Rakghoul Event is Forced

Leveling a character through Alderaan is now annoying as all hell. Every time I go to the main town I get mobbed by plague bearers. Why can't only people who accept the event quest trigger the plague bearers to attack them? I have no desire to participate in this event and now Alderaan is unplayable to me

Do the event, I got something like 100k exp for an hour of play time. It will be less for you if you are lower levelled. Buy you can also buy some good stuff from the vendor, those crystals will be a big help.

I decided to just let my sub lapse rather then spend the entire event offline to avoid it. You can't prevent getting infected without spending alot of money, and you can't play once you get infected because of the constant freezes. It's the dumbest event I've ever seen in an MMORPG, and I've seen alot of them. Purely designed for griefers and people who enjoy going online to stand in one place for 15 minutes at a time. You won't a single person that says they enjoy this event that is not using it purely to grief other players trying to get their money's worth.

first, 2k for 6 hours protection is a lot of money to you!?!

Second, I enjoy it and I am not griefing anyone, as it is to complete the quest I had my friends get together, get vaccines, so I could infect them and they could purify themselves. Speak for yourself this is like the good old days all over again!!! You got no right to say no one but griefers enjoy the event, especially since everyone has access to a very cheap cure and also, you don't represent us all for YOUR opinion.

I enjoy the event, loved the last one getting my crystal from it, earning the rep was fun, as were the quests. Didn't mind getting infected even on lower levels when i played them. To many players these events are a large part of "getting their money's worth".

Awesome. Definitely going to run a level appropriate character through Alderaan now. :)

Besides... it will die down in a few days. They always do.

Yeah.... if 2K for 6 hours of immunity is over the top...... then said character has other actual play issues then the event, IMO.

1) I Enjoy this event

2) I don't use it to grief other players. I have not infected anyone outside of the event area.

To me, if you are in the event area (the tunnels) you are fair game because you are taking part in the event.

By the way , see you when the event is over.

I'm a bit of an altohilic, but I happen to have a BH who just arrived at Alderaan for his class quests. In my mind, it's perfect timing. I can leisurely spend my time there, doing one class quest a day and spending the rest of the time on the rakghoul stuff. Having run through Alderaan seven times on every other class quest, it's fun to have some new options.

So, to rbanzai above: I'm not griefing anyone, just enjoying some new and entertaining content.

not to mention all the instances mean never waiting to a node in non-rakghoul event quest.

This event kicks booty!

I hate to say it but if you are going to go so far as to let your sub laps because you want to avoid this event then c-ya later! You are missing out on a ton of fun, just because you don't want to get infected?? That is half the fun! Get infected then run around and see if you can infect others.

Sorry Pal I'm not greifing others I give warning in general chat that I'm about to do it by announcing I am about to pop, where I'll be and how long till I pop. At one point I had people gathering around me waiting for me to pop so they could get infected.

The fact that during prime time Jedi Covenant had 10 instances of Alderan at one point means this is a VERY popular event and that you are in the minority.

Not to mention a set of dailies rewards you with a Black Green crystal, not to shabby my friends, not to shabby at all.

I think that this event rewards players well and is a lot of fun. There are a lot of things to work towards in this event and it's replay ability is at least a lvl 7 & 1/2. If you count all of the random champions and elites roaming around as well as the 2 "boss" type monsters there is plenty of challenge involved with this event This is an event that will keep people coming back even if it is just to earn enough containers to get a crystal a day.

It is obvious that this plague will spread to other planets, I'm just hopeful that the rewards and achievements will slightly change too.

Whether or not you enjoy it, the event is forced. Almost any other aspect of the game -- even some entire planets -- are take it or leave it. You never have to PvP or go to CZ-198, for instance, if you don't want to. Yet you can't even go to a vendor and spend planetary coms, for instance, without getting spewed upon in this event if your toon's a high-enough level.

I don't begrudge those who enjoy this popular event, but not everyone who doesn't like it is a whiner -- no more than everybody who does is a griefer.

In this thread: griefers slapping each other on the back.

also in this thread - someone who haven't actualy read the thread.

personally, I'm using the event to level up a few alts, to give them a much needed boost to skip all but class story on Belsavis. got enough rep at this point to just get them the relics (incidentally - damn good relics for leveling alts, cheap and don't require alignment and make your companions more powerful and you now have permanent vaccine on you). that and opportunity for some more mounts and pets :D

haven't blown anyone up, not sure what quest ya'll are talking about? or is that an achievement?

I love this event. it is not forced. I finished clas story on Ald and didnt interact with any part of event. Until I heard people say event was on. So i gave it a go at lvl 28...and hit lvl 31 by the time i finished. I even did the infect others quest. I love the looks of the weapons...not so much the gear. When I finished my dailies, i spent 2k of the 80k i got doing the quests to buy a vaccine so i could do all my fleet stuff. NOTHING in this game is forced because you can always log off.

Sadly, there will always be people that have nothing good to say. and honestly, they need to just leave.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you cant please all the people all the time. I like the way this event was done...the level scaling mobs, the gear, the environment design, the different mechanics in quests ( binocs, escort mission, heroic, etc) I hope this event is gonna be around for a bit,

You guys can say I'm whining all you want, point is whenever one of my characters in any game dies, I delete them. I play every character in every game like it's a hardcore character from the Diablo 2 days. So when I have mobs and mobs of plague bearers chasing me down that I had no idea existed in the main city of Alderaan, I get pissed. Then when I have another character die from the plague because it spread to my lvl 14 Jugg running Black Talon (I had no idea you exploded until 20 minutes ago when my Jugg exploded), I get even more pissed. This event completely ruined my playing experience when it could easily be triggered by those who want to participate in it by accepting a quest.

Say I'm complaining all you want, I just don't want this event forced on me.

Reduction to absurd to support whining going to a new level

Event is very nice and with little thinking fully avoidable if you don't want to do it.

But no... you want everything in your way and want in NAO.

Sorry - go play single player games.

you know, its your choice in how you play the games, but expecting to be able to play an MMO exactly the way you'd play a single player game like diablo 2 is... I'm trying to find a polite word to describe this notion, but the only one that comes to mind is "absurd"

moreover. when i did play diablo2 on hardore, I made very VERY sure that whatever fight I engaged in was the fight I could win. i knew exactly what I was getting into in advance. I prepared. you were not prepared. its on you, not on the game. don't blame the game for your personal missteps.

this is an MMO. its a game where you don't have an option to have an entire instance all to yourself. this is by design. and as its been pointed out - getting blown up is easily avoidable anyways. maybe if you roll another character, you'll be more aware of both the fact that getting blown up is a possibility and what measures to take to avoid it.

There is nothing wrong with what you said. Why it wasn't set up so it wouldn't effect those not involved in the event I have no idea.I didn't play much HC in D2 but I did a few Legendary Survivors in GW1 and it could be a pain.Good luck with it.
