  1. But there are more than one group to respond or don't respond to. We both don't see responding to the offenders as having an effect (although I don't see harm in trying, we could be wrong). That's why instead I suggested informing several devs. If, as you say, the action doesn't violate current TOS (which is debatable) the devs could decide to either change TOS, instance bosses in such cases, or another solution which I'm too tired or too uninformed to consider. Enjoy your evening.
  2. Yes, it was wrong. Message the game's guild guy (if they stll have one) not to shame/punish this particular guld but to point out the issue exists to a game employee. Also message the designer of such encounters. Forum behavior has some standards; so does some game behavior. Ruling/reporting on each issue case-by-case won't solve a thing: Instancing the boss prevents such things from happening again. For those who think the only solution to rude behavior is to be rude back, they really miss the whole point.
  3. The complaint before the giggle was taken away was that everyone heard it. It'll be great to have it back but if everyone hears the giggle again ... This time, please just have it so only the person who gets the UH can hear it. This is even better than forcing other people to disable something they have nothing to do with.
  4. Please allow 2-character (or 2-digit) search. Please also allow testing of changes before implementing them to avoid problems like minimum of 3-character search.
  5. My only Flashpoint grouping with a tank in this game was when I was the tank. The DPSer didn't adjust his play at all. Therefore it was my fault and ruined his gameplay that he took 2 hits. (Would've taken about a dozen to kill him.) After that there's no incentive for me to use my tank in any group. I can only guess treatment like that is why tanks and healers are few and far between in group finder. It certainly is for my characters.
  6. Same thing happened yesterday. Played fine all morning, now can't login. 1:05 pm Central Time, Southern USA. EDIT: Fixed now. 1:10pm CST
  7. Okay, so the head honcho says the CM is a success. Does that mean some devs can now be moved back to working on the game instead of the financial model?
  8. Thanks, good to know there is a workaround until the patch to fix the patch.
  9. Can't tell - the new icon doesn't change so it can't show any info now.
  10. Please bring the working one back. It's a feature I use whenever I get a new ability. It worked very well - until today.
  11. Okay, stripping #2 down to essential info: "How we are doing" Free to Play; Cartel Market; busier servers "What is coming up next" Update 1.7; RotHC targeted at high level players "Tackle some issues head on" Endgame content ops/flashpoints/difficulty modes; new PvP areas; Plans for more with: companion; group; reasons for guilds to recruit; Plans to: improve itemization; incentives to revisit existing areas; PvP focus on Seasons/Warzones; Open World PvP taking back seat; Character copy to test server within first part of the year; Live character transfer will be coming later this year; Same Gender Romance - lot of work; as with other content has been delayed because of going F2P; buy RotHC and get SGR with some Makeb NPCs =========================== My personal impressions: It's very disappointing that how the game is doing only mentions ways to pay. What does "improve itemization" mean? Plans for a "diverse array of activities" don't mention any minigames at all. No mention of any more customization at all, whether personal, companion, speeder or ship. Plans for the year seem rather thin to me.
  12. Succeeded: (1) Overall Storytelling (2) Synchronized animations of attack to defense (3) First flashpoint design (Esseles/Black Talon) Failed: The other 3 "Pillars of Gaming" The Story pillar has a lot of height. The rest of the pillars - combat (PvE sameness, PvP many flaws) exploration (rails, lack of immersion), progression (gear) - are low. Thus, the game doesn't have breadth beyond the story. Making all 4 pillars equal height makes a balanced game -- if the 3 low pillars are raised up. However, with Makeb not having individual class stories, the company has instead chosen to lower what they do best: the story pillar.
  13. I disagree off the bat that there is one poison pill for TOR. Yes, that "could" be a reason why "some" folks walk from the game. But so can anything. There are also several posts on the forums complaining mob difficulty is too easy. And others not mentioning mob difficulty in any way. And others mentioning the lack of minigames, social features, etc. Speaking only for myself - as you have done - I'm here for the story, crafting, choices which make a difference and a good space experience. So, as far as what's in the game right now, that means I'm here for the story and crafting. And I'm having second thoughts with the crafting due its diminished relevance from the item shop. So I'm just here for the story. Combat could be an extra incentive if it offered more variety. I'd prefer terrain giving combat bonuses ("I have the high ground, Annakin."). Add to that more variety in mob AI. I say that because a slider alone doesn't change flaws in the combat design. Now add a slider to the other two ... (Edit: Even with combat improvement, the game would still suffer a lack of "Star Wars feel." Empty cantinas. Mobs twiddling their thumbs. Even Tython's Flesh Raiders - supposed to be invading - are standing around and waiting. Animals standing in one spot ... no foraging for food, no migration. No day/night cycle.) Like your statements, not a decree from on high. Simply an opinion.
  14. Zero - the same amount of real money I spend in any game cash shop.
  15. 1. Enjoyed KOTOR 1 &2. 2. Advancing crafting so when my fiancee joins the game we'll have good equipment. 3. through 5. No other reasons.
  16. Excuse me, almost at the poll for the presidential election voting and I want to make sure Harold Stassen gets my support. Might not be THAT slow. But if anyone can, it will be us.
  17. Not going to buy it. I'm here for individual story. Might stick around if a complete change to space pops up before my fiancee and I finish the story (and we play v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y so that might possibly happen) but that's it.
  18. Still a moot point, as I believe those who believe in promises made/not made by gaming employees are wasting their time. However, this quote from the Examiner article does show where the OP's impression come from: So Ohlen seems to have said Makeb would be a "non-expansion." And EA employees said all "content updates, aside from expansions" would be free. And that's how the Makeb = free impression comes about. Now, do the promises mean anything? No. Is that particular to this game? No. Is that particular to this game company? No. Those who believe in promises made by ANY game company should either (a) look at the past, or (b) find another hobby. Actions speak loudest, and take less time to grasp.
  19. It's irrelevant if something was ever said/not said about charging for Makeb. The examples of broken/changed promises have sprawled across computer gaming for decades. Plans change, people change. Is it a travesty that promises count for nothing? I think so. However, that doesn't change that it happens in this biz and happens quite often. Rather then rely on any possible statement, one might consider letting actions speak louder than words; saves a lot of time and grief.
  20. Sure, people would object. I wouldn't be one of them. The advantage of doing an unknown planet is the Canon Cops can't nitpick it into unplayability. Not being a Canon Cop, I'd prefer something where at least the name might be familiar. Also, I like being able to explore more of a world - see what's really behind a painted mountain and all that. Whatever marketing gains by saying "Look! A new planet!" is probably lost by those saying "A new planet no one's heard of while more familiar ones aren't done."
  21. Oh well. Only 2 things I'm looking for in an expansion: continuation of individual class story or free-flight space. Seems that this is a "pass" for my family. Happy gaming to those who try it.
  22. If we were to go along that F2P is the core (story 1-50) game - not the entire game, an important point - you see anyone able to do anything beyond that as an advantage. By that reasoning, anyone mopping floors and not getting paid like Warren Buffett is being shafted. However, the developers (and in this case I agree with them) disagree with you. The use of the Cartel Market is the shining example - and marketed as such - for gain of conveniences and means of circumvention. Subscribing and doing the quests to earn items/advancement are the long way around, not the bonus. Being allowed to go on quests and earn their rewards is the game itself; that's not P2W. There seems to be no further point in addressing this with you, so hopefully we can both agree to disagree. Enjoy your weekend.
  23. I have loads of money. I have loads of time. My Pay-For-Items reaction in this game is in no way motivated by my money/time status in RL. A game stops being a game when people pay the referee for an advantage.
  24. The nose: "Cosmetic and convenience only" The body: "We'll sell blues" The whole camel is now in the tent. BiS gear is being sold. The devs' only expressed regret is that the price was set too high.
