Keypek
I still think they are slowly giving players HK parts as rewards until you can make a toon look completely like HK and then when their "Play as HK" special chapter happens they'll simply tell everyone to put all your exclusive HK armor on so you look like him and play the chapter with your armor skin and class abilities you already have. BorisKarloffe
This again? KotFE didn't cost anything over the cost of a subscription - I've got everything I paid for with my monthly sub, and they added KotFE on top of that. It's a least "free with subscription," which is a perfectly cromulent use of the language. KotFE is the "new" game content/xpac for SWTOR. BW dropped developing everything else in favor of it. Don't know why anyone would think of it as somehow being apart from the game. If it were a new OP/WZ/Daily area, the same would apply, but they didn't develop any of those. It wasn't released all at once as an xpac because the new model they were trying out was monthly releases to KEEP SUBS LONGER. There's the price tag right there. "Free with subscription" is a marketing tagline. Just because you fell for it doesn't mean everyone else did.
Vember
I sub to WoW as well as SWTOR. Every month I get nothing from WoW. Every month I do get something from BioWare, and in a months time, my reward for having been subbed so far this year is an exclusive chapter, sounds worth it to me. My reward from Blizzard in a months time, is to have to fork out another 50 dollars for yet another half assed expansion pack. KotFE was free. I guess I'm just cut from a different cloth than most gamers, whining like little girl doesn't appeal to me, if after the HK chapter is released BioWare decides to not do anything until season 2 comes out, I'm gone til then, I won't whine or cry about, I'll just walk away. Like I did with WoW, from last summer til roughly a month ago when I picked up a time card for pre expansion gold building. Good point here. I also sub to other games as well as SWTOR, and what I get from those games is either non existent or pales in comparison (monthly currency grants, mostly). ConradLionhart
They talked about a special chapter just for veterans. But if some veterans are so unhappy about it, maybe they could tell the devs the kind of rewards they would want. cool-dude
Rewards? What are you talking about? Are you... wait, you mean that HK garbage that no one wants that's been cluttering my mailbox? I thought that was a punishment. The illusion of rewards is more important than the rewards themselves. That's why store prices are 1.99 instead of 2.00. It's because studies have shown that sales increase when you price things that way. Though different, the same tactic is being employed with the rewards deal. IanArgent
The HK stuff would of been cool, had they come out with an HK inspired armor piece for each class like they did with the weapons. And when I say inspred, I don't mean cut/paste pieces of HK himself. The HK "helmet" was pretty uninspiring. The weapons and jetpack have been better, at least as far as being inspired by but not directly cloned. (Though I personally think the weapons are not my own cuppa)
Damask_Rose
I enjoy getting presents in my mailbox. Some I like far more than others. I am a little worried about the state of my mailbox on new alts if we keep getting rewards monthly. I do wonder if Bioware would get less blowback if they tied each reward to length of subscription instead. That way people can eventually get their Hutt holo trainer, jaws & Nico. I expect people would just complain about how long it would take to get the rewards they want

I suspect there's probably a reason for that. (Might be the "wisdom" of herds, admittedly).

Nefla
I haven't been a fan of the HK stuff or the mounts, I wish they would do a variety of things instead of having one long running theme that people may or may not like (HK). That being said, I don't subscribe to get rewards, I do it because I love this game, I want to support it, and have always been a sub since before F2P existed. De gustibus non disputandum - I'm using the duster a couple of places, but have yet to find a use for the HK helm. If the wearer didn't have a cases of Dudley-Do-Right chin when wearing, I might put it on top of one or another set of cybernetic armor and add another combat droid to my ever-growing army of combat droids. I'm surprised they didn't complete the set, myself

I have the Nico Duster on a few alts (not female, makes the butt look weird for each build) as wearable. Mostly I just mail it around to my Cybertechs for mod disassembly. Same with the Nico blasters.

Rather more casual games, to be honest - but, yes, rewards based on login days. There aren't enough subscriber MMOs to get a good idea of business models from any more. And, note, subs get bonus currency for subbing; it's not a separate loyalty currency, though. (CoH, CoV is no more, recall)
Quraswren
They need to have some better player retention mechanics going on than what their doing I know that. There isn't enough new in game. It's over reliance on old is boring and not worth the time or money. Thank goodness it's a SW game or it would have died long ago. Being SW it's its staying power because it sure isn't the content there producing. One 40 min or so story doesn't cut it really and the subscriber rewards are currently pretty mediocre. They have got to step it up and the LS/DS event wasn't it. Thats going to leave a bad taste in the mouth of many gamers as we move into months of nothing new and no reassurances of this reliance on really old getting changed. Assault Cannon would be nice, as would a standard Blaster Rifle (seriously, Trooper is the only class that can't use any of the HK weapons without giving it all to a companion). And then throw in a HK staff weapon. Would have been nice if those were BtL instead of BoP.

And then throw in a HK staff weapon. Would have been nice if those were BtL instead of BoP. I prefer BoP so they go to collections. I'm currently annoyed that the Republic Experimental Flight Suit is BoL, because I want to kit out my entire Trooper's squad with identical gear, in this case including the Havoc specialist chest, legs, and belt, the REx suit helmet (a particular favorite of mine, I think almost every one of my characters uses it on themselves or a comp), and bits and bobs from elsewhere, and I don't want to cycle a character slot just to get enough. Turns out, only two trooper comps have head slots anyway, and I had deleted a character some time ago and kept their flight suit sets, so I have just enough helmets to equip my trooper, Jorgan, and Elara, after all. (Stamp to outfit designer, give the one my new char got to Jorgan, give the spare to Elara). But still...
fresnodog
What I want to know is, of the people who have participated in this long-term, how do you feel about it? I was subbed, so I got the rewards, but I didn't really sub because of the rewards. Some are useful, some are not. I like the Kakkran Daggerstar quite a bit. I think items with a theme built around a specific character, like the HK55 stuff, are less useful to me than other rewards. The number of my characters for whom I think it would be appropriate to wear a helmet shaped like an assassin droid's head is always going to be small. Most of the sub reward weapons up to this point have also favored classes that can use guns. Edited July 1, 2016 by fresnodog

BrotherJohn
the root of the issue is that they believe that the digital trinkets that they spammed for the month for subbing is something that they are doing out of the goodness of their hearts. when in fact its really just an attempt to keep you subbed with you guessed it right digital nothingness. Lets be straight here it was never about long term players being rewarded and only a means to try to keep earning your monthly sub. now for the rewards they are just utter rubbish. One HK item was nice but to continuously dump HK item after HK item thinking it was unique, fun, and something that players actually wanted well it just shows to how little they know and or care about the paying subs. What they could have given, hell how about a package of 100 purple companion gifts. how about a package of a dozen dyes for the digital crap they push on the CM, how about a speeder that goes 150 percent speed. the list can be long and can be good but we are given BS cause they think we like BS. the real issue i have is how they spoke to us on the dev stream. it was we are at the top and you stupid folk should just eat what we give you and love it. if you say you dont well you are just our idiots, hey do you want another HK item how about HK boots this time.
