I was hoping for a fix in 2.9 but I guess you guys had other things to worry about. Now that strongholds is out, no time like the present to fix this annoying bug. I wouldn't really mind if they just changed it completely to the zoom out view. I just want some consistency here. Actually the scroll zoom-in-zoom-out they have set during character creation and play would be awesome. Scrolling isn't being used for anything else on that screen...
