  1. This very idea is flawed. You do nothing but point out that this as an "MMO" is not really working in the way an MMO should. The idea is you keep subbing because an "MMO" is not supposed to run out of things to do, or max you out after a month. Doesn't sound like he hard-cored it. Average raid scheduled, just because his guild is good enough to do hard-modes means they should be punished for it? The leveling curve in this game is far too quick for what waits at the end, and "roll an alt" is not acceptable as an answer, if you find it to be? You don't ask enough from the products you buy. Unlike Mass effect, Dragon age, and Skyrim. This game is not a single player game, it's an MMO. But if you read, a lot of people say it feels single player - which is in and of itself odd. Battlefield 3 you can't beat, because it's online game play is unending.
  2. Probably one of the better guilds around. General word is that the hard-mode op's aren't very hard for players who are used to doing hard-mode content. I mean, it's being downed by a lot of players. Without wiping for a few resets on bosses to learn difficult mechanics, so base your guesses around that I suppose.
  3. I don't intend to get into an argument with you. The forums are a place to ask questions, and get answers or find advice. He was seeking advice on what to do, because of how he feels. Your attitude and reply sure aren't going to make him want to stay. That's really the end of it, the problem is you, not him.
  4. Just because somebody doesn't know something doesn't mean you should be rude to them Capper. I know you love the game, so do it justice by being kind to people who are on the fence about staying and contributing to keeping the population healthy. If he doesn't know, politely inform him.
  5. Rifts system was a bit flawed based on the idea that the content had to be completed in groups. You couldn't solo those invasions, and you were pretty much stuck if you were alone. The game's population suffered considerably for a while, and finding invasion groups in some zones could be very difficult. Hopefully the scaling will correct this issue with GW2. So far they seem to have learned from other games and improved upon the mechanics presented. Edit: They also have some system in place that keeps the town safe for a bit. The "invasions" aren't mandatory as there is no mandatory quest system in the game, fundamentally the town getting saved awards you exp and items, but if you choose not to save it, you're not losing any quest givers that you MUST have, and can just go to another event should you choose.
  6. I hear you dude. I'm feeling the exact same way. The only thing that makes me go "Yeah that might work." is GW2. It's different than the loot grind games we've been given over the years, and I've been looting since EQ1, and I enjoyed it all the way up through WoW because the Raids were pretty damn fun, but there in on hard-modes it took some ability to know what you were doing. I never found any hard modes all that hard, but a lot of people did. I've never tried a Combat System like GW2 has, so it'll be at least a fun thing to learn to do yeah? Look into it, may be what you want.
  7. It's already been said but I can elaborate a bit more. You'd probably prefer GW2 over the current end game system, however as a raider you may run into an issue if you can't shift the focus of your enjoyment from gear to titles / gear skins. Yes, GW2 high end dungeons (all dungeons actually, starting at mid level), will feature a story mode that you go through the 1st time, then you will unlock Exploration mode, where in you are given objectives that change each play through. I don't know how many are available, but they did a dev team run of one of the high level ones, and failed to complete it given it's difficulty. Guild Wars 2 "High level PVE" focuses more on player skill to avoid content mechanics via active dodge and support abilities woven with offensive and self healing. It removes the gear check. While, your gear WILL improve, due to the Sidekick system, you will always be the correct max level for the zone you're wandering through, you won't be able to steam roll content. Hopefully that will help you a bit.
  8. This for now is exactly true. The game by the numbers is a fantastic success and that's wonderful. Now they have to keep it past the 2nd, the 3rd. Bioware will have to work hard, but I think they'll do just fine. People who don't want to play, will go find something they do, and good for them, being happy is way better than being unhappy. My sub runs out in 16 days, and I'm fine with that.
  9. Oh I get it. Hold on, I found your club with +5 Silly under the bridge. I'll mail it back to you. I can't help but respond to one part though. SWTOR is very popular, it's different than what's available, and that will grant it a great deal of leeway in terms of retention. However, peoples complaints are not baseless. I get that you're a troll (probably), but maybe people who read my reply can get Something out of it. I don't think Warcraft will pull out of it's two million slump, but the population will even out, and most likely stay well above SWTOR's sub count for a very long time. Trends point to positive growth, but it's wiser to tread the path of caution over flinging one self head long into something, usually. I'm not spinning anything, time will tell how the game does Subwise, up or down. I would prefer games not fail at all, and prosper to grant their respective player base the enjoyment they want. Any sane person would hope for this, it's just what's right. I can't do anything about you wielding opinion as fact, that's your problem and not mine however. So, if you believe that this game is better than every game, it's your opinion and true for you, but it may not be true for me, or others. Respect teaches us to value others opinions, and not discredit them because they don't agree with ours.
  10. I'd rather they didn't flame and just respect your opinion on the subject as it pertains to you, and move on or comment politely. That, may not happen however.
  11. Why would anyone with logic disagree? The numbers are there for now but may change, only time will be able to give you this information. I don't think your goal, or anyone's goal should be "slay the Warcraft." Rather than "Advanced past what we've been stagnating in for seven years without much improvement." I don't understand why people are so obsessed with killing something that can't actually be killed, and will continue to do well and make money. The game hasn't been getting "gross injustice." People just voice their dissatisfaction in ridiculous and childish ways. Kind of like how people post their joy in ridiculous and childish ways. It's much simpler just to nod your approval, and continue on with whatever it is you intend to be doing. While I appreciate you using the Emperor's quote like that, I think it's a bit of a disservice to the power of that line to use it in such a silly way, especially when you're referring to people hearing the game has great number of subs like it's some kind of weapon to be wielded against foe's that in themselves are so ridiculous they're self defeating. Yikes.
  12. What about the innocent drivers your insane method of "culling the herd" would kill?
  13. To quote Vannie: Oh I agree there's lots of times you'll feel like "omg is there anyone out there?" But mostly that's due to the size of some of the planets. I mean the first few (starter-Nar Shaddaa for republic) are relatively small. BUt once you get to Tatooine and Alderaan? Holy god it's insane how huge they are and how it can make you feel like you're alone. However, this is the 2nd half of the problem. Leveling from 1-50 on a server that had a queue and was Very healthy (still is by most accounts). I ran into a Total, of 15 republic players. Republic health on Jung Ma isn't that bad. It's like the game keeps us apart like the Berlin Wall is in place. I'm going to use this example because there is Nothing wrong with it. In WoW at launch, I ran into enemies, and friendlies a Lot. This was back when the game didn't have as many subs as SWTOR does now, by a long shot. There would be pvp battles all Over the place, it was intense, and a lot of fun. That simply fails to exist in any shape in SWTOR. Onto the issue of planets being big. They actually aren't. You bypass most of it via speeders, and if it's not directly where you're ALL going to quest, there's nothing but terrain and fatigue. Alderaan was where I ran into the Most enemy players (Including their base nyuk nyuk.). However, since then it's just been very lonely. I don't like that in an MMO..It feels wrong.
  14. There is a major difference between RPing on an RP server, and doing things that are just absolutely Unacceptable to the community as a whole, be it RPer's or not. Ninja looting is NEVER okay. All it does is foster hatred in the Player, not the character. Even asking that question is a bad idea, just because people Play bad guys in video games, does not mean it's an invitation to abuse other players and make their experience less enjoyable. Never okay, ever.
  15. The issue is Vanni, on Jung Ma, a very healthy server. I don't see those drop down menus, ever. Not even in fleet, not on any planets. Maybe I've missed it once or twice on the fleet but, still. It's just a little concerning when you go out there. The game keeps you pretty separate from other players in some ways.
  16. Hahah. I played a Federation Heavy cruiser (mix and match Sovereign Class.) That focused on shield extending and transfer. It was a lot of fun in pvp, I played with a few good friends, so we had a blast in space, ground WAS horrible though.
  17. What, you didn't like flying into battle with the U.S.S Depaherp? I played STO at launch, the starship stuff was pretty fun. Very easy to level in though. You, like most are rational people who don't lose their minds. We got what we knew was coming.
  18. I'm pretty confident that ANET isn't going to cave under internet pressure from the extremely loud vocal minority. People want to hope for a game that can be really just -good- and not have parts that just make you feel sour about it. Granted, this is a smidgen unrealistic. The wisest way to look at it, is if you're looking for something different in more than just a few ways, check out GW2. I can say the performance will be pretty good on mid rage machines (Cards with GTX 460-560 types). Not ancient, not brand new, but modern enough. They've shown that their systems running it at cons which are probably just a bit over that type of rig. Were not talking 580 gtx cards or 7970's in these demo machines, it would be insane to do that much expensive hardware. But, as I was saying. They shown Quite a large number of people standing together, emoting, casting, with good frames per second on a demo beta client. Seeing things like that, and their combat system, the radical change of the trinity, the IDEA of the game itself. Well, it has people on edge for something they hope will simply kick the way the genre has been in the past years to the curb. In short, people who over-hype to a frothing frenzy will be always end up being disappointed - always.
  19. That's just ridiculous. People can voice their opinion about a product they purchased and WANTED to like, but just ended up not liking it you know. When you say things like that it really makes you look like you're bitter or have something to prove by being passive aggressive. This thread is the Best example of proper ways to speak ones mind about how they feel, positive, or negative, that I have seen in a long time. Respect that. Now just go do something else, you've cast your vote. Read it like I am in passing. I only respond when I feel I should, and it's probably way More than I should.
  20. You can trust him Kalrick. His count is as accurate as it can be. He wouldn't spend so much time counting pages and pages of votes, some of which come with wordy text just to say yes or no, to troll the forums. His imagery depicting his dissatisfaction is simply how he chooses to display it. Better than a ranty post eh?
  21. Oh I wasn't directly meaning you, but we had started on GW2 hadn't we? Your post was VERY on topic, it's mine that haven't been. The topic is good for what it is, but it's diluted at this point by the barking of fools who can't let go of whatever hardline stance they have taken, be it pass or fail. It's late, I may have you confused with another poster.
  22. I played CoH for a little bit and found this to be true. It was pretty much player strong armed into being mandatory. I'm very glad to say that ANET is appearing to try and make this behavior simply impossible. Healing in a Majority is up to YOU, the player, to heal YOURSELF. A class like - Necromancer. Can throw down AOE damage that siphons life from his targets, and grants it to nearby allies in the AOE. However it's no where near as significant as it is that other player using his self heal with tact and intelligence. The idea is you'll have players swapping weapons, using different skills to enable others time to heal, instead of healing them yourself. It's a much more accountable system I think, in theory. From the video's I've seen from G-star and PAX-11. It's working.
  23. I must say, some of the posts have been off topic, but the off topic posts have been some of the most well thought out, well written, posted by some of the most even tempered and rational people in the thread. I like that, even if it's off topic, it's good conversation about Good things.
  24. They moved away in that aspect yes, but the combat is very cookie cutter stand there and hit target, it also follows the trinity. Not that it's a bad thing to people who enjoy it. We'll see how they do in implementation of the rest of the game. However, modern fantasy has never attracted me, I'll pass on it simply because I won't find it very engaging. I really like varied races. Which SWTOR didn't really give me sadly. Kel'Dor. I'll be playing a Charr in GW2, that's some fun stuff to look at.
  25. That's what it should be about. Improving on what has come, making things better, more fun, more interesting overall. Innovation can come on many levels, it doesn't always have to be a gigantic grand thing. Let's hope both SWTOR and GW2 push this genre out of the stagnation it's been in.
