Someone please tell me the 127.0.0.1.<portnumber> is some tunneling/port-forwarding they are doing, otherwise I'll be over here slamming my head against the keyboard...

It's not. It's trying to go to your own computer to get the download file. Having a port number at the end doesn't change the fact that it's trying to go to your computer.

Until they fix it on their side to point to an actual address that has the content, it's going to fail.

Already trying to install the patch for over an hour. First it didn't do anything (got 308 error after opening launcher), now I get until 25% of installing the main asset 236. Get repair option ... use it ... get error 308 ...

Playing the game since beta ... This might be the straw which makes me cancel my sub ... TY BW for making the decision for me. Do you even care about those paying for your paycheck? :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Restarting the launcher hasn't helped me yet. It won't start the initial patch download at all, so I can't even install it in pieces either like some people have tried. Edited May 3, 2016 by CloudCastle

It took me about 20 or so tries to finally get the update to start, now I am getting to 99% before it disconnects

Hey dudes.

I had the same error as you did... Though I managed to fix this issue by myself.
Here is what I did.

1. Navigate to your SWTOR Folder e.g (C:\Program Files\Star Wars - The Old Republic\Star Wars - The Old Republic)
2. Delete patch folder
3. Run FixLauncher as administrator
4. Press Windows + R and type cmd hit enter
5. Type i.) ipconfig /flushdns
ii.) ipconfig /release
iii.) ipconfig /renew
6. Go to swtor web download the game downloader
7. Run it and install it to your SWTOR Folder e.g (C:\Program Files\Star Wars - The Old Republic\Star Wars - The Old Republic)
8. Run launcher as administrator

EDIT:

OS: Win 7 SP1 (Swedish), if it's relevant.

EDIT2: I eventually managed to fully patch it by terminating the launcher everytime the error cropped up and relaunch it. Took quite a few tries but it worked. I ran a repair once it was done, just to be safe.

UPDATE: Got it working and updated by only closing the launcher and quitting the remaining launcher process in task manager every time it did nothing and gave me error 308 and every time it stalled during the update process and gave me error 308. 95% of the time the launcher would do nothing for a few minutes and then spit out error code 308. It took me about 50 times seriously of quitting the launcher and reopening it to finish the update successfully. I would post my final log for you bioware, buts its 230KB, too large for the forums.

The only way I fixed my problem with the 308 message was by opening launcher, starting the patch until I got the error message, going into Task Manager, under Processes closing the launcher.exe file. Reopen game, start pack, get message, close launcher.exe until it finally finished.

I don't normally complain much on here, but this is RIDICULOUS, BioWare. How come adding 20 minutes or so of new content breaks your game every single month? "Early Access" on new chapters is more like "Please beta test our code for us".

What's new with Bio ware? they screwed up the patch in chapter 11 and 12 looks like they are trying for another one.

Thanks for all those who gave me advice earlier! I called customer support and got a very helpful British fellow named Colin. He got the lanucher fixed.

I finally began the download after three full launches and full exits using task manager. It took longer to repair the launcher than begin the download.

I spent two hours dicking around with the game and had to return to work. I dread getting home and seeing 308 again.

At least we can all be pissed off together.

My general addiction to the game has been ebbing since I got readdicted last July (sub since July 2012, 12 months of hardcore play then just occasional logging for new cartel packs and expansions). The lack of new, dynamic content and too few people for hm ops on my server.

If that worked for you, that's a good thing. But it is not working for all of us. And it won't fix their using an IP address of 127.0.0.1 for the download. This is not completely a client issue.

My general addiction to the game has been ebbing since I got readdicted last July (sub since July 2012, 12 months of hardcore play then just occasional logging for new cartel packs and expansions). The lack of new, dynamic content and too few people for hm ops on my server.

Not quite sure what 'new, dynamic content' means but I'm STILL addicted to this game - probably always will be.

This worked for me! ReaverSK messaged me and walked me through on how to fix it. I can now log in and it's downloading now. Thanks a bunch for your help!!!

Hey dudes.

I had the same error as you did... Though I managed to fix this issue by myself.
Here is what I did.

1. Navigate to your SWTOR Folder e.g (C:\Program Files\Star Wars - The Old Republic\Star Wars - The Old Republic)
2. Delete patch folder
3. Run FixLauncher as administrator
4. Press Windows + R and type cmd hit enter
5. Type i.) ipconfig /flushdns
ii.) ipconfig /release
iii.) ipconfig /renew
6. Go to swtor web download the game downloader
7. Run it and install it to your SWTOR Folder e.g (C:\Program Files\Star Wars - The Old Republic\Star Wars - The Old Republic)
8. Run launcher as administrator

If that worked for you, that's a good thing. But it is not working for all of us. And it won't fix their using an IP address of 127.0.0.1 for the download. This is not completely a client issue.

Well, after about 15 log in tries, I finally started to patch. Was going for at least 20 mins. Then got the 308 error again.

Restarted and ... GOT IT AGAIN!

Having the same issue, error 308, I have windows 7 currently. Fixes suggested won't work. This sucks. Can't they ever do something without f*cking stuff up?
