  1. Now that server merges are underway and some folks have lost their character or legacy names, will we be seeing some sort of name change service or full on character re-customization service (either paid or free)? As an example, all of my character names were tied together via a theme. Now that I have lost a good number of those names, I am interested in renaming some of my characters that were not forced to change when I transferred (read as: I would be willing to pay for renaming and/or re-customization; as I am sure many others would be as well).
  2. Are you at a point with server transfers that you may be able to disclose what criteria will be used in determining which realms are used as destination realms? I am on Sanctum of the Exalted (US RP=PvE) and am curious if I should be looking to secure some names on other servers. In regards to free character transfers, will you using these to address faction balance issues (ie. only allowing free transfers for republic characters to servers with high imperial populations or vice versa)?
  3. That may be the case, but the post you quoted was talking about the CURRENT (Cataclysm) trees, not the vanilla trees (see below). The MoP talent trees are terrible. It is just giving you a new ability (or alteration to an old ability) every 15 levels. /snore
  4. Perhaps you missed the entire first portion of that post which read "Keep in mind that at the beginning of A New Hope" - which gives a clearly defined time frame for my reference. Using "Luke's era" was a mistake on my part, but still doesn't change the statement that EU Jedi seem to be more powerful/skilled than non-EU Jedi (especially since anything that is not the six movies is considered EU). If you want to split hairs on my poor word choice, be my guest. Either way, the point stands that Sateele Shan could have mastered a technique that would allow her to do the incredible feat of bare hand lightsaber blocking/deflection/absorption. Which is actually what this thread is discussing. And if we want to break the fourth wall on this one, the REAL reasons EU Jedi appear more skilled/powerful are: A) The movies were limited by available technology B) There is a virtual army of writers working on EU stuff. Of course they are going to expand upon the powers displayed in the movies. C) George Lucas hasn't said these things can't happen. In fact, he seems to welcome additions to the Star Wars Canon (even if it is because it keeps the lights on at the ranch and keeps him in an endless supply of flannel). If he didn't welcome additions, we wouldn't have this game, or these forums.
  5. But that happened AFTER the movies (which, ironically, would be EU). My point is that the Jedi in TOR are more knowledgeable/skilled than Luke Skywalker was in the MOVIES (even after he became a "Master" in Return of the Jedi). Your statement also supports the notion that ALL EU Jedi are more powerful/skilled than those shown in the films (since EVERYTHING outside of the films is considered EU).
  6. Keep in mind that at the beginning of A New Hope, the Jedi order had been wiped out of the galaxy for the better part of two decades (Yoda was hiding on Dagobah and Obi-Wan was playing in the Tatooine sandbox). All the teachings/knowledge of ancient Jedi techniques was all but lost at that point. It makes complete sense that the EU Jedi (specifically those from before the movies) are more skilled/powerful then Jedi from Luke's era... THEY HAD MORE KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING!
  7. As long as those complaints are presented in a mature, constructive manner then I would think there shouldn't be an issue. However, a very vocal selection of people have chosen the "OMG TOR suckzors" route instead of putting any effort into being constructive. Why? Because it is easier to make broad and general negative comments than it is to make a calm, collected, and mature post pointing out the reasons why someone feels the game is bad. We play video games on the internet. I could go into a long explanation about the social ramifications of that simple statement, but John Gabriel (from Penny Arcade) sums it up nicely with a simple picture. http://tcritic.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/greaterdickwad.jpg
  8. Kamino - But you will have to include swimming and underwater areas to do it justice.
  9. Are there any plans to make a SWTOR applet for the Logitech G510 and/or other similar devices that have the LCD display? It would be really cool to have some of the in game info available by just glancing down at the keyboard.
  10. A SWTOR applet for the G510 would be awesome! Any news on this?
  11. Only crafting professions (artifice, synthweave, armstech, etc) have new patterns you need to purchase for advancement. Mission and gathering skills (arch, TH, UT, Slicing, ect) don't have new trainable missions or abilities. As your skill raises in these professions, you automatically get new missions that can be selected via the crew skill window. Hope this helps.
