  1. That is a loader screen. The difference between the black loading screen and a normal one is that the black one doesn't have the "loading" bar implemented into it as it loads a very small zone. They knew that they will be bashed for them so they made an attempt to make it look different which it didn't worked. Edit** play in window mode, open task manager and look at it while on the black screen. HDD/CPU ratios will top the chars as they do on normal loading screen.
  2. The problem is tho, that even Bioware promoting trailers were saying that they were working on give player stuff that "other mmo's" wouldn't do because they listen to the communty. To give you an example, they even mentioned the fact that they will focus a lot on PVP to make it balanced, something that in other MMO's has been a major issue because the other game developers won't listen to players feedback. Now when you make statements like this you are directly attacking the big brothers, aka. the mmo games that are actually leading (ie WoW) and placing yourself in a position that say "hey, my game is better than yours" thus making it official that they are entering the competition and challange the top. By doing that, posting trailers and keeping strong that we dit this and that, people are seeing it and slowly they move from their usual played game to Bioware's (which is what they want) because they see that the game has potential. Now, when they came from wow, rift or you name it, they have an "expectation" of what an MMO STANDARD should be. Actually, when you see that the things are different, with stuff stock UI, no macros etc just, naming some they feel dissapointed. I'm not protecting wow, not saying that it is the perfect game, but I also felt fooled by the things Bioware said about the game and were not true. You will want proof? And now the game fails on one for their most strong features, pvp, Ilum... on the first major patch!!! There is your proof. My point is... when you enter a competition you are constantly fighting against the best and if you are not able to keep up you will fail and a good start is to have some standard and basic thing implemented already. Which they are not. I like game and I want it to be at the top, yet it does not deliver that standard mmo requirements. Why am I not tolerant? Changegle interface. I don't want blue layouts all over the place on my screen. Give me the ability to design my own layout. Addons, yes they exist for years, yet, Bio can't fix it in 2012.
  3. You know why they are speaking about it? It's because people like you. Ppl like you bring the WoW back to subject just by writing it down. I play both of them and yes, WoW it's a better game (now that you ask for) by far and by any means that's my POV and yes i's called freedom of speach. Just because SWTOR is 1 year, 5 or 10 years younger, doesn't mean that they couldn't implement things already known in the MMO world. That is not an excuse!!! Bioware should have learned the lesson. So, stop feeding the trolls then!
  4. Don't be too fooled by it, once you enter 40+ planets you will suddently find your quests yellow and surpised by some orange class ones:)
  5. The only way to bind 2 abilities to a key is the all mighty way the whole forums are crying about NOT to be implemented in the game. It's called a macro. EDIT* Even if you could without macroing it, that won't be possible. Any command/spell needs to be designated to a hotbar slot (even if it's hidden). If it's not placed in the hotbar, the game will not consider it binded.
  6. If I'd play on my 50 yes I'd get bored, but atm I am just leveling my other classes to 50 as much as possible and that keeps me busy. The only thing that makes it less entertaining now for me at least, it's the immense ammount of travel. I just miss Eve Online ingame browser to do other staff (in between) rather than doing completelly nothing and staring at my screen and moving the mouse a bit for 3-4 minutes till reach the mission destination.
  7. No. definitelly not. The main reason is that most of the friends I'm playing with are not resubbing. The usuals are known: very choppy content at 50, the mighty UI, abilities delays, bad programing code making castings cancels if the animation isn't completed or the cast bar delay and you guessed it macro's. We believe these are factors that cannot be missed in an MMO. It is astonishing that most of the other mmo have those things and SW:TOR doesn't. However, this does not mean we do not like the game. We all still like it and we all agreed that it's a very nice game and has a lot of potential, but with those things in the way they will only annoy us more rather than enjoing it. We decided to give it a break before calling it off for good. To avoid fanboys start crying, we decided the following: Give SW:TOR 3-6 months of development to improve things and give it another serious shot. Classes will be nerved, others buffed, positive and nevative things will take place, so we decided to leave the already 50 mains in dust (I already have a BH and a SA) and level as many classes to 50 as possible for hehe, you guess it, rerolls. Just a precaution. When we will be back, we can reroll the class we desire acording to the changes and give it another go.
  8. E. Yes option E. It has happened to me a lot, mostly in a cave or a room that needs to be cleared. It is a good moment, for me to get a fast drink/toilet order something do x, by letting them clear all the trash till the objective and then paying them back in the same way. No, you can't tell me I am harsh or disrespectful. If someone does this he knows what is he doing wrong. I mostly wait for them to get theirs or help them kill their mobs. I have a word saying: If you're an ******* with me, I am an ******* with you
  9. I have no experience or proof on why the space combat it is as it is . But I do think that it has to do with the engine itself. Some engines are not designed for an specific gametype as it simply needs to be optimized for it. A space gametype means that the engine needs an interesting algorythm of rendering let's say an specific ammount of asteroids on different size and shapes, you name it. Either way, just because we're playing Star Wars doesn't mean this is a Space related game at all.
  10. I'd say regular... I use an old Logitech G3.... best investment of my life (in computer therms speaking:)). Simple mouse, simple shape, 6 buttons. It has done his work working 7-8 hours daily since 2006. Now he lowly starts to show signs of retirement... unfortunately it's discontinued. I'd buy 50 of them if I could find a seller:)
  11. Where the hell is Jeek? Went trough different websides but none of them can point it's accurate location. I want to level not search for 30 minutes for a mob to turn in a quest... I wonder who was the smart developer doing this quest. Anyway, can anyone point me to Jeek's location on Tattoine?
  12. Your most popular option if you want good quality, is: Fraps and Dxtory. Neither of them are free, but out of the 2 Dxtory offer more options and cutomization. Keep in mind, that recording movies, takes a massive ammount of hdd space. Also you will need software like Vegas or Premiere to make nice movies (if you want to go a bit deeper) but you can of course use free/ms programs as well.
  13. Just because some people don't have any problems, it doesn't mean other ppl's pc's are having it because of cooling problems. I have the same issue and all other 37 guildies of mine. Run a temp check program and you will have it too, in fact NONE of those who posted that are clean aren't. It is a common issue on this game to increase the temps by 20-30%. On top of that I have tested the game with 2 different cards running on stock gpu cooler and both behaved the same way.
  14. When do you guys are going to realize there is no WAY to tell how much players are playing the game. Neither Blizzard or Bioware are allowing server numbers to be seen. On a side note, what OP posted it's based on Census, which practically caches every character/guild searched and adds them together. Most of the time it is outdated With all your cry and try to defend SWTOR, there is no way they have more active players logged in at this very moment of posting than WoW. I believe that if you put the players of SWTOR and WoW side be side now, WoW still wins by a far margin and no, I'm not even including Asian side. WoW simply has too many servers, I believe lastly reported was 421.Now to your own belief, let's make a simple math: People are saying that wow has at peak 250k users? now my question to you is: 250000/421=593 Do you really think, but do YOU, think that every wow server has only 593 ppl loged at the same time?
  15. You guys are just.... grow the F*** up!! You guys don't even know what you really want. World of Warcraft, it is blamed because, LFR destroyed the game, this and that is not good, but it's playing smooth, it has addons etc, Yet in the end all says WoW sucks, but the whole forum agrees it's still better than SWTOR. Then you are talking about SWTOR, this and that is not good, there isn't any LFR/LFD, no addons, no macros, but it has a great storyline...yeah, but wait I don't want addons cause it will break the game, yet there is delay. OMG the game sucks, yet people are still loving it. If you like the taste of oranges more than strawberries, then there is no way in the world you'd say strawberries are better. No matter what!!!! Or otherwise. Different games, they will never be the same. If you don't like it, don't play it. It's as simple as that.
  16. Yeah it's frustrating I know, but you should accept the way the game has been made. They focused more on the storyline acts (a lot of dialogue) rather than keeping the player play the game. The result was in balancing the game by making very few missions, with an incredibly high ammount of travel time but compensated by extremely long storylines. It's time consuming, but gives the feeling that you're in fact very busy with the game. My girlfriend discribed it as the following (which made me LOL irl): "You know what, it's like tv movie; You see the movie for 45 minutes, these are the accepting/turning mission ingame. After that you have 10 minutes of commercials, which is in fact the ammount of time you actually play the game".
  17. I want a timer. I cannot express my fealings about: --How many times I said, I need a coffee, finally decide to go make one, just to find out there was already a cold one laying there, made many minutes earlier. --How many times playing and starving but with the "gonna turn this mission in -- of finish this thing" and then gonna go eat, finally ending up by doing it 3 hours later. I still want my timer!!!
  18. Ohhhh ze flirts. I didn't want to use the names I use in any other games but couldn't come up with a good one. Made the huge mistake to name my character after my gf's cat name. I know now why ppl are so nice ingame with me... It is now impossible to be in grp with someone else who "must" check if I am a chick... So no more flirts pls:D
  19. People are still clueless, but now let us show them in popular terms what it is in fact, copied from addonwiki. "In plain English, an AddOn is just some files you can put in your game folder that can (theoretically) improve your interaction with the <removed game name> game (i.e. make it easier to play, or give you more information about what's going on in the game)." That is the whole purpose of the whole discution. Now let's answer those that think it's a hack!! Same page, official rules: (Especially read rule 3 and 7" AddOns must be free of charge. AddOn code must be completely visible. AddOns must not negatively impact <removed game name> realms or other players. AddOns may not include advertisements. AddOns may not solicit donations. AddOns must not contain offensive or objectionable material. AddOns must abide by <removed game name> ToU and EULA. <removed name> has the right to disable AddOn functionality as it sees fit. Now either we're talking WoW or TOR or any other game that uses addons/mods we are talking about the same principle. Before starting to blame something, you must be sure you understand what you are blaming. Yet many people think that if you have the ability to know when a boss/player casted something which let's say, will stun or cause you harm, means that you have an unfair atvantage. That is not the case, because an addon or macro, does NOT have the ability to alter game's controls by doing something that is forbitten by the game. They are simply offering better visuals and detailed info on screen. Also it's worth mentioning that if addons/macro's would be considered hacks as people state here, no other games (which already uses them)would have accepted the use of them. Suit yourself with the original wiki page and learn something
  20. LoL, you are so wrong. Maintenances are generaly made when there is the lowest peak of activity possible. Which is 90% of the situations when people are sleeping. Just because they do it on a Wednesday or Friday o/w, there will still be more poeple active in the daytime than in the night. Just a few examples: My ISP: they rarely do maintenance that needs to shut down my internet connection, but once a year it happens for 3-4 minutes. Their announcement is that the maintenance will occur at a specific date "between 3 and 5 am" to avoid massive disconnections. World of Warcraft yay!!!!! Their maintenance on my server usually happends every wednesday between 4am and 11am, but generally the server is up at 9am. At my work, we do upgrades in the night, mostly after 1am, even if our daily work program is 7:30-16:15. Edit** In our case here, it means that Bioware does the maintenance from US only and doesn't have an European team as WoW for example. This is the reason of why the maintenance occurs at odd times in Europe.
  21. LoL, I want addons and macros, tbh I never saw anyone on those forums saying that they are in some way hacks!!! Most people that are against them, are generally people that don't fully understand how they work or what is in fact the beneft of having them. No offence btw. I don't have anything against them it is their right to refuse them, but what makes me mad, is the fact that they refuse to accept new features that they DON'T need to enable if they don't want too.
  22. It's called freedom of choice. No game developer, bank, government or any other institution has the right to deliberately force anyone make a specific decision simply because of an reason called "favoritism" which in legal therms it's translated as "discrimination". In our case, server ratios CANNOT be balanced by the game developer itself, because it's player's decision only, to choose that to play. If Bioware or any other game developer, would make rules about the issue, the above statement would become active, as who will be choosen to play what and WHY?! The only way they could balance the ratio is to auto transfer people cross servers when a server ratio becomes unbalanced but this will cause a mega rage.
  23. First of all, low lvl or not, join a guild. It's a must!!! The second thing that comes to my mind is to decide what player do you want to be. -A casual, just messing aroung and have fun nothing serious, or be serious and invest time in the game, lets say in order to explore the game from every possible way and from there: Learn as much as you can about your character and how it should be played, it's very important to understand what happened in some situations, how to avoid unpleasent things, but more importantly it will help you enjoy what you're in fact playing, caus eif you're not, it will demotivate you. At 50 do what every one is doing. Go pvp and grind you some gear, or group with randoms or "highly" advised, if you have an guild play with them by pvp-ing, raids etc, friends/guild mates are important because it will make your game much more enjoyable. Or you can just role play if you want. Or just work to improve your character's proffesions, grind/farm things to get rich if you want, achieve things that not many people have... you name it, use your main to sponsor your alts, there isn't a specific pattern. The problem is as in every other mmo, by playing it means you have to constantly improve your character, just like in RL and at some point while ppl get better and better and greedy where will be roadbloacks, like lets say, it will be hard to join a raid or participate in a grp event if you don't have anough experience or gear. It's not that you have to be top notch or have the best possible experience/gear, but as everyone there will be times when you'll need something that you can't achive alone and in order to acomplish it, you will need help. No one in fact can tell you what to do, it IS up to you to find yourself a path, something that you alone enjoy the most:)
