  3. Sorry what ??? if it's done in a constructive way it *is* helpful ! That's true, but not telling them when they indeed suck, and sorry but that has happened, would let them think everything is fine whereas it's not. And anyway telling them they suck when they suck isn't meant to inspire them to work harder, it's meant as a feedback plus : Also it wouldn't happen that people tell them they outright suck in the first place if when they do something wrong they admit it and try to see if there's not a change that needs done, but when, and for many issues : the *constructive* criticism falls on deaf ears over and over and over then yes you need to understand that after several months some people start being a bit less constructive and start saying the dev suck. Nowadays it's not particularly that some of the devs decisions are stupid. It's more like the management decisions are extremely greedy and to further on : Maybe on the technical side of things, on some various topics, I can agree with that, but on the commercial aspect of it, the management aspect of it, well what I said above : the greedy aspect of it, then no, the overlap isn't so small, and in this case again : let's agree we disagree. I'm hoping this isn't directed at me particularly and is some form of you thinking it's the general behavior of people who criticize parts of the game or the management or whatever else. If it's the case I'd only tell you let's agree to disagree since I think there are many many valid concerns and constructive criticisms that are just trolled with the "defenders" side by repeating things over and over and insulting, while there are many other very valid concerns that don't even get an answer, whether that answer satisfies the poster or not, etc... if it's directed at me particularly, then you must have me mistaken with someone else because I do defend many areas of the game, while I do praise many others... Except when I do, I do it once and don't try to troll who disagree with me and come back at them over and over saying the same thing over and over. We agree on that, except for the fact that it's not outright like this all the time for starter, and secondly if you actually look at the % of posters who criticize vs the % of posters who defend, most of the time what happens from the "defenders" is a lot of repeating the same thing over and over and drowning the discussion, starting with the name calling, trying to shut down the OP, calling in the end for people to unsub : the infamous "if you don't like it go away" and as has been said already : if we're posting here it means we have a sub, thus we enjoy the game.
  4. And it's not like it's the first time we explain this... The fact we criticize because we care !
  5. It also happens that on some that are not childish nor hatred posts you still answer to them with some kind of a mean attitude.

  7. If you mean with the whole set then you haven't understood the problem...
  8. You heard of that quote with the finger pointing to the moon ?
  9. Rings a bell... Isn't that from a recent interview with Jeremy Gaffney ? Oh and btw I was happy to see the name David Bass there ! Lol someone has missed a "few" things I think !
  10. I wonder how and when they'll answer to us that this is not a bug and that's how the system works and how the shader system don't allow both single dyes and complete unifying... Of course if they ever answer to us it's a bug that'll be corrected i'll be super happy, but considering some discussions some of us have had recently (but of course we could be wrong : let's still hope for that), the future of using single dyes and unifying looks grim : Look here for example, some users have insights on why it happens. Start looking at the middle of page 3 then what follows on page 4.
  11. They're using a dart board to find the pricings !
  12. Well Alec, be honest, DO use the preview window with that dark red/orange dye on and pass through all adaptive armor chest in the preview window, for example browsing all chests at the GTN : You'll be surprised : it looks awesome on many many chest pieces. Try on the restored triumvirat chest and cry because that chest can't be dyed actually and it does indeed look awesome on it... it's all a matter of taste for sure but that combo can look pretty sweet on many many pieces...
  13. Well maybe you don't but maybe many others do ? The merit of single colour dyes (IF this was working properly) would be to keep interresting primary or secondary colours your gear already posess. And if you were wearing that gear before 2.1 it must mean you liked at least part of it, at least for many it's not only the mesh (shape) but also the colours, right ? Since you were genuinely interrested in knowing more about how shader structures worked (and I mean it, no snark here : I do remember our friendly "digging" on the Hero Engine wiki in another thread) you might be interested in reading what someone with some insight may have to say in this thread (if you haven't read it already) : check for the user Estelindis : very interresting stuff there.
  14. And what's your stance on the fact it's not backward compatible with unifying when using a single colour dye on a chest piece ? Because using the same logic I can say : And guess what... we can't unify anymore when using single-colour dyes.. before we could.
  15. They're really shooting themselves in the foot with that one and there will be much less dye sales just because of this. I think pretty much everyone who has good taste uses at least a couple, if not more, of lvl 15 or under lvl 15 orange pieces... I was browsing through all my toons yesterday and most of them have some pieces that can't be dyed. Couple that with the fact that single colour dyes placed on the chest *breaks* the unify chain propagation on the other colour (dye your chest piece primary only and the chest secondary will not unify anymore with legs, gloves, pants, boots, etc : utter disaster : back to pre-unify clown era...).
  16. Can't be dyed but can unify, actually I use the pants on my two shadow toons, and I can tell you that for the one wearing a hot-brown outfit the pants looks really cool. Also, as i said earlier it is one of the pieces that don't show a secondary so thus I used it on my second shadow as well and was happy to be able to emulate an all-white toon with a white-don'tbotherwithsecondcolour duo crafted dye and could almost recreate the look of the Ultratech-LONG-LOST-stalker robe (there's just a tiny part on it that shows secondary but it's ok).
  17. Well not the hat though and this hat is particularly interresting when you unify the colours. I use it on Tharan Cedrax with an orange/black brown outfit (not a dyed one) and I love it. Come on : a hat with goggles ! Also I used it on my scoundrel with a white/gray outfit back in the days when I was doing Hoth and I loved it (I dress my characters accordingly to the planet : On Quesh they all wear a filter mask of some sort, on Hoth I dress them in white with warm clothes, etc...) Well with a bit of luck and depending on the outfit the current red/brown one can look very good for a Jedi : I've yet to find the right outfit for it but my guess is it could render nicely for an earthly tone clad toon. But that can be said for most crafted or vendor bought duo-dyes : some combos are plain horrible and I don't see myself using any at all. Only exception is if you're extremely lucky and you use an outfit where the secondary colour is not showing on your unified pieces then it means you can use a primary colour you like from a duo-dye and don't bother with its secondary : I've had the luck with one of my toon, just had to change the pants to "hide" the secondary colour.
  18. I finally finished the 2 sets a week ago or so. Truth is i got like 5 or 6 belts for the star forager one before I found the boots, and boots were the last piece I found for the dreadseed set, but I think I got "only" 4 belts before the boots. I also got the same problem on Tatooine for the Star Forager set : had 7 or 8 gloves before I got the hat... That said, I found Hoth to be the most interresting one to find vehicle pieces, especially in the crystal area since it takes more time to find the treasure there than in other areas and the vehicle pieces don't deplete the zone so you always end up with something real nice to show for even if someone else depletes the zone or if you do and get a crate with 6 basic coms...
  19. Thanks a lot Estelindis. So in essence, one tint map will manage 2 main colours and only use a single alpha mask (since the rest of the item : ternary colours, etc... are unchanged) for what can be altered or not, instead of one alpha mask per main colour making them alterable independantly ? EDIT : see, the other day, with a couple other forum posters we were wondering and exploring the Hero Engine wiki and trying to guess on how it was managed. Pages such as this one for example (ctrl-F "tint", etc...), or this one with specifically this shader mod for Maya (the software I know, so an image I can "read" he he).
  20. Someone hasn't been playing a lot of games recently...
  21. I'll answer that one : I would add this to the Armor dyes section : FEATURE FIX: The new dye system isn't backward compatible with unify from chestpiece and we're losing on functionality here. See : if you add a single slot dye to your chest then this one (the new one) will unify and the other colour will no more unify. If before using a dye I have a chest that has those 2 colours, for example, dark brown and light brown and you unify then all the remaining pieces of your outfit will be in a dark brown/light brown style and that's nice. Now add a single slot colour to your chest piece : For example you choose to replace the primary dark-brown with black, what will then happen is : For the chest piece it works as intended, primary has been switched from dark brown to black and secondary theme of your chestpiece is still light-brown. Rest of the gear however is : pants : primary black (fine) and secondary blue (the original pants colour before you had turned it light brown by unifying) boots : primary black (fine) and secondary red (the original boots colour before you had turned it light brown by unifying) gloves : primary black (fine) and secondary purple (the original glove colour before you had turned it light brown by unifying) etc... That's a HUGE loss of a previous feature...
