Did they not say there would be a terminal to access old companions once you start FE story?

This is not, and will not, be the case. Otherwise the entire story would be broken. The old planets are now a part of the KotFE story. Therefore if you unlock companions you were not meant to have access to, then it would break the parts of KotFE where you visit the classic planets.

Only certain companions can be earned back. They are all listed here: http://dulfy.net/2015/10/21/swtor-alliance-specialists-and-companion-recruitment-guide/

  • 2V-R8 - from the Cantina on Odessen
  • C2-N2 - Also in the cantina
  • Yuun - To Find A Findsman quest.
  • Major Pierce/M1-4X - you have to PvP for these
  • Xalek - A quick quest on Ilum
  • Talos Drellik - quick quest on Hoth
  • Nico Okarr - Quick quest on Zakuul. NOTE: You can get Nico Okarr instantly in the mail by using the Encrypted Holocommunicator but this is something you do not want to do as doing so prevent you from getting a hidden achievement. Too bad I unlocked him right off the bat on my free 60 LOL.
  • Qyzen - You have to kill World Bosses for this guy I believe. There's supposedly other things you can kill, but these are apparently supposed to be as tough as the bosses. I don;t know for sure though.
  • Dr.Lokin - Acquired four companions from the alert system AND participate in a Rakghoul event after doing so.

Note: You HAVE to unlock Yuun though the To Find A Findsman quest before you can get anyone else. Also, if a companion is not on the above list, kiss that companion goodbye once you unlock KotFE on your character.

I am not defending BW here. I hate this, too. i want my old romances back ... but ... this is the final design and has been verified.

It has not been verified. They stated several times that they would not take away the work we've done in the past; e.g. accessing old companions. Having them won't be official to the story, but you can run around with them. The terminal is just broken.

I really hope this is a troll post and not a legit thing. Not one of these is a love interest, not to mention I don't think I even like anyone of these guys...

You are correct but not in method. No, they will not take away the AFFECTION you earned for that companion. IF, and that is a big IF, in the future you get your desired companion back via a quest or something in a future chapter, then you will get that companion back at the affection level you had the companion at. The ONLY thing they promised was affection would not get torn out. They never said you'd have access to all companions right from launch.

I, too, took that information as "Oh, awesome, so we can summon old companions in old areas!" however this has proven to be both of our, and other people's, interpretations of information and not really what was intended.

If none of the companions I listed above are ones you want, you will have to wait until 2016 to see what the next chapter brings.

I honestly wish I was joking. I am displeased also. i am not happy about losing all my romanced companions the moment I trigger KotFE, but I checked Dulfy, and I read the available information. This is how it is.

The fun part is, when they DO unlock a companion that might interest you, do not be surprised if you have to kill world bosses, do PvP, take part in events, reputation grind or any number of other things to get that companion back. It's BW's way of driving players back to do content that otherwise no one at all is interested in any more since it was old stuff.

BW said they wanted to make old content relevant again - well now we have an answer as to how.

Unacceptable bug...

I guess this means they couldn't afford the voice actors for any of the characters I liked (and most others liked).

I am almost slightly annoyed that I can not put a custom outfit on ANY of the KOTFE companions. Due to their models they are locked into a single outfit. The only way to customize them will be CM stuff. LAME!

AGREED! I mean I understand Marr, and HK - but .. Lana? Can;t put clothes on Lana even after getting her as a companion AND romancing her? C'mon! That's just silly.

According to this post from Musco, they actually DID say we would still have access to our old companions outside of KOTFE story areas.

I do not mind if we get our companions back now or in stages as the story progress, but my concern is about the cosmetic gear that is on my companions. Atleast one companion, the one I use the most, is geared with a cosmetic set. So would they retain their gear when they return? Or should I start removing them before starting KoTFE? Yeah that post had me excited, too. Unfortunately it looks like that changed completely, and I do not think it is Eric's fault for the miscommunication.

what is the terminal called

and where on the planet is it located?

I have asked that a few times, but no one has any answer for it. Until something official comes out from BW, I am considering all mentions of this "terminal" to be the equivalence of people trolling. It's about the same level as telling someone that ALT+F4 will get your companions back - which, by the way, I had to chuckle because someone actually fell for that today and was going off in chat about it. LOL

If I can't access my old companions then I've had enough of this game and Bioware. I have nothing against the new companions but they are not the one's I want to spend time with questing.

I would love to know who in the development team came up with this idea as he/she has a lot to answer for.

Okay, if this is the case, then there is ZERO incentive for me to play more alts in the KotFE storyline, especially my crafters. I can just as easily up the influence of my current companions to 250k, and do operations and get gear. I can get to level 65 doing old missions that now provide great XP.

One of the biggest concerns voiced when the expac was announced was from people worried they would lose their old companions, with the various romances, etc.

To block access to "old companions" - after publicly stating they would not - would be a massive error on BioWare's part.

I do hope they fix this, my Pierce is wearing my makeb empire trooper set.

Also, I have no wish to add more monsters to my companions list, the monsters (Boomark/Khem/Xalek,Qyzen/Yuun are exactly the companions i wouldn't mind letting go. So I really hope I can get my apprentice back and the rest of the crew.

And my Nico is gone since I started the story, now on chapter 8 and no sign of him.
