Why force players to subscribe when they still have gametime?

Because every MMO has done is since UO..

That isn't a valid reason, you know, "we do it this way because we've always done it this way" is regressive.

What about the people who saved up money to buy it then...? And then realize they cant play the game they BOUGHT... -.-

 

Bioware is just being greedy...

The way SWTOR is currently set up.. you can't even log in to use your FREE gametime without first subscribing... what the heck?

 

I was thinking how to answer with something that would show you the reason and then realized that you are right.

I work for GameStop and people come in all the time to buy SWTOR and I say 'yay!' every time. Then I tell them that they might as well get a time card for it while they're there (or have a CC ready when they set up their account). I always get asked, 'but doesn't it come with 30 free days?' And I always reply, 'Yes, but they won't let you use it unless you input a time card or a CC.' Then I inevitably get the *** look and I tell them that they won't charge for a subsciption until the 30 has ended. I get the *** look again. And then they always have a look come over their faces which screams 'should I even buy this game in the first place?'

 

Simple solution to the problem? Charge $90 for the game and include a 60 day time card. That way people will know UP FRONT and EA can still get their greedy lil hands on the money before the fiscal year ends.
