  1. Forum stuff is what I do to unwind before hitting the sack. I'm personally played a large number of MMOs myself. Not as many as some but a good amount. EQ, EQ2, SWG, CoX, Champions Online, WoW, Rift, Terra, Uru, a few more I've probably forgotten. I don't ignore the stories. It's just about the only thing that doesn't make me want to gouge my own eyes out of sheer familiarity. When I first logged in to the game back when it was sparkly new I started the first story quest and when I finally got to really play the game the wave of deja-vu hit me like a ton of bricks. People call it tried and true. I call it old and tired. These are just opinions, of course. It comes with getting old. Don't let me dissuade you from loving the game, but for me it's not bad, but nothing special either. I think I would love it more if the story choices had more impact and if the story branched in any meaningful way.
  2. It probably would kill this game, which ultimately leads to the same problem that as long as there are MMOs there are going to be gold farmers. Blizzard also, I suspect, has far more resources at its disposal than Bioware and can afford to have individuals in the company devoted strictly to quashing gold spammers. As others have said. Best to just report, ignore, and move on. There's little else any one of us can do.
  3. Pizza the Hutt. Straight from Spaceballs the Movie.
  4. Block one Gold farmer's method of getting credits to sell and they'll make another. Those guys are a tenacious bunch and I'll give them credit for that despite thinking that Bioware should hire Joe Pesci to roll up to their house and beat them with a phone booth. The only way to well and truly get rid of them, however, is to eliminate the need for them.
  5. No thank you. I get annoyed enough at the people on my own server.
  6. It will always be a problem so long as there is a demand for credits earned with cash instead of the normal way. There's really only so much that can be done about that until Bioware finds a way to kill the demand.
  7. Sounds like he sacrificed some chickens to the RNG gods.
  8. I'm going to have to agree with this as the most likely cause. MMO players are fickle at the best of times. Make a bad impression and most will never come back. Worse yet they'll rip the game apart in all the four corners of the internet.
  9. No. I simply have said all that needs to be said. It seems that this thread has caused too much trouble (Like I said in a previous thread about SWTOR attracting a special kind of stupid). The behavior of people in this thread tells me that I wasn't far off the mark. And as I said, I have other means of contacting Bioware so this thread is no longer needed.
  10. I have other methods to get a hold of bioware so I think this thread has run its course and is of no further use. Mods, please lock this thread.
  11. I think my favorite brand of forum nonsense from yesteryear was the Biodrone Defense Force that was hell bent on ridiculing anyone with a complaint, legit or otherwise. I still see remnants of that floating about. Too bad I wasn't here when the f2p announcement hit the forums. I would've had a field day.
  12. I don't doubt that, but the toxicity is everywhere. MMOs, SWTOR especially, seemed to be designed to attract a special kind of stupid.
  13. Sarcasm aside. If those people are unable to handle forum toxicity then they probably shouldn't be playing MMOs of any sort.
  14. I have made my point and offer. If people wish to keep debating it I'll answer. If not then fine. There's really little else I can say about it.
  15. That's what I'm wondering. It would be more work to make a companion than a player species because of the need for a specific story. Player species don't need specific stories beyond what's already in place.
  16. Be careful there though. As is common with large companies they may overreact and decide that Star Wars is a poison brand for gaming in which case thee wouldn't be another star wars game for a very long time. Not likely but certainly possible
  17. A contributing factor is, like you said, compromises. Now, however, they are compromising on their main selling point as well. Story. Unique class stories are over and done. They'll never be added to in any significant way. Instead we have an overall planetary story. That's all well and good but, for me anyway, the class stories was the major draw. Once those are done what more is there that I haven't already done to death in other games? A long time ago (2+ years) before f2p was announced I said that to maintain the game bioware would either have to compromise story gore game play or vice versa. They proved me wrong by compromising both which really is a shame.
  18. As I've said before, I've not seen any more hostility here than anywhere else but I DID notice something and I'm not so sure it's just me. The forums here are actually very quiet with low activity compared to other places I've been. Even on the weekends the forum activity was a lot less than what I recall 2 or so years ago.
  19. I don't see any more or less hostility here than on any other MMO I've played.
  20. Companions are all well and good but I'm looking for something a bit better than that. It would probably be more work to make a companion anyway considering they have specific stories while players don't.
