  1. I agree with these points. Your initial post stated that you believe combat medic is not meant for arena, which is the point that I strongly disagree with. The vulnerabilities you state can be compensated. You mention that we eventually have to stop and chain a bunch of heals; stopping and doing so at the right time will compensate for that and when I say at the right time I mean during a cc on the enemies or at least on the enemy that's bothering you the most and/or doing the most damage. This is highly abstract but I hope my point is clear. This is not theoretical, these are things that I'm aware of and try to improve as I play ranked with people that I consider to be decent players and amazing guys because they don't mind that I'm a combat medic i.e. not a scoundrel. We've had great results meaning we've won FAR more then we've lost, gaining about 800 rating in the process. Just saying this so people don't assume I'm making up scenarios with each argument I make.
  2. How did this turn into bromance from nazi germans (<---------- THAT IS A JOKE, JUST A HARMLESS DAMNED JOKE)? I love you guys. ToFN community is da best. I wish there was a server vs server arena event thing. Man would we be the best of friends then or what? Lol
  3. No. 1 melee dps will not do much to keep us neutralized. Keep you busy, sure, but neutralized is an overstatement. There's ways to handle 1; you can fakecast, you can kb at the right time/in the right place, you can kite via htl and kolto bomb or any other slow i.e. riot gas or freezing force, you can stun to stop certain burst rotations such as gore/precision slash, you can cc. If you're guarded, the damage he'll do will be completely manageable. Not to mention he's not gonna sit on you in a void, you have peels from your teammates. More issues come with 2 on you, then you really need the undivided attention (or something close to that) of your tank and the occasional peels from your other 2 teammates. I completely do not agree with your statement that we can't handle multi-task pressure. Pressure doesn't happen in a void where it just keeps building up, there's pressure relievers like cc or defensive cds that give you breathing room to top ppl up, you just have to learn to spot them and utilize them as best as you can. We're not immobile. We have limited mobility but we're not immobile, no healer is. And we fall behind under pressure but that doesn't mean we don't function, that means we need more pressure relieving moments. And you can always fakecast at least 1 of your spells if you have 2 interrupters on you. People are so used to the mentality that we don't work that they don't invest many resources into figuring out how to make it work. I assure you, it can work. You have to put more effort into it then any scoundrel ever had to, but it is viable.
  4. There's the issue If you want to truly enjoy arenas, NEVER solo queue, unless you're comm farming. You'd feel a lot better about your combat medic if you had 3 competent people that can react to what the 4 enemies are/could be doing to you. Plus it's much more fun to get better as a team; get in a guild and start playing.
  5. I barely remember what it was like, but who's to say nobody ever made it work. Maybe someone somewhere pushed through and played it right. I like to think that exceptional players can make any class/spec work, although maybe I'm wrong.
  6. I'd love to see some too. It's unthinkable for me because I don't think I could do it and through my experience which doesn't portray an objective reality it would seem like a hard class to play in arenas. Like I said, I'm sure some better players are out there doing it, or could do it if they had the means (read team). I just have a profound distaste as far as rerolling is concerned and felt like reinforcing roudys sentence that adapting is not rerolling which is very nicely put and i strongly agree with it.
  7. Unthinkable is op dps or sorc heal or mando dps but i'm sure there are better players out there doing it so yeah. Rerolling sucks. Lazyness ftw
  8. Busy working on mando heals, someone else take sorc
  9. Not trying is certainly not going to make you any better, it would only take away the stress of playing a harder class. Continuing to play and improve is something that is solely up to you and your willingness to invest time and effort. What you haven't mentioned is if it's in Solo Queue or Group Play, because the two vary wildly. In solo queue you're at the mercy of your team mates; if they don't do enough pressure, the enemy team doesn't have to worry about dying and can focus on making your life miserable, if they do not peel enough for you you will be spending the entire game on the backfoot trying desperately to top everyone up and buckling under neverending pressure, if they aren't coordinated enough to secure a kill with the help of net and ccs from you then you'll be fighting an uphill battle because in long fights we'll more often then not fall short, if you don't have a tank then well... lol. On your own part, there's a million things you could potentially be doing wrong; are you using kolto bomb on cooldown, do you kite at the right time, do you knockback at the right time, do you cc their dps at the right time, do you line of sight at the right time, do you sit in the right place, are you managing your defensive cooldowns properly, are you helping the dps when the context allows it, are you playing in a good spec or with good gear, are you playing your class in an optimal way, etc? The best advice I could give is don't give up, find 3 good people to get better with and always be aware that in every game there is most likely something that you could've done better; if at the end of the match you think to yourself "I did this thing better then last time and I didn't do that other thing as good, I should do it better" then you're improving.
  10. Some napkin math tells me that Trauma Probe will already be more powerful then a Medical Probe (our strongest hard heal) by the time 5 charges are spent. Assuming Probe Medic is specced into, that's 10 seconds of being constantly attacked. Kinda works like a HoT already, with the limitation that it's for just one person at a time. No, I'd hate for Trauma Probe to be removed. For 2 ammo and the potential to heal buttloads (actual amount) of damage, it's our strongest heal, if used at the right times.
  11. I quite like how combat medic is performing at the moment. Have played about 60-70 games as combat medic and have only lost 7 I think, 2 of which were dcs, going from 1.7k rating pre 2.4 to 2.45k rating atm. Now there are a number of reasons for this: - The team I've been playing with has mostly been 2 smash sents (sometimes inflitration shadow instead of 1 mara) and 1 tank guardian, with the odd vanguard tank hybrid every now and again, a setup which imo has a fairly low skill floor and thus starts off on a better footing then a lot of other comps that have to be more skilled to get the same results. - The teams we've been facing have mostly been lackluster as far as competition goes, the 5 "legit" losses we had have been to teams that played better and where we sucked. We didn't play to the strengths of the comp or did silly mistakes. Imo the weakness of combat medic is sustained healing. When compared to an operative, we cannot sustain the health of our team mates for as long as an op can. At some point, something needs to happen that gives us breathing room; removing the opponent that is pressuring us, or aoe ccing everything to give us vital 8 seconds of healing freely, shield pop with full resolve which means free healing, etc. That moment where breathing room is required comes less frequently for an op. The strength lies in the potential for big plays such as ccing the tank via guardian push/leap root/mez or stun AND netting healer to prevent running towards tank and kbing him away from the pushed tank. Also, since we're running an aoe stomp comp via the 2 smashers, insane aoe (up to 40k as far as i remember from a game, from 1 plasma grenade and a mortar volley) may add unreal pressure. Single target damage is decent, although no sabotage charge so no real burst, but it can sometimes be enough to finish of a neted healer. As far as healing numbers go, I've been pulling 2k hps a lot more often then pre 2.4 and recently did 2.3k hps so deffinately not bad. Not operative, but with clever positioning and amazing teamwork I think combat medic is in a very solid place as far as arena goes. At any rate muuuuuuuuuuuch better then sages. Lol.
  12. Since I haven't seen any combat medic in arenas videos around here I thought I'd share this video a guildie shadow I played with made: This is just for people who want to see if combat medics can do anything right or if it's even playable on a decent level in arenas, which I personally think it is. It's not a "look at this awesomeness" video since I know we made loads of mistakes in these clips (and these are the fights we won, plenty of mistakes in the ones we lost ). I personally feel like I have to work at a much higher level to achieve results that are obtainable my operatives without too much of a fuss, but I deffinately think commando has a spot in arenas as is. The team work has to be amazing and any mistake is horribly punishable, but it's not anywhere near as bad as I would have thought it'd be when arenas were announced.
  13. That's good to know. Your first post said "retarded coral/whatever guilds" and I assumed you meant us all. Thanks for clearing it up.
  14. We're trying to improve and we're stubbornly sticking to the classes we enjoy. It would be an unexpected sign of maturity from you if you refrained from trash talking entire guilds based on the actions of a few. I don't recall us saying anything but gg to you and only evo calling you out and the occasional corv discussion as he likes to call it, yet you still have this attitude toward our entire guild like we're the last scrubs to be found. Take it out on the guys that are trash talking you and leave the others alone. I would be amazed if I could say gg to you and truly feel some sort of sportsmanship and not find out you call us a retarded team and I use the term team loosely.

    Heal to full!

    i'm dying of laughter ahahhhahahahaah
  16. So far in my experience mando heals feels not on par but deffinately not out of its league in 4v4. Played a few games last night with the following set up: vanguard tank, vanguard tactics, sentinel focus and combat medic and we faced mostly 2smash 1guardian tank 1op healer teams and had success versus some and lost to others, but always managed to at least get 1 round off them. The times we did lose felt like execution failures and not like the commando was dragging down the team by a significant margin. I did feel the stress of having to keep people up when we're on the backfoot and in my opinion that is the weakness of the comp, no decent way to rebound when we're under pressure but we'd still need to play a lot more games to get better and work with our synergy. Had I been an operative would have we won? Most likely because the op class would have carried my mistakes and would have relieved pressure in places where the mando starts to slowly fall behind. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that while we're clearly behind scouperatives in terms of viability, I did not feel like I was severely gimping my team mates (and friends) by being a stubborn bastard and insisting I healed on mando. I think it's possible to at least be a challenge, as is, as commando combat medic.
  17. Curious about this one as well, it would be a really nice addition if you pulled it off.
  18. And you still say that nobody cares about ranked? There's a whole lot more then "a dozen" players on my server (ToFN) that actively play ranked. A small % of the entire playerbase, but that's to be expected for hardcore content. I don't get how you can pull something like nobody cares about ranked when I know a good amount of players that are passionate about this aspect of swtor. Idk how things are on your server (or even if you're involved in this aspect), but here the removal of 8v8 will bug a whole lot of guilds.
  19. You are a funny man with your ignorance. You're probably on one of the servers from which guilds transfered away to other servers where ranked was/is actually happening.
  20. Do you happen to have a link of a video with <hey I'm MVP> running merc heal? I'm very curious to see what they do and how they make it work.
