Or look at it his way: we've just won an arena WZ and I was the one with most medals. I got 662 command points. You need 2920 to cap this lvl. 2920/662=4.4 WZs. Threre's a curve there, I know, but for simplicity's sake, let's take 28x4.4/2, which is 61.6. Imagine you would run 61 WZs in 3.X or 4.X swtor and you would not have a single set piece yet. Do you get it? 61 WZs and holy nada set pieces? Good, welcome to KOTET.

*sigh* Dude, you're not really paying attention.

I strongly advise you to find out about "flairs". Check your character sheet, click on the titles tab on the upper left... and behold the optional "flair" dropdown which holds your "legendary" flair.

Sorry, friend, but instead of jumping to conclusions you should have read the patch notes.

You're late to the funeral, you know that, right? Reread my wording of the issue, check the first reply to my comment and see what I replied in return. But yeah, go and preach about attention...

you know... you are not doing yourself any favors, acting like a jerk.

guess what. I'm a clicker. I'm also very vocal about how HORRIBLE this new system is, and how much it sucks that they lied about more ops. stop. making. shallow. assumptions.

to OP. damn. you don't play around.....

Ya... sigh.. your more than right really the more I think about it the more I'm coming to terms with how this xpac is just bringing out the worst in me. Sorry dude. Time for me to take a seat and just grab some popcorn and watch I think.

Alas, I found a loophole. Crate no. 30 contained only a green-mods piece that I disintegrated and thus 2 toons should be sacrificed. However, I did claim a purple chestpiece recipe from the crate for crafting purposes (my main would have no use for the item but if any tank alts survive the purge, they might), so it doesn’t seem right to claim the crate was completely useless. I will therefore heed my own maxim “when at a loss, take a step aside and play King Solomon” and I will make of mass offering of DvL lowbies from Harbinger.

Sacrifice #7: a mass offering

Tri’keri, lvl 20 commando, Harbringer

Triarra, lvl 18 scoundrel, Harbringer

Ra-h, lvl 25 operative, Harbringer

Sasharra, lvl 42 sage, Harbringer

Insultana, lvl 45 juggernaut, Harbringer

All these toons were created during the double XP/DvL event and they had an immediate purpose to fulfill at that time. Their long-term prospect, however, was not predetermined and majority of them would have been left to rust. That being said, the lvl 42 sage was intended to be the server’s artificer and the lvl 45 juggernaut the server’s cybertech. Had gearing in 5.0 remained the same as it was in the 4.X cycle, Insultana had a good chance to become my no. 2 imp toon on the server.

Crate no. 31 contained an unusable blue implant, one sacrifice required.

Sacrifice #8

Asha Rah, lvl 67 sorceress, Shadowlands

In the 4.X cycle, I developed a soft spot for sorcs. True, I was never particularly good at playing them and they were my worst PvP chars, but I loved the play style and especially their universality. They were all slender Togruta with deep red skin that went well with the inquisitor garbs they got on Korriban (the best starter planet armor in the game, imo). They also got their own trademark CM saber (the Unconquered Defender’s Lightsaber) and speeder (Joko TZ-2). I loved the looks and it was fun playing them.

Asha was my main new toon on Shadowlands and the first to join a new guild there to be able to participate in conquests (my old Jung Ma guild that transferred to Shadowlands was pretty much completely dead by that time). She was the cornerstone of my new legacy, she’s got almost all the legacy perks unlocked, as well as all the inventory modules and an extra cargo bay, and she was the legacy’s artificer (now the second core crafter on Shadowlands that has been sacrificed). In other words, she was the kind of toon I would never have deleted if it were not for the 5.0 curse.

I took Asha and Khem for a last heroics run to Korriban and Tatooine. And then it dawned on me: I shall never rain lightning in this game again!:(

Asha by the way retires as my most accomplished GSF pilot (in a sense), with the average kill per game at 7.0 and kill/death ration 21.00. Yes, she only played 3 matches, but it means she achieved those numbers in a stock ship with absolutely no upgrades, and as an imperial ace on a server where the GSF is dominated by the pub side. Moreover, one of the matches was a loss ... I really wonder how she did it!:D

Special thanks to <The Fallen Ones> for having me. I wish donating 1M to the guild bank these days felt more as a tangible TY than just a tiny tear dropped into a sea of credits.

This is such a sad thread but it seems you have reached that place in the game where you have absolutely no hope left.

Before you cast the remaining members of your dynasty into the void, please wait and see what Thursday's live stream reveals. Perhaps there will be a reason to go on living.

Edit: I watched the stream. Carry on.

As for your comment on how you select them, I would have gone with "Lottery" (AKA Murder Box) because you're playing the lottery with Galactic Command, PLUS it's like the short story called, "The Lottery" where once a year a name is drawn out of a box and everyone in the village stones the person to death.

You know what Ang, you are right, I will implement the murder box idea. I'll write down how many chars I still have, I will calculate how many crates I can open before they all die (based on the numbers so far), and then I will draw in which order those chars should face their destiny. Thus if I finally get a set piece, those at the bottom of the list would still have a chance to survive, if I keep getting greens, they shall all perish.:rak_03:

This is so sad. Thank you for sharing the stories of your characters when you delete them, they're beautiful.

I'm at a place now where I only play my Sorcerer, because all I care to do is decorate my Kaas and Tatooine Strongholds and play the occasional Operation. I remember two years ago, I enjoyed this game so much that I finished all of the class stories and done the Inquisitor story four times (I love it). Now the game is way too easy and it's just not enjoyable to do anything that doesn't require an Operations group (at least that's kind of challenging and rewarding). I long for the moments when I needed help to do something on a planet, and in turn helping others when my level increased.

Sigh. This is reminding me of Star Wars Galaxies. However I eventually accepted and enjoyed the New Game Experience, but so many others left the game. Sadly I cannot say that I will accept Knights of the Eternal Empire/game update 5.0.

Edit: You should take a front-facing screenshot of your character before they become one with the Force, and then share them with us. :)

Your Murder Box, your show (obviously).

I'd keep the randomness and just draw the names out of the box when you open a Command Crate while still using your failsafes (If blue then this, if green then that). But that's me and how I do my Murder Box (with Sims who are less than an hour old, so I have no attachment to them). Do yours however you want. The message you're sending here is still the same :)

Man, either that or a video montage of the pictures set to Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares to You."

lmao that would be epic.. Depressing as hell yes... however what a fitting send off that would be to honor those toons that paid the ultimate price do to RNG :(

Yeah, that makes sense. If the order in which the toons were to be sacrificed was known in advance, the only thrill remaining would be waiting for the crates' roll. So let's double the suspense.;)

The list of remaining possible sacrifices:

1. Lvl 67 shadow, THE founder (my first toon ever), The Shadowlands

2. Lvl 66 merc, a founder (one of the original 8 toons that constituted the legacy), The Shadowlands

3. Lvl 65 op, my one and only KotFE toon on The Shadowlands, with maxed alliance specialists influence

4. Lvl 64 jugg, a founder, The Shadowlands

5. Lvl 62 guardian, a founder, The Shadowlands

6. Lvl 50 shadow, a DvL character that might still have its use, The Shadowlands

7. A mass offering of 4 DvL toons I will not miss, The Shadowlands

8. A mass offering of my colony on The Ebon Hawk

9. Lvl 50 powertech, a name-holder on The Harbinger

10. Lvl 65 guardian, my one and only KotFE toon on The Harbinger

11. Lvl 61 op, a founder, Jung Ma

12. Lvl 61 scoundrel, a founder, Jung Ma

13. Lvl 54 slinger, Jung Ma

The toons are listed by servers and in the descending order of their lvl; the assigned number will be their ID for the random generator draw. (If the generator draws a number that has already been drawn, the process is of course repeated until an eligible no. is drawn.)

Based on the results yielded by the 11 crates I have opened in my mini game so far (11 crates, 8 sacrifices), it takes 1.375 crates per a sacrifice; 13 eligible sacrifices thus require 17.875 crates. (I know I am working with an extremely small sample for a statistical prediction, but that’s the numbers I have and my time is limited – 13 or so days until my sub runs out.) I will therefore get 18 additional cxp crates (man, this is turning into a genuine grind!) and the fate of the my legacy shall be revealed.

For a toon to survive, it has to be lucky twice. First, I must finally get a set bonus piece or they will all die. Second, even if that condition is met, a possible survivor must be lucky enough and not have his/her number drawn early...

Obviously, there’s no lvl 70 toon in the list of the 13 offerings. That’s because the lvl 70 assassin (fitting, eh?) levels the cxp. That toon has an exact mirror on The Harbinger (the same nick, the same gear, the same looks and also lvl 70), but with The Harbringer rollbacks, it has not been able to contribute to the minigame yet. These two toons have a good chance to survive the Russian roulette I've been playing here, however should I be extremely unlucky and get so many green stuff crates that the 13 offerings would not be enough, these two assassins would be sacrificed as well.

Now as for the rules, they remain the same, but they need a bit of a clarification to avoid possible loopholes. I start with the mitigating rules this time:

1. A crate containing a set-bonus item still grants 4 free rolls.

2. A crate containing a usable purple piece still grants 2 free rolls. I still need a purple earpiece and one implant. Should a crate contain a piece with alacrity on it, I shall accept only one such item (the second crate with an alacrity piece in it would require 1 sacrifice, instead of grating 2 free rolls). Should I get a purple alacrity piece and then an adept piece for the same slot later on, that adept (crit) piece would still grant 2 free rolls. A moddable purple mainhand or offhand would also grant 2 free rolls, an unmoddable purple mainhand would require 1 sacrifice (unusable by definition, as there is no weapon slot in the appearance designer), an unmoddable purple off-hand would grant free rolls only if not an alacrity piece, otherwise 1 sacrifice would be required. Purple crafting schematics do not count as gear in this minigame and the value of the crate will be decided based on what else it contains.

3. A blue-mods piece still grants 1 free roll even though it’s now useless for me (save for some crit enhancements), but I cannot change this rule now, it would affect the minigame too much. As for unmoddable blue gear, only an adept implant or usable relic (if there are such) would grant 1 free roll, otherwise 2 sacrifices will be required.

4. Finally, a crate containing green gear only (of any kind) will still require 2 sacrifices.

(1) Hasn’t happened yet, (4) happened repeatedly. Should (4) happen seven times in a row, the game is practically over...

The first two crates of the endgame. Here goes nothing:

Crate 1/18 ... a blue-mods piece (with crit in it, on top of it) -- the next roll is sacrifice free!;)

Crate 2/18 ... another blue-mods piece (this time with accuracy, though) -- the next roll is again free of sacrifice!:D

Crate 3/18 ... a useless blue item, two sacrifices are required.

Roll 1: 4, which is ... a founder:(

Roll 2: 12, which is ... another founder!:(

Well, there go two more untouchables. I guess a trip to the local liquor store is in order. I shall have their obituaries ready by the evening.

click? You mean like click the abilities on the screen? Heck no. I've key bindings and a programmable mouse. Love my razer but don't use it to click abilities. That'd be way too slow. Who does that?

Devs like the ones on the stream today...

Apologies for the delay, after yesterday’s livestream I was a bit ... indisposed.:rak_frown: Here’s another crate:

Crate 4/18 ... a useless blue item, two sacrifices are required.

Roll 3: 7, which is ... a mass offering of DvL toons on The Shadowlands

Roll 4: 13, which is ... a Twi’lek slinger on Jung Ma

So 4 crates, 4 sacrifices – at this rate we won’t even need 18 extra lvls of CXP...

The obituaries for the last four sacrifices are coming up in a few minutes (though one of them will be only an announcement of an announcement, see below). Also, please note that I will be gone for the weekend and won’t have an access to the Internet until Sunday evening. Thus no more blood shall be spilled this week.;)

Here are the promised obituaries:

Sacrifice #9

The Sith Lord in question deserves a proper good bye and I will need a bit longer to do it right. His delete is irreversible, but the execution has been postponed till the beginning of the next week.

Sacrifice# 10

Thagron, lvl 61 scoundrel, Jung Ma

My fourth or fifth toon in the game, if I remember it correctly, and one of the founders of my legacy. I recall I had a hard time finding some adequate gear for him, that is, gear that would complement his personality. At a certain point, I got him the Casual Vandal set, which looked ok, but since my scoundrel was body type 2, he appeared to be a bit too scrawny in it. It was not until very late in the game that I discovered that he would look just perfect in one of the companion sets we got on Yavin IV: the Devoted Allies Bulwark set. I know it was meant for a completely different class but man, did that trench coat go well with the RD-06B Eliminator Headgear! Now this is both the beauty of and the sad thing about quest reward gear: when it’s no longer in the game, the looks are unique and cannot be recreated... Oh well, RIP Thagron in your lovely trench coat with a brim of your Stetson forever shading the piercing eyes of yours!

Speaking of looks: do you remember the times when we had to gear our companions? I was always so sad to see their original gear go, so for Akaavi (the scoundrel’s wife), I got the Mandalorian Hunter set just so that she would still look like a cool mando. (Risha – and no, unlike some, I didn’t try to date both my female companions – would wear the Stylish Dress set [with Mountain Explorer Leggings, I think].) Yep, quite a few of my toons would first deck out their companion(s) in CM gear while they themselves would still be running in quest rewards armor.:-))

Sacrifice #11: a mass offering

A hecatomb of 4 DvL toons that I wanted to lvl to 50 for a cheevo (to get all the classes to 50 with DvL chars). Some of them were never meant seriously (Harry Potter’s fans will chuckle at the lvl 50 body type 4 pureblood Juggernaut named Ickle Diddykins), but one of them had a chance to become a part of my legacy on the server (Arraggor, lvl 50 Vanguard), as I didn’t have any other troopers on The Shadowlands. I’ll never forget staying up till 5 am on the last day of the DvL event, frantically trying to finish levelling the last three toons to 50 – only to discover that BW was to delete all the cheevos in just 5 hours because ... they thought it was “exciting”, I guess. Whatever happens with the cheevos in January, these toons won’t be sticking around to see it.

Sacrifice #12

Yibane, lvl 54 slinger, Jung Ma

My first slinger and a female Twi’lek on top of it.:D Yes, she resembles Vette a bit, but only because she’s also body type 1 and has sharp facial features. In character, they are different. Yib was, I believe, my 12th toon in the game and she was the one hit worst by the demise of Jung Ma, caused by the first 90CC transfer window that lasted for a few months and pretty much killed the server. She had all of a sudden no WZs to run and was left to wait in vain for the Godot of SWTOR, which is the long overdue server merge. GG BW, when you get back to discussing the issue in January, Yib will no longer give a damn.
