  1. Estelindis, any insight on why this happens : In short, why using a single slot dye on primary will stop the secondary to propagate its unifying and vice and versa ?
  2. No no no and triple no : alterations are done on a selective basis usings masks (alpha channels) and apply only on selected layers or channels... Unifying colours wouldn't work in the first place in a system you describe. Stop inventing things please. It's buggy AND asinine !
  3. Yes and no, it's not that clear cut, we're in the 21st century now... Sorry Cel, as much as i appreciate you I really think you're wrong on that one. The current dye system is completely utterly asinine because : It's not totally backward compatible with unifying colours and actually *BREAKS* the old unify system when you're using a single slot dye, and this has nothing to do with a so called difficulty altering hues. (check other threads about the matter, especially one where Andryah did tons of research for her own understanding because she admitted she didn't know about the subject and wanted to have more infos on it : we actually ended up on several wiki pages of the Hero engine and shaders, but I digress...) As I said, this totally asinine dye system is NOT backwards compatible with the unify colour system on chestpiece if you use a single-slot dye : you will actually LOOSE the unifying on the channel that isn't used, say you dye the primary chest colour then the secondary chest colour (which remains unchanged) will stop propagating its colour to other pieces secondary colours you chose to apply the unifying to, here's the example I used in SammuelSK's thread : Again there's nothing to do with a so called difficulty of altering hues (and that was a 20th century difficulty, and maybe a few years ago difficulty, not anymore).
  4. Yes, this dye system is totally asinine ! If you place a single primary dye in your chest slot for example then you loose the ability to unify the second chest colour. Example I have a chest-piece with both primary and secondary colour that is gray-purple, if I unify my whole outfit all the primary and secondary chanels on all other pieces of gear will turn to these colours. NOW, enter dye : If I change the primary colour of the chest to say green and unify my outfit here's what I get : Chest - Green primary / gray-purple secondary (working as intended) Legging = BAM green primary ok BUT the secondary is no longer unified to the chest secondary gray-purple and reverts to the base colour of the item. Let me say it again : This is the most asinine dye system i've ever seen in an MMO.
  5. Sometimes it's a tiny feature on the bak or the trim of a pocket that uses the secondary channel, stuff like that... BUT I'll go ahead and call it a bug/user error (and by user I *do* mean the dev that "connected" the shader structure) because this secondary colour IMO has been swapped with the ternary : there *are* items that when you unify will suddenly make a weird colour appear all over your pants because it's one of those hidden secondaries. That said when you look at the item and how other versions with same mesh but different texture (shader) works then I really think some of the shaders have mismatched and swapped secondary and ternary (for lack of a better word, or we could say tiny feature layer/mask)
  6. For those who have opened packs : you only had dual-dyes ? No primary only or secondary only ? So far I've only seen people report dual-dyes in this thread right ?
  7. - Advanced white-black indestructible crystal (have one in a LS on a toon and won't show up in the collection) - CE flare gun - CE portable holodancer Oh and that report just cost you 200CC...
  8. That image reminded me of this : Warning, mild inquisitor storyline spoilers !
  9. Just what are you talking about ??? This isn't how shaders work. Just try to read some of the links we found earlier about how the Hero engine manage the shaders. The primary and secondary colour channels are probably alpha layer masks with a tint and most probably this tint is changed by the matching chestpiece, with or without using a colour algorythm... There's nothing about "files"... The texture/shader file remains the same for the piece of gear, it is probably just altered specifically through an alpha/layer for either the primary or secondary colours... Maybe with an algorythm or not...
  10. Can't be anything else than a JAWA of course !!!
  11. No... I don't think it is... DaRoamer just made some guesses on how the shader structure was and according to other discussions in a couple other threads, and maybe in this one, it doesn't seem plausible that the shader structure is made this way at all... Until a Dev comes here and confirms it's like DaRoamer think it is : I can't imagine it being this way at all...
  12. I'm guessing it will be grey/blue since the yellow dye has been destroyed when you placed the blue one. But that's just a guess. We're only 48h away from it now though...
  13. I don't think it's going to work either. Have you tried unifying it ? Does it change colour ?
  14. Thinking the same : no unify = no colour channel to play with. And pretty much the Karraga easter bell hat is a lore thingie I guess. Sorry !
  15. And some more news, I was browsing the selection of LS pics at the excellent site chemayla.net and found out it was also available for 900pvp com at the fleet vendor (I checked republic side, didn't check empire...) : lvl 34 one called Shrouded Knight's Blade...
  16. You can already test this, equip (as preview, not litterally) a maiden something (that totally white CM piece of gear, last maiden was it called ?) chest piece along with scalene leggings and see what part of the leggings get changed in the preview window (your own pants must be checked as unified in your char sheet).
  17. Hopefully the lvl 11 orange craftables are dye-able, some are very iconic and/or very nice to wear.
  18. So what's the list again and for what ? I know my SI got called : But I don't remember how or why. Is there one for say LS-V, one for DS-V and one for not being either of those ? I don't remember what lvl of LS I was when I got it... Also I did something after I finished the class story and (LOL) (Khem Val story spoiler, don't click if you haven't done all his stories) :
  19. For sets like Scalene, it's "simple", you'll be able to recolour the main and secondary parts, but as with any other pieces of gear that has a "lighting" layer : this layer remains untouched. You can test with unifying : preview for example the scalene leggings then preview various chest-pieces (make sure you have unify checked for the pants on your character sheet) and you'll see what can be dyed or not really. TLDR : all "lighting" remains whatever the colour changes A couple examples : - No matter how you dye this chestpiece the lights on the shoulders and ribs will remain untouched. - or say you want to unify this belt : the lights will remain untouched.
  20. If you see the open chest with binoculars it means the dig site is *not* depleted. When it's depleted the chest icon (the one you see in the air with binoculars) doesn't appear at all. Also, without using binoculars, just entering the zones (they're known, check here) you'll have the message if there is something to be found, and if it's depleted : no message.
  21. Well fair enough (my turn) even though I understand what your meaning of sandboxy is, let's just agree we disagree because to me sandboxy goes way beyond that, it just not is sandboxy *just* because it isn't in the theme park leveling process. - There is indeed what you call the themepark levelling process. - There are the social features, mini-games, other activities like seeker droids (something I like doing a lot these days) and other fluff you say are sandboxy and I say are not. - And then there are the real sandboxy and sandbox features, im my opinion, that exists in some other MMOS and especially not in that one. An exception would be people doing their own organization to do stuff like we see in this or that server : arena tournaments in the lawless sands, RP stuff etc... But there are no features per se or mecanisms in game to promote those. No "game rules", no systems is what i mean by nothing sandboxy in SWTOR. But well... yeah I guess I understand where you're coming from !
  22. GTN ! But don't worry there are lvl 27 versions as well, just with another name, and also I think it exists as rewards as orange too in some Heroics I believe. The names don't matter it's the shape of the hilt. There may be lower lvl versions, but so far the lowest I could find on the GTN (thus world drops) was the one I linked. Some more examples : here, here and here. (second link is actually Tatooine bonus serie reward for marauders...) So it shouldn't be hard to get 2 really... I know I already have 2 lvl 25 ones in my cargo hold waiting for the ventress wanabee toon of mine to finally reach lvl 25. EDIT : here's a pic I just did to show them in the preview window from my vault.
  23. I do agree with many things you say EXCEPT for the "sandboxy" part. There is nothing sandboxy in this game. I like many features of SWTOR : mainly the class stories, the companions (I really think they're all awesome), and several other things, but if there's one thing I've yet to find in this game (and that I like a lot) it's the sandboxy element that i rarely found in MMOs. It was awesome in SWG : the crafting, the resources, the housing and much more, and I found it scarcely in a few other MMOs that either had WvWvW such as GW2, or in the keep battles and zone control progressions of WAR, or social features like the music system in LOTRO. But in SWTOR : I don't see anything like that. I sincerely appreciate many of your posts L.Artemis but am confused about what you think is sandboxy in SWTOR ??? In fact i'd agree if you had said : It is now more appealing to the casual gamer, the Star Wars fan, the SWG fan, the person that loves personalization, sandboxy content, convenience, pets, etc. (that is : same, but minus the gray parts)
