  1. use a tanking companion. preferably one with a aoe taunt. at end game you can give a healer companion any healer gear you get to beef him up. healer companions really need to have above average gear. because when ever you are fighting a group encounter every mob you havn't attacked will focus fire on the healer after his first heal. the healer will then start healing himself and not you. you will quickly find yourself force leaping back to him to kill mobs on him or in most cases rather running back as you started the encounter with the force leap which is still on cool down. if you are really unlucky you will be running around killing range mobs which are just standing there blasting your poor healer. after a certain level in this game you will NOT be able to aoe the entire encounter to focus fire on you at the pull as the mobs are too spread out. also unless really well geared the healer wont keep you up when ever you do. if you have treek then use her. she is above average in healing but the op said he didn't have her. good luck and have fun.
  2. i'll miss them both. I suppose it was done because of pvp
  3. there is little to nothing in replay value of these simplistic wow clone mmos for too many players now days. it has become a race to get the carrot at the end. there exists only the ends. the means( not space barring) is only in the ends way!
  4. I agree that placing you on ignore was rather "weird'. but all wow cloned mmos are now actually solo online games where social interaction is dumbed down to nothing. unless of course you count general chat potty mouthing social interaction. in these mmos one doesn't need to make friends for group content but rather queue up in a group finder. such mmos have created a genre which really don't have any social manners as they have had no opportunities to ever develop them. too many just go on their way by themselves and have a "how dare you ever ask me to group up" attitude. why do you think so many players now think a group finder is an essential mmo tool these days? one player asked for a option to auto group up with a option to turn it off. RIFT has this as it was primarily designed for the rift events that are always going on. however after once fighting a named to 10% and having a toon run up, join me only to now roll and win the drop, the option was promptly turned off. it has remained that way ever since. I don't see this situation changing any time soon.
  5. lack of control. once you sell the schematic you can not control how many it makes. so there is less monies to be made. they can get around this by also selling a rare component used to make it which is attainable via the cartel market only. I don't think players would like this too much though. so if done this way nothing is really solved.
  6. why would a game give great looking gear when it has a means to sell great looking gear for extra cash?
  7. those sets by far are the ugliest the game ever had. now a few people who never were forced to wear them want them back is just laughable. so much for new players' tastes in armor.
  8. sounds like pure laziness to me. kids now days. oh, GET OFF MY LAWN !.
  9. there is nothing "hardcore" about any mmo where you have a story mode where tactics are learned and then used for the next difficulty. there is nothing hardcore about a mmo where new content for raids and group has a "walk through" made before the content goes live on the servers. there is nothing hardcore when gear beyond beginner raiding gear after max level can be obtained from solo or group content. being ahead of the curve in achieving gear in mmos like this doesn't make you hardcore. it just makes you a little smarter and or more dedicated than the other monkeys. most of todays gamers don't know what HARDCORE is. they do know what it is like to be handed gear if they put in the time regardless of their skill. we can blame blizzard for this.
  10. well said. I pick quality over quantity every time. wow isn't a mmo I would ever use as an example of having a quality chat, especially on a pvp server. silence over the endless banter of the same chuck Norris jokes hours on end makes one just not use general chat but also turning it off completely. this games general isn't any better. because of this I have vent running for chatting with guildies. pushing one button talking sure beats typing any day. also the chat is much cleaner, informative and entertaining.
  11. ok hopefully he isn't a healer. the last thing I would want a healer to say is" dooh ..... nuts " pie ?
  12. if they can make a means to do so using the cartel it will happen. that is my prediction.
  13. well said sadly wow clone mmos attract too many players that abuse a dps meter and players which could learn from them as well. however there are ways to teach players to be better without one but you can not by any means curb the abuse of them. some of us have played mmos long before dps meters came out and have learned to check out new specs and rotations through other means. it also isn't too hard to tell in a raid environment who the slacker is. it isn't gear either.
  14. it was very much the same way with the event at level 50. it was and still is the same way with fp hms too in this game. you have a group of over geared players who just want to rush the encounter and get the end reward. you being geared as such is a speed bump for them to quickly get their tokens. at level 50 you had to have a certain amount of hp to survive the encounter in story mode. even if you died a few players geared as such with over geared players made the encounter still easily done. in hard mode however the dps needs to be there but that isn't what your complaint is about. you are seeing the by product of the "must have it now" gamming genre. this is prevalent in many easy mode wow clone mmos. the easiest solution is to join a like minded group of people like yourself and play with them. ie join a guild. good luck and have fun.
  15. it took rift only a few weeks to fix this problem in their game. it can't be all that hard. after 2 years one would think something would have been done by now. that in itself says something about priorities and or competency. since you must be on a pve server just keep reporting them for griefing as that is what they are doing. griefing is a bannable offense.
  16. you are correct. thing is a lot could have changed since then. like said dev being no longer employed. also if there isn't any money to be made from a revamp of old areas, it just wont happen. ie cartel only mounts.
  17. nothing. I just abandon the old ones, ones I know wont ever be completed and etc. this has served me quite well the last 13 years of mmo playing.
  18. that was how it works in eq1 except for the pvp part as pvp was limited to only pvp servers. however when the rogue failed ( got caught) the npc would attack you. since the rogue was one of the many terrible soloing classes getting caught by a npc ment death usually. there was running away but in eq1 mobs didn't leash back but rather followed you until you either died or zoned. for the few plat you would sometimes get it wasn't worth it. npcs gave a lot more coins as pcs would only give silver or gold pieces. once you failed on a pc you couldn't do any more for sometime I think. over all it wasn't done much except for giggles. for those of you that want this for roll playing you can just make a emote yourself. I did such during raid afks in eq2 and on few occasions in this game. here are examples of some of my favorites /e pick pockets bobthehealer for (large number of spaces) a lint covered gummy bear /e offers bobthehealer a lint covered gummy bear and another one /e pickpockets bobthehealer for ( large number of spaces) a wrinkled up piece of paper with a girls name and phone number /e places the paper in his pocket and looks for a phone. your imagination is your only limitation. I wouldn't recommend using credits or a link to anything in your inventory ( works well in this game to make it look even more real) to a total stranger unless you want a barrage of tells calling you a thief and to give it back. ( yes it has happened ) too bad we cant make a macro for such in this game too
  19. first: what server are you on? (if we are on the same one I would be more than willing to help with my 55 inq:D) second: the person above posted some great information; get off your planet and get to fleet is your first priority. you should be around level 10ish. mobs in the search area are 15ish I think and are all over.
  20. been like this since release. don't think it is very high on the to do list either.
  21. cybertech would be a good skill to take as you already have scavenging. you can make armoring and mods for all classes with that so it doesn't matter which class you make. slicing might be a good choice taking the place of scavenging. you can now get mats for augments and kits. taking this early is a must as you can make gear for every alt later. so you will want this now if you intend on having more toons later on. the other synergy, armormech, is only better if you are making a trooper. the trooper has all aim using companions and one companion has +5 armormech crit bonus too. you can make augments and kits with it also. (when augments and kits crit you get two instead of the one ) again take slicing instead of scavenging. the reason i am pointing out kits and augments is at 55 it is the most useful thing to have with these skills for solo players. having all of you gear augmented out is a significant boost to your toon. also they are expensive to keep buying.
  22. armstech would be the best since you can make augments and kits. biochem is ok but the re chances are really really poor for purples or have been for myself and a few friends. besides at 55 the blues are much better stat wise than the purples and with the last changes are now really cheap to buy. i suppose the artificer could make the kits but getting arch mats are mission only as compared to killing droids. at 55 there are tons of droids to scavenge while doing dailies. there really isn't a bad choice between the two you have listed. it is just a matter of what is easier and more useful right away. you can always unlearn the skills later if need be.
  23. could you be more specific on what you are seeing? like the level, quality and type of items for example. some players auction off greens when leveling. others do the extra blues after getting their purple re. the " true" costs to them would be the re cost which is much less than the cost to make. also are you looking at mission costs for green materials which can be harvested as you play ? many players make such mistakes of doing such when talking about pricing. especially people with some real life economic education without any actual experience in real and or in game economics. yes i am talking about those of you who regularly misuse the term "opportunity costs"
  24. that has happened on and off for sometime. it isn't limited to just her either. my other healing companions have had their stances turned off before too.
