Yet another slap in the mouth to world PVP players
Bluerodian replied to HaoZhao's topic in General Discussion
I did world pvp back in the days of EQ with Free For All that ignored faction and death penalties that were brutal, but at the same time more regulated. Everything since has been too meh to be interesting on the PVP front to hold my jnterest. Pretty much the same with raiding. On to the other matter. Pve should never be altered in any way shape or form for pvp and vice versa. The balancing and skill changed should not overlap. -
Permaban the players and put the corpses of their characters on display impaled Dracula style. That should send the proper message to them. Or, you know, Maybe put some better locks in to keep people from getting in to there in the first place, like engineered terrain bugs or textures designed specifically to crash the client if it tries to render them.

I'm not denying the existence of those restrictions, I'm saying the restrictions are pointless. If the absurd little Romance option is so important, then just disable for the aliens. Furthermore I'm tired of them using that as an excuse to cover lazy development.
-
They probably have a reason that they don't want you PVPing in that particular zone.
-
It's a video game. Reality within is flexible. When you look at it, the development really IS lazy. All of the characters have the same face options. All of the characters use the same body types. Same scar mapping. Cosmetics are only marginally different. Skin tone maps are about the only major difference and even then it isn't much. The only ones with different hair styles are the Twi'leks and these Togruta and only because they don't have hair. The species in this game are about 90% identical to one another. That's Copy/Paste. I would believe their so-called restrictions if they had given each species unique face options. Instead, they took the human model, copied it, and tweaked it. That's about it.
-
I find that to be a poor excuse concocted to cover lazy development.
-
Rp servers and standard PVE servers should not be merged. The two groups do not mix well.
-
Concerning Droid. While not properly Droids there is a species of sentient crystalline creatures that interact with others through droid bodies. These are called Shards. And there were Jedi called Iron Knights. I suspect they would use Droid parts for gearing. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Knight

Wookies would not work because of limits specifically imposed by lucasarts. Ithorians may work but would need specialized armor. Other humanoids could work fine. Many of them already speak basic and the ones represented in game already use the same body meshes and animations as the players. If the romance is such a big deal then just disable romance options for the aliens.

Yet another slap in the mouth to world PVP players
Bluerodian replied to HaoZhao's topic in General Discussion
Ok 1. Ignore whats-his-name. You'll enjoy your time more with him on the ignore list. 2. Please stop whining about the PVP. Adapt or move on. PVE is already all jacked to hell trying to balance for PVP. Thanks. -
In all reality, how long does the game really have left???
Bluerodian replied to Moonraker's topic in General Discussion
Disney probably gets the same deal on licensing and royalties that lucasarts got for TOR. IIRC that was 35% of all profits right off the top. Of course it is possible this was renegotiated. Edit: Found one of my references. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-30-lucasarts-to-take-around-35-percent-of-old-republic-revenue-report -
First or second Death Star?

I'd rather take a gold seller link than use your referral code...
Bluerodian replied to Kimiko's topic in General Discussion
This is where the referral link in my sig is a sarcastic joke. I find the whole system a bit annoying. -
It more that likely has been abandoned but what the hell. In JTL I learned how to fly through pve missions. That gave me the experience I needed to learn the systems and how to be effective before ever jumping into pvp. I would suggest Bioware create a small pve series to teach the mechanics before throwing people together.

I think what is needed instead of a new companion is the ability to retrain existing companions into different classes and builds.
-
You need to decide for yourself. This game seems to attract a special kind of stupid player, like the one you're responding to. It's best to just ignore them and move on. It'll make being on the Forums much more enjoyable. As for the game...It's not bad. It's not thriving, but it's not bad. You'll have to decide if you want to keep with it or not.
-
Thread gets Necro'ed twice. That's gotta be some serious black magic there.
-
It should remove any interaction including visual that should go both ways. The code nodded to do it is pretty much already in game with the stealth functions. No grouping. No pvp. No targetting. Nothing. It would be as though the offending player and the person using the system would no longer exist to each other

I love star wars and I love this game so...
Bluerodian replied to IstariZen's topic in General Discussion
Because of open admission to being a douche-nozzle in the last paragraph of his own "review". Anyone that makes it a point to harass or otherwise ruin the legitimate experience of another player, whether they agree with it or not, does not deserve to have an opinion. -
I'm of the mind that ignoring someone should not only hide their chat and emotes but should also make it so you can't see them and they can't see you.

This is the reason we can't have nice things. -

Competition would be good bit it's unlikely that EA would want to compete with itself. I'm not 100% for certain but I believe that EA got exclusivity with the star wars ip when they entered contract with lucasarts.
