  1. If we cut this thread down to just the useful posts, we'd still be on the first page. It's really sad that these forum posts always seem to devolve into arguments and accusations. There's just too much elitism going on. The OP is asking for a guide because they are useful, just like an instruction manual is. Nobody *needs* one, but most of the time its much easier to figure things out when you read how things can (or probably do) work.
  2. I think every time you hit the button, you need to follow through with the ticket stating "i hit it again" Incidentally, who put that stupid WINDOWS button right next to the ALT button? Can this thing be remapped too? And ALT-TAB...Do not press this when fighting!! Can I remap ALT-TAB? *innocent*
  3. Is this ram issue affecting everyone? Because I don't seem to have it (and I only have 4gigs). I have numerous other windows open as well when I play, most notably Firefox with about 30 website tabs opened. I don't even have much swap space left either...main harddrive is down to 10gigs. I really need to clean things out! Maybe it's an issue with certain versions of Windows? 32-bit vs. 64-bit? I use 64-bit Win 7.
  4. They need to create a "complaints" forum so the rest of us can ignore it. This general forum is pretty much useless due to all the ************ and moaning that goes on...sometimes it's reasonable ************, but 90% of the time, it's downright obnoxious.
  5. Doesn't Accuracy help with healing crits? If so, another reason IS is good. Edit: Nevermind, IS is Aim.
  6. I've played a Commando to 42 so far, going up though Medic as far as you show...though I did pick some different skills. The Field Triage is extremely useful. Especially if you are relied upon for healing...when @#$ hits the fan, you will be spamming MP and AMP (Advanced Medical Probe). Without Field Triage, you will run out of energy quick. Also, Steady Hands help you cast your healing abilities without as much delay when you're in the thick of things. This is super important when @#$@ hits the fan and you need to spam heal to keep up. I think what people are trying to say is that this build is more like a secondary healing build...only meant to heal when the main healer is having problems keeping up. But, you went so far up the Medic tree that you're losing out on abilities that could make you a good DPSer...so, you're sort of 1/2 and 1/2. I wish Hybrid builds were good, because I am sort of looking at doing this as well (trying to get at least Grav Round (though not sure how powerful it will be without any accompanying abilities).
  7. No offense, but auto attack is the most retarded concept and completely ruins fluidity in combat (IMO). I will never support an auto attack feature, despite how often I hit that Windows key accidentally during combat and panic trying to get back into the game!
  8. I will say this: I LOVE the voice overs. But, that was the first time through. The second time through, I find myself spacing (sometimes). I'm sure I'll be spacing more as I go through the same quests more often. I do think they can fix this, however... If the dialogue was a little more dynamic and/or they had more choices. Or, if they just gave us more planet options for leveling up...we could level on Taris from 10-20 with one character, then on planet X from 10-20 with another character, etc. They'd just have to fix up the main quests to allow players that flexibility. I do not wish for a second, though, that they spent more time on other things than VO for the initial release. I really enjoy the VO's. But, I do think they need to keep truckin' and improve on the VO's and improve on (and include more of) the other content. I am having a lot of fun with this game. I don't play it every day. And I don't play it for hours on end. And I don't have a 50 yet...though in less than 2 months, I made level 42. That's farther than I've ever leveled an MMO character before (and I've played CoH and LoTRO for years). Can't wait to see how this game develops.
  9. Server lag. You need to upgrade your connection. Kidding!!
  10. I will say this, leveling my trooper (as my first character) soon began to overwhelm me. I no longer could just throw buttons anywhere I wanted. I'm used to 1-5 (or so) and alt-1-5. This game requires another 5 or so buttons on top of that (of regular use). So, I really had to take a look at how I wanted these bound. I refuse to mouse click anything that requires quick reaction...so, all the combat abilities had to be bound. I managed to fit them all into a place where I (mostly) have quick access to them. But, the few *panic* abilities could not be put in easy to access places (ie. in #'s 7-0). What's worse, I usually forget about these buttons, since I don't use them very often. Pfff... I kind of like having so many buttons, because it keeps things interesting and makes me think constantly. But, there is going to be a point where things become too much. I think the Trooper/Combat Medic is right at that limit (for me). Which reminds me...I may have to bind some of my mouse buttons (only have a few, but that could help).
  11. Unfortunately, everyone seems to think they know what's best. So, there's very little in healthy discussion on these forums.
  12. Is that what you're doing with this post?
  13. Thanks for the feedback. It's been very difficult to find info on the Combat or Focus tree. Everyone wants to talk about Watchmen, which makes me think they are inferring everyone is already lvl 50 and/or PvP'ing. There needs to be guides that offer new players input on each of the trees, so they can make informed decisions.
  14. Why do people complain about the dialogue? You don't like to hear it, spacebar through, that's fine. If it was just text, you're probably still ignoring it. I certainly think there are things they can do to spice up the interactions/dialogue in the game, but I will never enjoy another text based MMO the same way I used to. And yes...I do spacebar through the quests sometimes (if I've done them before). No big deal to me. Sometimes, I'll sit through the dialogue just to marvel at the conversation my character is carrying on (despite how brief it is sometimes). My biggest gripe with some of the dialogue is that so many aliens speak gibberish and I end up reading anyways...it can get mildly annoying to hear alien after alien quack along while I try and read (sometimes can't even keep up with some sections!). I just look forward to them improving on what is there now.
  15. They really need to add more response options. I think they should also clarify some of them...or add emotional cues, such as (threat) to indicate what the damn response is. One time I picked a neutral response, and it was totally not what I expected. Actually, it happens often unless you pick the top/bottom options.
  16. What they really need (not immediately) is a barber shop...and a plastic surgeon
  17. This is a great thread. But, you did not discuss the other two trees. It seems that everyone goes over (and recommends) the Watchmen ablities, but does not discuss Focus or Combat. I was hoping to see a details discussing each of the trees.
  18. Wow, I seriously can't even keep up with this thread I will say this, though...nothing we say/do here is going to change the way people play in the game now. The only way things will change is if BW makes a change with the system. Until then, we're all going to be frustrated and angry with each other and the community is never going to get any friendlier. We need BW to realize there is an issue and it's causing a lot of grief in the game when two people have opposite opinions over how the system should be used.
  19. The fact that this thread is still going is proof the system needs to change. If there's something we all know, it's that many people will take advantage of any and every opportunity they can to further their own needs. This causes frustration and hatred within the community. The NEED/GREED system NEEDs to go.
  20. Seriously, maybe the OP should be ember assed with his inability to spell. Sorry, having a frustrating day
  21. The truth of the matter is, the game caters to being played solo and gives little incentive to grouping. In fact, if you group, standard content just becomes 10x easier because it was designed for solo play. Even instanced missions do not scale (correct me if I'm wrong)... I want a challenge. But, I want to do it with others...and I can't go from 1-50 on HEROIC's and FP's alone. This game needs to provide more incentive to group without making solo play undesireable or too difficult.
  22. The most recent MMO I've played is CoH (though I used to play many). Grouping in that game is exceptional. In fact, it's almost required to have fun (at least IMO). It's relatively easy to find groups and people stay in those groups for more than 1 mission at a time. In TOR...nobody wants to group except for the missions that require it. I even find that I don't want to group with people outside of FP's and HEROICS. But, I really wish this game would encourage grouping more. Grouping should not need to be required to play the game. But, it should be encouraged by game mechanics. More so than just this social point system...which I think is cool, but needs to be expanded.
  23. I did see a few very well put threads...among 5 million rage quits posts. It's frustrating to read the drama people put on these forums when it can be done just as well in reasonable form. Regardless, I am thankful for everyone...the level heads (mostly) and the drama queens (to some extent)...because without them, things wouldn't improve.
  24. This makes me lol pretty hard! But, hey...I am happy they are looking at the issues that people are so emotional about. This game may not be in perfect condition, but they are working to fix issues. I can't wait to see how this game progresses over the next few years...
  25. Thanks for the responses. I guess no AA for me for now. I don't want to force it on my own.
