At this point, I feel it's entirely possible that they don't even realize just how badly they borked the drop rate on everything. As though even they didn't intend to nerf it this badly, but decimals are tricksy and false. And because nobody at the office bothered to test the machine post-patch, they're left shaking their heads at how unreasonable we all are.

It's sad that I can envision this scenario as even remotely feasible. Sigh.

This is exactly what happened, the certs are exactly where they want them now and wont be returning.

The issue is for some, I say some loosely as the mob mentality has taken over.. Is that the post from Eric didn't relay that, so it was left to people to make their own minds up, and boy they did, they all thought the certs should drop from the sky.

Does he really think that we're not going to notice those? Does he think that if they ignore it, we won't still be mad about it?
No, they think that if they ignore it, we'll eventually forget about it and the problem will have worked itself out.

By then, something else will have come along to spark community outrage and the slot machine will be all but forgotten outside of the occasional snarky remark from someone.

They already did.

If people don't like it, that's another matter altogether.

No they didn't. They talked about Jawa Junk, not other Jawa Scraps or Certificates. They're blatantly pretending they don't know what people are talking abotu and think we didn't "notice".

You know what's funny? After all this, people are still trying to sell the slots for over a million creds on GTN.
I know, right?

After this, I was hoping that the prices would fall so I could pick some up as decorations for my casino.

They'd look good scattered among all the non-working slot machines in there.

I suspect they were using the term "jawa junk" as the generic term for all scrap rather than specifically the purples.

Certificates, on the other hand, are a different matter altogether.

Personally, I think with the altered fail rate and increased token cost, certificates would have been fine where they were.

Nobody other than pure elitists were mad about certificates. And only them because they're A-holes and want to be the only ones to have nice things.

Just want to point out that JJ 'was' dropping too much. No one is disputing that.

The anger comes from the fact that rather than just fix that particular aspect of the Slot Machine, they changed the loss rate from 25% to 40%, nerfed the other Scavenging Scrap that wasn't JJ, and severely nerfed the drop rate of Cartel Certs.

All of that was not only not mentioned in the patch notes, they weren't even hinted at, and are now steadfastly ignored by the Developers and Community reps. They're outright refusing to comment on those changes.

THAT is what has the community in an uproar. Not the JJ nerf. That was needed and detailed beforehand. The rest hit us out of nowhere and isn't even being acknowledged.

As the quote in his sig says, this is correct, Infernixx nailed it. Don't care about the jawa junk nerf, needed nerfing. What I'm unhappy about is the stealth nuke from orbit to everything and the cartoonish "What? There's no problem here -waves hand like Ben Kenobi- attitude they are projecting by pretending they didn't do all the extra stuff and hope we'll just shut up."

I will say only this in response to Mr. Musco's BS marketing dept. spin response...

If your company looked at the data and realized the impact of the slot machine AFTER selling it, then you turn around and nerf the ever living bejesus out of the item BECAUSE YOU FAILED TO DO THE ANALYTICS WORK AHEAD OF TIME...don't you think your player base is entitled to something now? Your own admission is you guys didn't see the impact and released the item anyway. It causes impact so you then turn around and basically punish anyone who got one of the slots (by whatever method they procured it). Your "Oops, our bad." didn't come with a "and here's how we're going to make things right since a whole lot of you feel cheated after the fact."

Wow.

I mean...on one hand, you're a big business, and so I kind of expect you to react coldly....but wow. Y'all are kinda just a sack of ***** now, ain't ya?

So we looked at the data , we spent a lot of time looking at it, and the players were 150 thousand percent correct, in that the effects of getting the java scraps at that high of a drop rate was very impactful to not only the economy, but also, as I said in my post, we found that players were simply neglecting crew skills

in that one week of data where the hype was strong ?

What a way to run a business...

First class all the way...

.

Having a 60% win rate on a slot machine is really high......

just wondering, when someone posts about how we all should drop it/move on/should have known/whatever. Does anyone else just assume these trolls are the same people who threw a fit because they had cornered the market on mats, "cool" Rep items, and still have $100s of real dollars tied up in old cartel packs they hope to rape us on?

It doesn't matter who the people are. The crafting market should never be dominated by a Cartel Item, thats running periously close to p2w, particularly once you consider the fact that the machine made all other forms of mat collecting obsolete.

I think most reasonable people people realize the drop rate was too high. I think, however, most reasonable people also feel the nerf was wildly excessive, ESPECIALLY with respect to certificate drops.

Cert drops should NEVER have been reduced. That was a bone head move, compounding the bonehead move to release it in that state in the first place.

Had the drop rates been correct and reasonable or the scrap not present in the loot table IMO there never would have been an issue.

They simply made a bad situation worse, and have been doing that with many things for some time now. This is just one of many foolish mistakes and decision they have made over the past 6 months, and it seems for many this is the last straw.

If nothing else, they should have 'said something' before doing it. Something along the lines of:

"Hey guys, just wanted to give you advance notice here. The Cartel Market Certificates were never meant to drop that often, so we're reducing the drop rate to a more acceptable level. We hope you enjoyed your easily gained Certificates while they lasted!"

And then the nerf would have still stung, but at least we'd have had the courtesy of a notice before it went live.

As it stands now, we got the rug jerked out from underneath us after being reassured that while JJ was being changed, nothing else meaningful in the Slot Machine was being modified.

The patch notes regarding the Slot Machine change wasn't just incorrect, they were outright misleading and disingenuous.

And ignoring us after the fact isn't going to make things better.

If I had known they were looking at cert rates as well I would have likely held off on buying the machine for a while.

Yes and instead of adjusting the crit rates on crew skill missions, they added grade 11 materials to the Jawas and put in a Cartel Item that spit out lots of junk to trade for them! I bet it raised quite a bit of cash for BioWare.

no body has accused biowart of being smart.
