  1. I understand the need for that, but I would prefer anything from a faction-specific exhaustion zone to orbital bombardment from a Republic cruiser on any Imperial entering that strip of land.
  2. As someone who prefers to travel to nearby locations under his own power (that is, after all, why I paid for a mount+training), it's disappointing enough when I come across an artificial barrier that prevents me from running/driving the distance between two quest hubs. This can be due to the layout of the map or the ridiculous use of exhaustion zones (you really blew it on the area surrounding Anchorhead in Tatooine, by the way). In cases like this, I feel that the use of the speeder to move across the impassable areas should be free. Some will argue that money is easy to come by (it isn't for everyone), but that really isn't the point. It's the principle of the thing. Why am I expected to shell out credits for what is ultimately lazy or poor map design creating a hurdle that I have absolutely no other way of dealing with? If a quest (or progression in general) requires me to go from point A to B, and your map designers have made that impossible for a player to do without the use of a speeder flightpoint, then you should be transporting us to and from those locations for free. ESPECIALLY in cases were your map designers choose to place an illogical exhaustion zone border between two locations that are within jogging distance of one another. Such is the case with Anchorhead and the rest of Tatooine. I get it.. you wanted to create the illusion that there was this vast stretch of desert separating the two. Next time just create a vast stretch of desert and allow me to spend my time crossing it under my own power if I choose.
  3. There's no reason to put such harsh restrictions on a quality of life feature. No other MMO which offers an XP-toggle does. I would, for example, like to be able to farm enough materials for the equipment I want to craft and wear without out-leveling it in the process.
  4. It would be a huge improvement if these database sites allowed us to choose whether to view the Imperial or Republic versions of these icons. I won't pretend to understand how these sites pull the information they display, but surely if the icons are present for one faction then they're available for both, and it's just a matter of providing the user with a way of choosing which to view. It may seem silly to complain about cons, but they are a fairly decent representation of the item and can be extremely helpful in the absence of player submitted screenshots.
  5. The above is pretty much the point. It would be one thing if this was how the shadows looked on low settings AND had a minimal impact on performance, but it's not. They look horrible in many areas on the highest graphic setting and even then they have a significant impact on the framerate. What's the point of saddling us with low quality shadows if they're not coupled with some sort of performance benefit?
  6. That you failed to recognize MMOs which had a significant impact on gaming?
  7. Not necessarily. All the high resolution texture in the world isn't going to save an outfit like this. Some art is just bad. How did things like this ever get approved for the game?
  8. Assuming you have the free time, I would say that how long you play a game (a few hours, many hours, having to remind yourself to log off and eat, etc) is directly tied to how much fun you're having with that game. Again, assuming you have the free time to play, if you're playing an MMO and logging off after a few hours, it's likely because you've had your fill of that game at that moment and now alternative ways to spend your free time have become more appealing. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm not going to sugar coat it and suggest that it's a strength of the game. If anything, it's failing to hold your interest for long periods of time.
  9. We complained about the male body art since early beta, and in that time since then nothing ever changed. I don't even recall them ever opening a dialogue with us about our concerns on this topic. So, I wouldn't get my hopes up despite what my signature says.
  10. Myself and others complained heavily about this in WoW and Blizzard implemented it (rather quickly, all things considering). It just makes sense. It comes down to the idea of "risk versus reward", with the risk being the encounter and the reward being a mix of credits, XP, and sometimes and item. The problem was that once you reach max level the XP part of that reward became pointless, and so the rewards were no longer balanced with the risk. Thankfully, Blizzard recognized the legitimacy of the complaint and fixed the situation by providing max-level players with increased monetary rewards in place of XP. It really didn't take much convincing to get them to see the logic, and the change was implemented rather quickly.
  11. It's not rude, it's their choice. You are trying to force that choice out of their hands with the threat of bad manners and poor behavior. I'm sure there's a word for that. I already explained why people might not want to group: Finally, despite advocating the passive and polite approach, I'll just add that I'm ridiculously good at tagging mobs first, and have very little tolerance for the type of behavior people are describing in this thread. Let's just say that you better be quick, because if you attempt to pull a ninja tag on me and fail to grab the boss-mob before I do, I am very likely to decide that I want to stick around and see what else the boss-mob drops, and out-tag you a second, third, fourth time, and so on. Trust me, you'll figure out that it wastes less of your time to be polite and wait in line eventually. Some nice guys won't allow you to finish at all.
  12. I have a sneaking suspicion that many of these people who are suggesting "group with me or face the consequences" are the same people who advise other people not to be foolish and join PUG groups whenever they voice a complaint regarding poor PUG behavior.
  13. You might want to try considering the whole box first before jumping outside of it. Unfortunately, your suggestion makes the entire crafting effort I'm undertaking pointless, and I mentioned this already in my first post. It's bad enough this problem puts me in a position where I can't even craft gear my own level without going broke (and why was also explained in the first post).
  14. I bet you would start to understand the appeal and logic of everyone patiently taking their turn if you lost out on your ninja-tag attempt several times in a row. But, since that doesn't seem to be a problem you run into, you're willing to take advantage of the slower reflexes/ping times of others because you know there isn't anything they can do about it. I think that about sums your behavior up.
  15. I think you're confused about who exactly is getting the help here. If you come across a player or small group waiting to kill a quest boss, clearly they were ready to take it on without your assistance. You're the one who suddenly showed up and wants to tag along for the ride, and not everyone is going to be open to that suggestion. Would you accept every random invites when you're out questing? I doubt it. Sometimes people just don't want to group with strangers for a number of reasons, especially strangers like you who are apparently ready to become rude and disrespectful in the blink of an eye. Can't say I blame them for not wanting to invite you along.
  16. It applies. What you're basically saying is that without fear of consequence, you're ready to be a jerk. It's a shame that's all that keeps some people in line.
  17. It's not really an offer to help them if it's coupled with a threat to cut in front of them out of spite if they refuse. You're pretty much just saying "do me a favor, or else".
  18. You can't assume there's a line at every pump? Really? I have to spell that out for you? Let's not use minor details to ignore the point, please.
  19. Players have their reasons, even if you can't understand them. Some people may want to take the boss on their own because combat in this game is simple enough as is without throwing a group at a mob (and these types of bosses are one of the few places you can find a halfway decent challenge. Another issue (and this has happened to me) is you try to be nice and invite the player who just arrived along (even though you don't need his help), a great item drops, and he rolls need on it (even though his character can't use it) and wins. Then you get frustrated that you did the player a favor in the first place, complain about people rolling need on items they can't use on the forums, and get a bunch of braniacs writing back about how you shouldn't join pickup groups. Always fun. It's not difficult to imagine reasons why people might decline these group offers. Just be patient and wait in line like they did. Don't feel like it's ok to force yourself into someone's group.
  20. To answer your question, how would you act in the real world? Let's say you arrive at a gas station after a thirty minute drive, and there's a line of cars that have been waiting for fifteen minutes. As you arrive, the pump they're waiting for suddenly becomes available. Are you going to cut in front of everyone and risk getting a real life beatdown, or get in the line behind everyone else like you know a thing or two about manners?
  21. Or, they could just make it so the toggle feature is disabled at level 49, since 50 is the cap anyway and out-leveling the content becomes a non-issue. That seems simpler, and it doesn't remove my option to enjoy some PvP as I'm leveling up. Personally, as a low level character shoved in the same bracket with higher level characters, the level 49 twink in the battleground would be the least of my worries. There is always going to be a big dog in that yard no matter what. Whether it is the same dog sticking around or not makes zero difference to me.
  22. To touch on the point of the original post, though, I can't help but believe that this undertaking would be a higher priority if marketing were prohibited from using the higher resolution textures for gameplay screenshots until they were actually available to players also.
  23. While I understand this concern in other MMOs (some of which already offer an xp-toggle feature), I don't see it as being a potential problem in SWToR. Equipment-wise, what can a level 49 character accomplish with an XP-toggle that he can't already accomplish using orange equipment and purple armoring/mods/enhancements/etc? You don't need to wait for an XP toggle to twink in this game. You can do it right now.
  24. By the way, anyone who doesn't "get" or understand the request has either not read the first post in this thread in its entirety, or failed to comprehend it. Because everything was covered in detail there. If you don't get it and are seriously looking for answers, it makes more sense to just try reading it again rather than waiting someone to re-explain a problem that was already fleshed out clearly once. And if the problem I'm describing isn't one you're having, then great for you and move on? Optional toggles don't impact you in any way.
