see how you can die to Tarnis. At 15 you're given Call On the Force, which refreshes saber ward's cooldown. At that point you also have Rebuke and Saber Ward, which you should be using against an elite. When you get him to focus on you, pop both cooldowns, and COtF if you need to, which gives you ANOTHER use of Saber Ward. After that, I really can't say much more. Beat him first try as a level 16 sentinel. Of course, I'm watchman spec, so maybe combat is just really underpowered. TBH, the only way I can see people losing to this guy is if they ONLY use strike and slash, NEVER use Blade Storm, or Cauterize, or aren't using a form, or aren't using Zen when you have 30 centering. I'm beginning to understand why everyone is saying the JK is underpowered. While other classes can just spam 1-2 abilities, we have to use more than 2, which seems to be more than people can handle. Use Cauterize every time it's up. Use Zealous Strike every time it's up. Use Blade Storm every time it's up. Use Zen when it comes up. When he attacks you, use Rebuke and Saber Ward. If you still need help, bring a medkit and a strength or endurance stim. And unlike what people say, use Master Strike if Cauterize, Zealous Strike, and Blade Storm are down. If you're a guardian, use Kira anyway. And none of this really applies to guardians, I have no experience with them.
  23. I'd just like to point out, saying that you're doing just fine at level 50 with full champion PVP gear with lots of expertise is very misleading. Saying because of that you become "near invincible" in PVP is a huge mistake, since the majority of the time you're fighting people below level 50 in PVP, and what does expertise do? Increase damage/healing you do and decreases damage the enemies do to you. So yeah, saying your jedi knight/sith warrior in full champion gear is destroying in PVP doesn't really say much until the majority of people in PVP have full champion gear as well.
  24. "I don't like jedi. I don't like lightsabers. Sages use the force so they shouldn't have lightsabers" Honestly? And then you complain about how jedi and overplayed and how you hate them and thank bioware you can play something other then a jedi. My opinion? PLAY SOMETHING OTHER THAN A JEDI and quit complaining about how Jedi Sages have lightsabers. You don't like Jedi, you don't like Lightsabers, you'd prefer to not be a force using class? The answer is so incredibly obvious but you don't want to accept it: PLAY A NON FORCE-USING CLASS. Unless you already are playing a non force-using class and you're just raging because you see people running around as Jedi, which you hate and wish didn't exist, in which cast I don't even know what you're trying to accomplish, other than waste everyone's time
  25. Sad thing is, most people see Kira as the DPS companion and instantly decide "I'm never using her because I don't need two DPS characters out doing damage even FASTER to the enemy, causing him to die QUICKER while doing LESS damage to me" Instead, they whine about how T7 is a bad tank because he can't sit there and absorb everything thrown at him, only taking 1 damage a hit in the process. I've found running around with your DPS companion works a LOT better than with the tank companion.
