Fauerholdt
Hi guys - hoping you can help me out. I've played the game on my Macbook Pro late 2008 model - lowest settings, but high resolution with around 25-30 FPS, not the best - but playable. But lately it seems that the frames have dropped below 25 most of the time (regardless of resolution). Today I was in my first Operation - I couldn't even get it above 10 frames - I ended up setting the resolution to 800x600 and then I could get around 15 frames - playable - but barely. I would like to know if anybody have tips to the most optimal settings - I have tried changing the settings for the graphic card in the nvidia control panel - but I'm not sure im getting a higher FPS as a result. Specs: Late 2008 Macbook Pro, NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT graphics processor; and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, Snow Leopard - Running Win XP SP 3 on Bootcamp partition. Model on apple.com: http://support.apple.com/kb/SP499?viewlocale=en_US Pretty sure I have installed the latest driver for the nvidia card. Hope you can help me out guys! jbonk
This is a great thread! Im a glutton for punishment and running SWTOR on my 2010 iMac desktop with Parallels 7 and Windows XP. Everything was working great until I travelled off Korriban to my next planet. It was fine and then the latest patch came in and killed me. I've picked up some good tips here and in the process of trying them out! Edited March 9, 2012 by jbonk
Karquile
Remember, this is the Boot Camp thread. There are a couple of other threads tackling Parallels and Crossover/WINE to run the client under Mac OS X. In general, what I find to be the big "gotchas" on Boot Camp are graphics drivers, choice of which Windows is installed, your Mouse and drivers, and your Sound driver. I have success on the 2011 iMac 27" with a dedicated game mouse - I can't share the primary Mac mouse. I had to upgrade the graphics drivers from the manufacturer's website - the ones from Boot Camp didn't cut it. I use Windows 7 64 bit. THe result is very playable on that big screen. But I know that any patch could snarf it up. That's life in the wilderness.
NewWorldWorder
Hi guys, I'm playing on a late 2008 9400/9600M 2.53Ghz MBP bootcamped to Vista Home Premium 64bit with what I think is all up to date drivers. Almost everything works perfectly and I'm getting 30-50fps in most places. I can right click using the track pad outside of SWTOR, but in game the only thing that doesn't work is right click! Does anyone else have the same problem or suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Lasani
I have an iMac I bought in 2011, installed bootcamp a day ago as well as SWTOR. Unfortunately when I tried to run the program it would come up with an error code 7. I found out that this is due to my ATI Radeon HD 5***(can't remember the exact model) not being seen by my windows partition. I went to AMD's driver page (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx) and downloaded the automatic detect and install drive whilst on the windows partition of my mac. It did all the work for me and the game is running smoothly so far. How many framerate are you getting on high settings ?
MirekAndkin
*** POSSIBLE ERROR CODE 7 FIX Hi all. I'm running a mid 2010 MBP with all the factory basics. I'm not too great with computers and this might be obvious to a lot of people but this is what worked for me. Ya know when you're on your OSX part and bootcamp asks what you want to do? It says you can install Windows 7 (that's what I'm using) and there's a checkbox above that option to download Apple drivers to a disc or a USB. The first few times, I ignored the drivers thing and thought it would work anyway. After removing the Windows part to try to reinstall again, I decided to try using the drivers. So, followed the instructions for that, installed Windows again, popped in my drivers disc on my Windows side and it downloaded everything automatically. Then error code 7 disappeared and it now runs quite smoothly on the lower graphics settings. Again, that may be obvious but for those who are computer stupid like me, give that a shot if you skipped that step. SirSnoos
Hi everyone, This thread was a big help when making my decision to buy a new MBP. I had the 13in Core 2 Duo 2.4 with the Geforce 320M, I could run the game but it was leaving me wanting more than 20-25FPS.... I purchased the following configuration yesterday: 2.4 i7 750gb HD 1GB 6770M 4gb Ram 1440x990 resultion I immediately updated Lion and then began to do my boot partition. I read that Bootcamp V4.0 is ONLY available if you have Lion. I think this may fix alot of the issues out there with performance since 3.2 is the only available one for download from Apple. Please correct me if I am wrong. Anyhow back to what everyone wants to know... how does it run I am EXTREMELY pleased with the performance, I have set the native resolution of 1440x990 and have set everything to high with the exception of shadows on low. If I turn shadows to high I lose literally 10-15 FPS. When running at Max settings I am as high as 40+ and as low as 28 in certain odd areas. I also DID NOT update the bootcamp drivers which includes the graphics card, I used exactly what was provided with Bootcamp V4.0 and I have had absolutely zero issues. I do not have CCC installed. I found a bootleg download of Bootcamp V4.0 online and if I can find the link again I will add it for everyone else. Let me know if you have any questions and I hope I covered everything. In summary this config can run the game with very solid FPS using Bootcamp V4.0 drivers. See you on SWTOR!

My SSD is SATA3 6G/S, but with BootCAMP in win7. it using Standard IDE MODE!! So i search online for fix. finally make it working in AHCI mode. , it's read speed from 210MB/S up to 530MB/S . Hope this can help someone using SSD to play SWTOR and I using 2560X 1440 to play with all high but "Shadow" off. FPS is around 50-60 Fps. with shadow on. it drop to around 30 fps. I using the driver come with bootcamp. will it go faster if me change it to use Crystal drivers? and which version? Thank you.

If I were you and you have the game running as good as you have it now I would not mess around with the drivers. If you read through this thread many people have had it running well and then tried to change drivers and now they cannot even get it back to how they had it. Just my 2 cents! Bastilla
My apologies for question no. 1000 on this. My friend's specs go like this: Model: MacBook Pro 5,5 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2,26 GHz L2-Cache: 3 MB Memory: 4 GB Bus: 1,07 GHz NVIDIA GeForce 9400M: VRAM: 256 MB Will playing TOR be a pain? Or is it feasable at all? Considering Bootcamp and plenty of GB on the HardDrive. I'd greatly appreciate your help here !!! A quick Yes/No reply would also suffice! THANKS!! EDIT: Considering the first few pages of this discussion I'd give a clear thumb down to the specs above. Edited March 18, 2012 by Bastilla

zerosaint
So- here's an interesting thing. When SWTOR was about to launch I built a gaming desktop for it. Rough specs: i5 2500k GTX570 HD 8 GB DDR3 850w PSU I ran the game - all settings on high other than shadows which I kept low. I was able to do pretty much anything in game with 50-80 fps. Now, I wound up selling that rig when I bought a mid 2011 21" iMac. Specs: Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB Running Windows 7 Home premium in Boot Camp. I run with the exact same settings and lose maybe 5-10 fps at most. So essentially I have the same gaming experience. This really goes to show how poorly the optimization of the Hero Engine really is. If a high end rig can't see significant performance increase over my iMac, something is wrong. Although the 6770M is pretty good for a mobile GPU BTW, any word on when the 2012 Mac lineup is coming out? Edited March 24, 2012 by Toxen
zerosaint
BTW, any word on when the 2012 Mac lineup is coming out? It's going to depend on the release of Intel's Ivy Bridge processors. I've heard as early as April and as late as August. The 'gaming' experience on the iMac in particular is going to go through the roof.
Gailon
My wife's having a trouble with her 15" 2011 Macbook Pro running bootcamp v3.3. It's especially bad when she tries to run Mumble or Vent in the background with the game, but even when she's only running the game, she still gets random crashes to the server screen. Usually what happens is she hits a huge lag wall with like 50,000 ms latancy and lags out. She gets sent to the server select screen and gets the "Your connection to the server has been lost. If this problem persists ..." error It happens in warzones a lot. I'd say she can load in, but then is there for a minute and crashes. She was running 32 bit Win7 bootcamp but I upgraded her to 64bit Win 7 bootcamp. Unfortunately it was also around the time of the 1.1.5 patch. All graphics settings are on low, trees and grass zero percent. It seems to run AWESOME until then she suddenly is booted. She has a real high FPS (50-100 depending on location) and the game runs fine except for the lost connection. It's happening so often now, though, that she can almost not play, since she really likes to PvP. I'm running the game at the same time from my Windows desktop computer no problem. We have Fios 30 mbps internet so it's definitely not the connection. Could it be an audio driver problem since it gets worse with Mumble or Vent in the background? I'm heasitant to mess with drivers since the game seems to RUN fine until it lags out!!
zweber
I just bought a new Macbook Pro 15' and it doesn't seem to be getting the FPS that it should. I'm running Boot Camp with a partition of 150GB and Windows 7 64 bit. I haven't messed with any of the default boot camp drivers. The specs are: 2.5GHz quad core i7 8GB of ram AMD Radeon HD 6770M with 1GB GDDR5 Graphics card I'm in the Jedi starting zone and I'm getting about 28-35 fps with medium settings. I heard from someone else with the same model as me that he got 60+ fps in all areas at high. Anyone know what to do to improve the performance? Try going to ur power settings and turning graphics performance to high. This will ensure it doesn't switch to the Intel HD 3000 graphics during gameplay
Gailon
I definitely think it's the audio driver. I installed the Realtek driver instead of the Cirrus driver and that seems to prevent her from crashing, even with Mumble running! However, Now I have that classic problem of audio not working from the speakers (neither for the computer itself or the game) =( It works from the headphone jacks or the USB, though. MagicaLoya
I'm experiencing an issue almost identical to your wife's... I'm running a 17" Summer 2011 MBP i7 @ 2.20 Ghz 8GB RAM Windows 7 64-bit Radeon 6750 Now, I was having lots of issues playing Shogun II Total War, so I uninstalled the bootcamp driver for my video card and installed CCC 12.2, which seems to work alright for me - I have no problems running TOR on medium settings, and I found my FPS shot up by at least 10 once I turned V-sync off. I get intermittent amounts of lag spikes that force me off the server, and even after resetting my router and disabling/enabling my network adapter I'll still get lag, even though downloads and other things will work smoothly right afterwards. I've seen my latency go from 11 to 70,000 within the span of a few minutes, and then I get sent back to the server screen and usually kicked off of that as well, seeing the same error message as you. starphaser
Hi, everyone. I'm running TOR on bootcamp, and I've been experiencing a lot of stuttering. It's not bad FPS; the game stutters on some points, like a hiccup that lasts between 0.5 to 1 second. I've already read many things about this (like, for example, the fact that this is an engine problem, where the game reads too much out of your HDD and the stuttering will happen no matter what), but I want to know if there's a solution. This started happening *real bad* after patch 1.2 landed. I've tried installing Directx 9.0c, tried capping the FPS around 30ish, but none seemed to work. Any suggestions?
