  1. You know I've been watching debate threads about advanced class switching since the first one started and I must say this has got to be the most civil thread on it I have ever seen.
  2. I really do enjoy myself most days when I play it but I will have to say that if significant improvements to the game aren't in a year from now I will probably unsub. I know 'improvements' is a subjective term but I do have my own ideas of what I would like to see and I really don't feel like paying for another monthly subscription for years in a game that is lacking some features that I felt should have been in from the beginning and I darn sure don't want to see 'look another flashpoint! another operation! another warzone!' as their sole idea of giving us more content. I'm giving them plenty of time and I'm sure they'll amaze me with something before the end of the year. I'm just preparing myself for the possibility that they won't.
  3. Faction transfers will probably never be an option. Considering that this game is focused on telling particular stories with its classes Bioware probably doesn't like the idea of you being a high ranking Jedi and then suddenly (as far as story goes) becoming a low ranking Sith Warrior (not by level but by story). Even if they came up with a way to transfer your character and make a point for point equalization of every choice and action you made as a Jedi and overlayed it on the Sith story, then when you get expansions everyone will be going "hey you killed that one guy! hey I remember when you did that one thing!" and yet you never did any one of those things. Not to mention how do you explain what happened to all of those companions you befriended along the way? Why can't you choose to keep your Defender ship instead of being forced to take the Fury and why did they force you to take a transport ship to Dromund Kaas instead of giving you back your ship? It would really cause a lot of issues with the story which Bioware seems very intent on sticking to.
  4. Look up the guild perks for WoW's guild leveling system. It's native to the game. Not an add-on. Basically the game adds a certain percentage to the cash drops that guild members get and then auto-transfers it to the guild bank. The players don't lose any money. It is simply extra money. So if someone would normally get a cash drop of 100 gold the game will actually generate 110 gold. That extra 10 gold goes to the guild bank. The player didn't lose anything they weren't already getting.
  5. Quit being a drama queen. It's fine to want things changed but acting like this is just sad.
  6. I'm just wondering how everyone feels about the skill trees. Do you feel that the current skill tree system is an archaic design or fine as it is? It seems that some people feel that the current design, while allowing for creativity, will inevitably cause serious balance issues as was seen in WoW. If you do feel that the design needs to be changed to avoid such issues how would you do it?
  7. Gotcha. I wasn't even aware such an item existed. An 8k heal from an item in PvP is ridiculous no matter what class uses it. Stealth or not.
  8. Then that would be a problem with an item and not the class, right?
  9. Actually this isn't true. Darkness specced Assassins can heal and stealth. Dark Charge allows them a chance to heal for around 500 health in 1 out of every 2 attacks on average every 4.5 seconds, a talent that causes a 2-minute cooldown buff to also heal for 10% of their health, and another talent that allows two of their instant cast short cooldown abilities to grant a 3-stack buff that once achieved allows Force Lightning to heal them for 3% of their health every time it does damage. This is also considering that in this spec their defensive stats are greatly increased. As far as the OPs post stating that an Inquisitor stealthed and healed to full within 3 seconds after nearly being dead, not possible. Sorcerors can't stealth and their heals would not allow them to heal to full in 3 seconds. Assassins can keep their health up but they cannot heal themselves when not in combat.
  10. Morals and ethics are rarely kept or discarded based on the tools available for grouping. I had run with a great many people who were d-bags before LFG was created in WoW. The LFG tool didn't create more ninjas or jerks. A ninja was a ninja and a jerk was a jerk. The LFG tool never turned me into either one. I was always respectful and never snagged items that I had no right to. 'Blacklisting' people was a joke. For every one person who was aware of that person's previous actions and cared enough to attempt to have them ousted there were probably 10 others who had no clue or didn't care enough to try and blacklist them. Few players actually participated on the forum of a server that had thousands to be aware enough of someone being called out and more often than not someone who attempted to was ridiculed for trying to do so. Add on to that the fact that over time people tend to forget these things, name changes were made available, server transfers, and let's not forget that they could roll on another toon completely and no one would be the wiser and suddenly this sledgehammer you thought you had to rid your server of someone like that was nothing more than a squeaky chew toy. You would cause them trouble for maybe a day and then tomorrow comes and no one cares. Only the people who held on to significant grudges over a videogame continued to be bitter about it and for some sad reason vow to never forget. Meanwhile people are sitting in the fleet spamming for a group at different times of the day and many are not able to jump right into the content because you're afraid someone will commit the heinous act of being rude or taking something that wasn't theirs but that's okay because as long as you have your trusty squeaky chew toy we're all safe from people like them.
  11. Tera looks interesting to me but everything I've seen screams "niche game". It's not going to make any kind of significant dent in the MMO genre. Most people don't even know what it is when I bring it up. Guild Wars 2 on the other hand might do something but even with that game I can't shake the feeling that it will be the hotness for about a year and then decline rapidly from poor support.
  12. I wouldn't mind it. I know some worlds like Dromund Kaas and Ilum would likely be the same at all times. I don't think day or night cycles would ruin atmosphere. Only on certain worlds. The one problem that some people had though was that their schedules meant almost always playing during in-game night or day times. I would say that one way to help with that is to not make those cycles literally 24 hours. Perhaps make the transition from night to day and back again take 6 to 12 hours real time. It's not something I require in this game but honestly I would be glad they did.
  13. So we'll see you again in March?
  14. My own personal experience in WoW tells me a different story than the ones claiming that LFD destroys community. I played on two different servers with my very first toon being rolled during vanilla WoW. Both of them came long before LFD was a feature in that game. Even before LFD, community only existed as essentially three groups of people. Guildmates and former guildmates who kept ties after leaving. Elitists who brushed off those pesky, lesser casuals and constantly competed to see whose genitals were bigger (sadly I use to be a part of that group up until the end of WotLK). Finally, the obnoxious morons in general and trade chat who made a name by being obnoxious morons. There was never this grand sense of community. No matter how you sliced it, it was nothing more than separate cliques on the server. When LFD was brought in what do you think changed? Pretty much nothing. The elitists cried a little because now people were quickly getting gear and being able to raid a lot faster. They didn't corner the market. When LFR came in it was pretty much the nail in the coffin for most of them. The only ones left who had any room to strut were the ones who cleared heroic raids. The number of people who could claim to be leet solely because of their gear dropped dramatically. So the elitist community got quite a bit smaller but it still exists. There was no death of this grand community because for something to die it has to exist first. It never did. As far as I was concerned LFD was one of the best things they ever added to WoW. Some nights I could get guildies together quickly or find groups of people elsewhere. But there were also many slow nights when no one in the guild was on or too busy doing their own thing. Same with the rest of the server. Spamming chats in hopes of finding someone. So when LFD came in it pretty much opened the door for me to run those dungeons at any time and as many times as my little heart desired without having to worry about someone suddenly having to leave or being a d-bag or getting booted myself for some stupid reason ("hey sorry but our guildmate wants to run this so could you please leave?" was oh-so popular). I could be out doing whatever I wanted while waiting for my queue to pop just like the PvPers could with their battlegrounds.
  15. You really like to only take one little example and make that the basis of your argument don't you? It's still a pretty flimsy one at that. Then tell me about Sorcerors and Assassins. Operatives and Snipers. Powertechs and Mercenaries. Again, some of them have ways to do the same roles but none of them can ever be called the same class. They quite simply do not play the same. The ACs are as different from eachother as any class in WoW save for some shared skills. Once more, try telling Snipers that they're the same thing as a Mercenary specced for ranged DPS. Try telling a Juggernaut that there is no difference between them and a Marauder. It really doesn't take that much to actually think about what you're saying.
  16. Talk about grasping at straws. Ya know for as long as you would have to wait for such a day you might as well level the other advanced class instead of waiting for something that will probably never happen. Heck with the amount of time you've spent fighting this you could have leveled the other advanced class up to level 20 or 25 easy.
  17. No the one who is splitting hairs here is you. Druids could change specs to be able to tank or do caster DPS but they were not Warriors or Mages nor could they ever be. Try going into WoW and telling a Balance Druid that they are no different than a Mage. Try telling a Protection Warrior that a Feral Druid is the same as them. Might want to prepare yourself for quite a few laughs and possibly some serious insults.
  18. Sorry. You lost the battle. Please move along and complain about something else. Maybe you'll have more luck trying to change the next feature of the game.
  19. So the cleric can perform the same role as a warrior or a mage. That has nothing to do with literally being able to change your class. Role =/= class.
  20. Rift let you change from a Warrior to a Mage? No. The class system that Rift has is essentially a 4-class system with each class having a ridiculous number of talent trees you can choose from and change as you desire. It is essentially allowing you to custom create a class by mixing and matching as many as three talent trees at any time. The talent trees you choose also determine what abilities you have though very rigidly requiring you to spend certain amounts of points in that particular tree to get the abilities it enhances. Most builds don't even get all of the abilities from one tree. The Rift system is an oddity among MMOs. TOR is built like a combination of Aion and WoW. Choices but still rigid which very much makes balance much easier. I've seen the problems with Rift's class system. It's very open and free but I've seen many, many complaints in regards to particular builds being overly dominant and most others not even being close to effective. Games like that are a nightmare to balance.
  21. Lol oh your little halo doesn't fool me you sneaky devil. But on topic, yeah I'm really looking forward to 1.2 not just for what has been confirmed for it but eagerly awaiting the things for it that they haven't told us yet. I doubt what you've listed (what we know) is all that's going into it. I am expecting at least a couple little surprises. Some of what they're adding should help quiet down the amount of complaint threads like people wanting them to unlock Legacy, another same faction vs same faction Warzone so it's not always Huttball, guild banks, armor dye, UI changes, and more end-game content. Ofcourse people will always find something to complain about but at least it will be a little more focused with a game that's a little bit beefier compared to launch.
  22. You know I really hate you because I was just about to post the same thing. lol And when did you make this account? Weren't you spanked by the mods awhile ago?
  23. According to the Q&A they just did they have no plans on allowing you to switch your advanced class. They feel they are fundamentally different classes. However for those of you who wanted dual spec, apparently it's coming soon.
  24. People are leaving because they can't switch advanced classes. People are leaving because PvP gear progression is whack. People are leaving because there aren't 5 raids for endgame at launch. People are leaving because of the action bar. People are leaving because there are no mods or macros. People are leaving because high-res textures are not in the normal gameplay right now. People are leaving because there are no guild functions. People are leaving because some classes are horridly imbalanced. People are leaving because space combat sucks. People are leaving because a feature they want in the game wasn't added yesterday. Yet last night my server was full as were two others. Some were very heavy. A few more were heavy. Over half were standard. Maybe a fifth of them were light. Was the same way last week and the week before. I must be color blind and not know how to read. Sorry. I don't mean to pick on you but this whole "the sky is falling because I said it is" crap is getting old.
  25. I'm still confused and I still think I like it:jawa_frown:
