What is the best way to protect DPS characters ?

I have two of them a Jedi and a warrior dips class

Well it is nice to have two lightsabers in hand. They are basically defenseless what is the best way to make there ARMOR stronger. ?

Also if a character is able to craft heavy armor and they give it to a DPS character can that dps character where the heavy armor ?

basically the only thing you can do is making sure you get the best gear for your level, learn to use your defensive cooldowns, and use a companion that suits your playstyle.

If you are a sentinel I would recommend either a well geared tanking comp, or a well geared healer.

And to your second question: no, sentinels are unable to equip heavy armor. If you try it will give an error message.

And if its adaptive armor (the stuff from the cartel market and reputation vendors) it will have the armour value of a medium armor piece.

Out of experience:

- sentinels and marauders wear medium armor only

- sentinels and marauders kill things faster instead (dead things don't do damage)

What you do:

- keep your own gear updated (look at the level of the mods/armor)

- practise killing stuff faster than it kills you (practice makes A LOT of difference in this game)

- indesctructible color crystals

Search the GTN for cheap (1 is enough, you can get more copies for your character and your companion from the collection window - bottom left in your inventory has the button) "indestr col cryst" that you can use with level 10 (they come from cartel packs). At level 10-20 those +40 endurance is HUGE as you'll end up with more HP than a same-level-elite. xD After that the 'hawkeye' ones with more power tend to be more rewarding. Remember to take them out of your weapon if you switch them (if not using oranges).

Start using a healing companion as soon as you get one (and not the ship droid, he's useless). For the Warrior, that's Malavai Quinn who joins you after your class quest on Balmorra (~lvl20). The reason you should use them is that they will heal most of the damage you receive and pull aggro from everything that you aren't damaging :p, causing you to live way longer.

One can also acquire Treek for this purpose if one is unwilling to wait for a story companion healer.

You don't need to use a healing companion. I've levelled all classes except Consular and the only healing companions I've really used were Mako, because BH gets her first, and Elara Dorne, because I liked her more than the other Trooper companions.

If you don't have or want to use a healing companion then use a tank companion. Press Ctrl+1 to tell your companion to attack before you initiate any attacks. If you are playing a Jedi Knight use T7 early on and Scourge later if you want a change. A Smuggler could use Corso or Bowdaar. And so on. More details on companion roles.

  • Be sure to regenerate health between fights!
  • Buy med packs and use them.
  • For harder fights like bosses use your Heroic Moment.
  • Kill order. (usually send your tank to fight the strongest + you kill from weak to strong)
  • Consider using Stims and Adrenals.

use a tanking companion. preferably one with a aoe taunt. at end game you can give a healer companion any healer gear you get to beef him up. healer companions really need to have above average gear.

because when ever you are fighting a group encounter every mob you havn't attacked will focus fire on the healer after his first heal. the healer will then start healing himself and not you. you will quickly find yourself force leaping back to him to kill mobs on him or in most cases rather running back as you started the encounter with the force leap which is still on cool down. if you are really unlucky you will be running around killing range mobs which are just standing there blasting your poor healer.

after a certain level in this game you will NOT be able to aoe the entire encounter to focus fire on you at the pull as the mobs are too spread out. also unless really well geared the healer wont keep you up when ever you do.

if you have treek then use her. she is above average in healing but the op said he didn't have her.

good luck and have fun.
