Ianir
Hello! For those of you who don't know me, I go by Ianir-srw in game. I've been playing GSF for just over a year now, and I feel I am now able to contribute a little to the discussion of ship builds. I also started recording and posting videos of some matches. Ship Builds (other members of SRW have contributed as well): https://shadowlandsreconnaissancewing.enjin.com/forum/m/34025565/viewforum/8801272 My Youtube Channel (for the most part, I'll try to limit this to recordings worth watching): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLopDhpUlH-D0ZN6pnIIkYg Finally, SRW is recruiting pilots of all skill levels, and we're willing to help you learn the ropes. If you're interested in joining, fill out an application on our website under "recruitment".
LordFell
Good quality recordings and it's nice to see recent matches recorded from my primary server. Uhm.... If my eyes didn't deceive me, you were moving while in a gunship scope. That's something I didn't know that we could do, and I don't know how to do it myself. So... how do you creep in a gunship??? Danalon
You can also zoom with your mouse wheel for increased field of view and easier targeting.
DakhathKilrathi
You can also zoom with your mouse wheel for increased field of view and easier targeting. Not only can you, but you should almost all of the time. The only time I would zoom in is if a lot of stationary or slow targets are close to each other and I want to be sure I get the right one. That doesn't happen much.
Ianir
Yes, I agree. The only time I will choose not to zoom out is if I'm already centered on my target and it doesn't matter (and even then, it doesn't hurt to zoom out). Otherwise, it always makes sense to zoom out. The annoying thing is that you always have to *actively* scroll down to zoom out, *every* time you enter scoped mode. This eventually becomes reflexive, so it's not a big deal, but I wish the default was to be already zoomed out.
LordFell
I knew all about scrolling to zoom. And it would be nice if max zoom was default.
Flusssaeure
Is there any use for strafing outside gunships? Considering the name it sounds like a movement mode that you should use during firing, which could have been something like increased turn speed to help to stay on target still outside of gunshiphide and seek there didn't seem to be any use of it. Strafing outside of gunship is a mystery like the V button, where the ship starts to do a slow motion barrel roll for no noticeable purpose. Most GSF guides doesn't even mentoin the V button. Greezt
Strafing is useful on any ship. It allows you to put an object between you and an enemy ship more easily, it helps in centering a target without taking your reticle off of them, and it helps in circumventing objects (nodes for example). There are some other uses too, but it's good to use for these reasons alone.

Yes. Strafing can help any ship slide out of los. It’s slow, but doesn’t use any engine power. Also, I frequently strafe while trying to dislodge a well-embedded tick bomber. Sometimes when they’re really lodged underneath a sat, and you’re having trouble targeting them - it helps to get close, and then strafe into firing position. Of course, this is a lot easier if the bomber doesn’t have buddies nearby trying to kill you.
OscarDivine
I would love to see a regular streaming presence again. I would be it but I have been too fractured in my play hours and only would be streaming for an hour a day tops.
Ianir
I'm not sure about actively streaming, but I'll definitely be recording and posting what seems worthwhile. Also, if anyone has any particular ships/builds they'd like me to experiment with, I'd be happy to toy around with them and post the recording(s). You can make requests here or on Discord.
