"Fondor Escort" WAAAAY Too Difficult

Fondor Escort is one of the easiest missions to complete mechanically, because not much is shooting at YOU -- by design (so you can learn how the mechanics work).

 

Nothing that hits the escaping shuttle does any damage to it except for the FIGHTERS. You can ignore the frigates and destroyers, for the most part, but you HAVE to shoot down the fighters.

 

When you get close to the frigates and destroyers they will start firing at you. Simply move in a box-shaped pattern and use the spacebar to barrel roll a lot.

 

Equip a shield generator and recharger. When there is nothing to shoot at stop shooting and your shields will recharge. They do not recharge when you are shooting.

 

That's it. Of course, if you don't like space combat you can just not do it. Personally I love it -- it's a fun little scripted event with gorgeous graphics and just enough danger on the later missions to be tense without being frustrating.

Go to the spaceship vendor in Carrick station & buy some cheap Tier 1 upgrades for your ship.

 

Makes all the missions pretty easy after that.

Don't shoot the shuttle your escorting. It can take friendly fire. I have watched two friends who complained about failing it. They all failed because they kept accidentally hitting the shuttle they are escorting.

 

As long as you kill the fighters, the shuttle will never take enough damage to drop below health and the mission is easy street. You are your own enemy if you don't aim.

Upgrade to the level 1 parts, haven't had any issues with the missions. In fact, I find them to be ridiculously easy.

You are definitely doing something wrong. I did the first 3 missions on a first try the first time i did them, with just the basic ship (no mods yet). It is not that hard.

 

Make sure you save your missiles for important stuff. When you meet a cruiser or basically a bigger ship with multiple weapons, just shoot the missiles at them asap. Small ships go down with normal "blaster" fire, missiles take down turrets from the ships, always get the 2 frontal ones first and the bottom one. This should save the escort ship from a lot of damage.

Having never done a space mission before, I passed this mission the first time through, even after burning all my missiles with 2 minutes still to go.

Ive completed every space mission available upto level 31 first time and several times after that with no issues. Im using just the vendor upgrades for my ship and having no issues.

I found that mission impossible without upgrades. I've done a LOT of space missions and find them fun and easy. The first one though I simply could not do without upgrading. All 5 attempts, the shuttle would be destroyed in the final 20s of the run.

 

With grade 1 mods, the mission is painfully easy.

Anyway, try buying some ship upgrades from either the vendor(mediocre expensive ones) or have someone with cybertech make some for you(usually cheaper/better).

 

ALSO, using barrel roll as soon as you hear the engine noise of fighters coming up behind you causes thier shots to miss 99% of the time (obvious, but some people dont notice).

Space is hard/challenging for some at times without items...after that its pretty damn fun, i've blazed through Fondor plenty of times with my trusty BT-7.

The first Empire space mission is pretty rough too. Especially since you kinda get thrown in it and sink or swim.

 

I didn't know I had missiles until the third try, in which I BARELY survived (both me and the shuttle were below 10% hp. I'm bad, I bounced off of a republic frigate as it came out of hyperspace).

 

A bit more thorough explanation might be in order for the first mission.

If you have trouble with this mission, try taking out some of the turrets on the capital ships with rockets. I assume killing the fighters is obvious. The capital ships, however, are the key to this mission.

Yep, I ran this mission a little while after I had bought all the lvl 1 ship parts and it was trivially easy. Use your blasters to take out the interceptors, barrel roll to deflect incoming fire, and use the missiles to take out the star destroyers' guns.

On a side note I think that the missions are more on the "too easy" side of difficulty. Having no upgrades at all and no clue makes the escort and the one where you have to shoot the 5 fighters and 1 fattie medium difficult.

 

With upgrades there is no way to fail, you have so much firepower and resilience.

Pretty much what the title says. The "Fondor Escort" mission, which is the first space battle for the Republic faction, is way too difficult. I've attempted this mission 20+ times I haven't even come close to completing it. I've tried several different strategies, but every time the escort shuttle gets destroyed in the final stretch.

 

The difficulty for this mission is just unreasonable, especially considering that it is the first space battle available once you get your ship. I was so frustrated with this mission that I almost gave up on space combat in general, but then I decided to try out some other missions. Ironically, the other space battles are just fine in terms of difficulty, and they're very fun. It's only the "Fondor Escort" that's giving me trouble.

 

Also, I wish there was an option to restart the mission while you're in the middle of it. There have been several instances where I have screwed up in the beginning of the mission, to the point that completing it is nearly impossible, but I have to wait until the time runs out or my ship gets destroyed to restart it. Anyway, that's my little rant about that particular space battle. Anybody else having trouble with the first mission?

 

Use A S D W to avoid incoming rounds .Do it all the time. That way even with NO UPGRADES ON THE SHIP you will have no problem having 30% life left when you finish the mission. After you get upgrades, you won't even take 10% damage . Stop whining, ask around HOW to do it, not asking BioWare to change something just for you.

Lol, what? Space missions are easy as hell. If it's too difficult for you, try harder or get ship upgrades for more damage and higher fire rate.

Difficult? I find it to be just right. Also it is the easiest of the first of the three and one of the coolest. Very nicely tuned bioware, altho i exspect more space things soon! Like being able to fly the ship without any rails attached to it. Now that would be juicy.

Or races through asteroids.

OP are you serious?

 

This is the most easy space mission in the whole game. I've done it both in beta and now on first try with i think a cigarette in one hand.

 

Seriously mate this one is very easy. Don't know what to advise to you if you think this one is hard, probably stay away from the next space missions because they will probably make you ragequit the game.
