Some nice adjustments to survivabilty.

 

 

Hey everyone,

 

I spoke with the combat team about your concerns and they are going to make some changes to Vanguards and Powertechs. Please check out the more detailed response below, including Patch Notes, on the changes. Please keep in mind, these Patch Notes are subject change.

 

 

We have been keeping a close eye on the PTS forums and the responses to the Vanguard/Powertech Top 3 thread, and we will be making some further changes to Bounty Hunters/Troopers due to some of the feedback that has been given.

 

We received some feedback about being executable while Adrenaline Rush/Kolto Overload is active, so we have decided to change the health threshold trigger for Adrenaline Rush/Kolto Overload to 35% (up from 30%), moving it outside of execute range. Adrenaline Rush/Kolto Overload is not intended to make you immune to damage or death; however, this change should make Bounty Hunters and Troopers a significantly less attractive target while Adrenaline Rush/Kolto Overload is active. This change is directed at boosting the survivability of all four Bounty Hunter and Trooper advanced classes.

 

It was also mentioned that we might be stealthily trying to nerf the Assault Specialist’s/Pyrotech’s ability to slow by unlinking Sweltering Heat from Plasma Cell/Combustible Gas Cylinder. That was not our intention, and we will make it so that Explosive Surge/Flame Sweep also triggers the slow effect from Sweltering Heat.

 

We also received plenty of feedback that Assault Specialists/Pyrotechs have very low survivability and that Degauss is just an inferior version of Hold the Line/Hydraulic Overrides. In response, we will be changing Degauss to grant 12.5/25% defense chance for 6 seconds when Diversion/Chaff Flare is activated. We will also boost the Adrenaline Fueled/Automated Defenses skill by adding 15/30% damage reduction while Adrenaline Rush/Kolto Overload is active – making the ability even more effective for Assault Specialist/Pyrotech Vanguards/Powertechs.

 

All of these changes should make it onto the PTS in an upcoming build, so feel free to try them out at your convenience.

 

Patch Notes:

 

Bounty Hunter

Kolto Overload now triggers at 35% health and may heal up to 35% of max health (both up from 30%).

 

Powertech

Shield Tech

Coolant now allows Kolto Overload to heal you beyond 35% health (up from 30%).

 

Pyrotech

The slow caused by the Sweltering Heat skill may now also be triggered by Flame Sweep.

Degauss has been redesigned: Activating Chaff Flare increases your defense chance by 12.5/25% for 6 seconds.

In addition to its previous functionality, Automated Defenses now also increases damage reduction by 15/30% while Kolto Overload is active.

 

Mercenary

Pyrotech

Degauss has been redesigned: Activating Chaff Flare increases your defense chance by 12.5/25% for 6 seconds.

 

Trooper

Adrenaline Rush now triggers at 35% health and may heal up to 35% of max health (both up from 30%).

 

Vanguard

Shield Specialist

Soldier's Grit now allows Adrenaline Rush to heal you beyond 35% health (up from 30%).

 

Assault Specialist

The slow caused by the Sweltering Heat skill may now also be triggered by Explosive Surge.

Looks like there was no perception problem after all. :)

 

Good news to be honest.

 

Some nice improvements to survivabilty.

Considering Adrenal rush gets the active cooldown reduction talent its a very nice change and well deserved.

we can heal to full lol did you see the other thread asking for a nerf to sorc. I was laughing my *** off until I realized it was real.

 

It was real? I didn't read it because I thought it was another "heal to full" thread. Going to go check it out now.

I have to look over my sheets. Just curious how this helps the pyro dps at all. It's been awhile and I miss my pyro

 

Well i guess the longer you stay alive and are in the fight the more overall dmg you do....

But it terms of burst no change yea

 

And sorcs still remain ignored while marauders interrupt and kill us in 3 gcds.

 

There is nothing wrong with Sages/sorcs. The problem is smash maras.

If they get a nerf then they are brought down to the lvl of other classes and no need for buffs.

For arenas purpose I'd have preferred a buff of our burst instead of surv. Not sure if this buff will be sufficient to see pyros renewal

***? A elemental damage DPS spec get god-mode damage reduction at 30% health? Energy Shield reduces damage by 25%, 2 mins cooldown. Kolto Overload, heals and 30% damage reduction, effectively 2 mins cooldown. Then there is another 45s 25% defense boost cooldown. On top of pull, heavy armor, and the 30s cooldown Hydraulic Override, this is over the top for a DPS spec.

 

Grab that Huttball, snare everyone with flame, pop Hydraulic and damage reduction cooldown. No one can stop the PT from scoring, except maybe focus fire from the whole team. A DPS spec gets tank level damage reduction cooldown is bullsh*t.

 

How come my Madness Assassin got left out. Mad Sin do crappier DPS and has crappier survival than Pyro, and we didn't get anything. Not only that, Mad Sin got light armor and PT got heavy armor, and we don't have any god mode defense cooldowns like this. Xinika, we need you to help us. This plain-sighted class favortism is BS!

 

Oh yeah, and say bye bye to Vengeance Jug/Vigilance Guardian in PvP. You guys are going to get kited like a mofo, and you can't kill Pyros with all their god-mode defense either. I feel sorry for you guys. Pyros will be your absolute bane.

Surviving is pretty important in arenas too. PTs have a snare on most of their major attacks now. Unpleasant for enemy healers. And middle-tree pyro/vanguards were already looking very good in arenas; better than snipers, on par with marauders.

You are right, I don't know which is more ridiculously OP anymore. Marauders or Pyro. My Mad Sin is still at the bottom of PvE and PvP. If Sin is left untouched while Pyro gets god-mode buffs, then I am done with this game.

 

Actually, These defense cooldowns are probably more ridiculous than Marauder's. Undying Rage cuts health to minimum and can be CC through. Force Camouflange forces the Marauder to retreat. Saber Ward is equivalent to Energy Shield with longer cooldown. Pyro can DPS, heal, and take damage simultaneous with Kolto Overload and Chaff Flare active.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot that Pyros got taunt and AoE taunt too. Godd*mn!

 

In the light of this Pyro buff, my Mad Sin should get to spec 15% HoT when I used Force Shroud, and Blackout should be universally usable out of stealth and give 25% damage reduction when used. Deception can keep Blackout's cooldown refresher.

Guys, rather than go full on rage mode over this look at the big picture here. The Dev's practically told VG/PT's to learn to play, now they're making adjustments. Think about that, they're watching and making changes, get on the PTS and play your toon and give some feedback, there's hope for changes here, this is a good sign, everything may not be perfect but at least changes are happenening now based off player input and experiences.

 

Also, don't forget to heal to full in order to perceive victory, it's a crucial step. :p

I feel you, seeing as madness sin is the worst spec in the game right now, but just because your underpowered spec hasn't been buffed yet doesn't mean that you should discourage the buffing of other, slightly less underpowered specs.

so now other class beside mara/sent can be in the top in defensive CD and still on the PTS, not live and u are raging about it?....im sorry sin mad is not in the top 3 answer post right now but the time for them will come, for now let just imagine that more classes will be played beside sniper/maras/ and Ope healer....at least 2 skill tree of BH/VG have use for something and ppl will think of what to do before spect into them...if they want good defense and great dps ex:AP or great defense and good dps ex;Pyro (pts version)...

 

make your representative talk to the ppl that have show us today that are listening and maybe the sin madn will get a buff in defence or dps...:D

Thermal Det needs to go back to being a single, 7-8k damage attack rather than a 5.5k attack w/ a really crappy DoT. Then Pyro/Assault would be fixed.

 

Yes, the ability to kite and own all melee classes in the game with spammable controlled snare is not enough. The ability to self heal and tank damage with heavy armor and super damage reduction is also not enough. You want the ability to blow up tanks too with 7k elemental damage crit backloaded with armor penetrating Rail Shot. You also want the ability to kill all healers too with backload 15k burst in one global. And you want to be able to do all this with no cast time, no standing still, and simultaneously run around with 30% speed boost and cannot be root or snare.

 

From the perspective of a Mad Sin who is at the very bottom of the class chain in every aspect of the game, you can go **** yourself.
