  1. Is this the 4th version of the thread that has reached 1000+ posts or is it higher? I dunno I guess it will die (the thread) in the next few days as subscriptions come up. Those that are not prepared to put up with it will be unable to post then. May the force be with you I'll be back when they change this.
  2. Hutta, Korriban, Ord Mantell or Tython if the fan bots (who all seem to be remarkably casual) are to be believed.
  3. Actually that does not fix it as the problem lies elsewhere.
  4. Leaving aside the other AAA's that do it even the one man and his dog Z listers can manage to do it without breaking a sweat.
  5. There is absolutely no reason why they can not do separate maintenance times. If they want to maximise revenue they will do this sooner rather than later. To maximise revenue you need to maximise availability to the majority of your paying customers. That means separate maintenance at about 2am in the morning. I am actually thinking of doing a credit card charge back, somehow simply cancelling just does not seem adequate to express my complete and utter disgust at this nonsense. Just because they are not doing it does not make it right, it completely defies basic logic and common sense as it will undoubtedly cost them revenue.
  6. I always enjoy getting to learn how a new class works too. I have a problem for a couple of reasons. First is skill bloat...lots of MMO's have this issue, I'd like to see games experiment with other design philosophies. I'm not saying go all out GW1 (though that was a very interesting approach) but look at other ways of doing things. Trion mitigated that to a degree with their macro scheme, put all your CC's in a macro and have one button for them. Smuggler stealth (for example) has 4 keys at least 3 are not neccassary as the game could know by context what you want to do. Combat itself is fun but not as satisfying as it could be (largely due to skill lag and engine issues). It's just not as 'crisp' as it could be.
  7. True that. I am mindful that my morning ritual is coming here first rather than logging in. The game was fun for me but it becomes harder to turn a blind eye to the warts. On the subject of the voice overs, character three I am using the space bar more.
  8. 'cause we messed it up' would get more respect for me. I wonder if they will finally fix broken harvesting nodes this time? It really does not bode too well when the things they 'fix' are not (fixed).
  9. Yeah and the moon is made of swiss cheese...really...true story.
  10. Do some space combat missions...early on they give a pretty good chunk of exp. I am on my 3rd character and real early (I am only level 6 but am guessing this will hold true until 10ish) grinding a few mobs seems plausible. I did it to top off levels to train before moving to far from home. Without sprint there is a lot of time running and just killing mobs gives a good chunk of exp.
  11. By any objective measure that you care to use that is quantifiably untrue. Sure it's not that bad a launch but it really isn't that great. There is more to a smooth launch than queues and despite the staggered launch BW had more than there fare share of queues. It was only an hour or so on my server for the first week or two o but there where other that where much higher. The actual state of the game (which I found fun) was mediocre with things like ability delays, fps issues, texture issues, broken main quest lines for several classes (so they could not progress past a certain point) etc. etc. Really the launch was more Funcom than Trion. The game is fun but to claim the launch was the smoothest ever is risible.
  12. Yeah arguably Rift took the crown from DAoC and LotRO whether you like the game (Rift) or not Trion are a shining beacon for how to produce, release and manage a game. @the OP. The only thing I feel let down and upset about are the EU maintenance times. It was a lousy business decision. As sub time approaches (I cancelled because of this) I feel less and less 'let down and upset' as the ongoing reveal of the various warts the game has make me think that I will not miss playing as much as I thought I would.
  13. The shotgun takes ages to pull out. I am not saying that the mirror is different because I have no experience of that. You'd have thought a dev would go through the list and at least acknowledge the issues that need attention and dismiss those that do not.
  14. Sure but they are so fundamental it should not make it in to release. Period. The fact this was one that was not prioritised earlier in the games development cycle tells you a lot about how BW are approaching things. They are going for the quick and easy fixes like emoting on a mount rather than the fundamental game altering ones like skills firing when you hit the key. Of course one requires significantly more work than the other but it is work that should have been done a year ago.
