Most servers are dead - we need transfers now, not in early summer

I'm hoping my server will get a free transfer to a more populated server and that the combined populations will be high enough that I won't feel the need to pay to transfer to my choice of servers. Also, I'm hoping my other reroll server will receive transfers, because it was light all night today and that is not acceptable.

 

Unfortunately, BioWare expects us all to just sit around waiting on them to do something, and they won't give details about what they are doing. There's 123 US servers and almost 100 of them are too low on population. I have this suspicion they may only allow free transfers to the 10 worst, which is not acceptable either. There are going to be a lot of unhappy players when they find out they didn't get a free transfer.

 

Did your crystal ball tell you only to the 10 worst?

 

I just want whatever they are going to do to work. I'd hate to get to a new server and be missing all my bank tabs or things like that. But, as for the psychic 10 number, I can't see that as being anything but a foolish guess, mostly because it is easier and faster to move people from really low pop servers to more active servers than to try and move more active servers to really slow servers.

 

That would be like having 2 baskets, one with 15 rocks and one with 2 rocks and deciding that, to consolidate them, you should move the rocks from the basket with 15 to the one with 2 ....

No, my suspicion is that they will only choose the 10 worst servers as eligible for free transfers. Just a wild guess. Let's guess 20 servers. Still not enough. The target servers for the transfers will probably be servers in the middle. Nobody knows. You see the use of the word "suspicion"? Must I define it for you?

 

There's 96 US servers I would not want to play on. I think they should take the bottom 48 and allow them to transfer to the top 48 of this list. That's the least they should do.

Server populations are dropping again. Reason? Diabolo III. The "new content" that came with 1.2 is already completed and people are bored. Since Diabolo III release the active number of players on my realm just halved. Half my guild now plays Diabolo III instead of SWTOR because there's nothing for them to do in SWTOR other than rerolling because they don't need to do the dailys, they don't need to do HMs, some don't even need to do ops, and they're bored of doing the same thing again and again.

 

It happens in all MMOs, it's not exclusive to SWTOR. People who rush through content will disappear as quickly as they appear, those who don't rush will eventually get there and they too will disappear until something new comes up. Until then we need a better LFG tool for the rest of us who are die-hard trying to still enjoy the game with dwindling and antisocial populations who only do class fights and pvp.

Bioware are aware of the problem, and promised us it will be fixed.

 

So they gave all their dedicated players who play hardcore a free month to be patient.

 

All repect to bioware for at least doing something, and go to **** with EA who only wants to earn money.

 

I have decieded to continue to pay to play, coz i know in time this will be fixed.

Looking forward to be transfered to a new server that has more people on it.

False. Only a handful of servers will be offered free transfers.

The sad thing about this is, people who want to keep playing the game and love it for what it is are leaving because there's no population to do anything. Its really frustrating, I feel like I'm being forced to quit.

 

exactly right...i un-subbed yesterday because my server has been dead so long. i have 30 days time left,and if they get transfers up in those 30 days i may re-sub,if not , im movin on.

So when they make transfers available to high pop servers it will kill all the low pop servers. because who wants to stay on a low pop server. it should be high pop to low pop. Not the other way around. once again BW screwing this one up.

no what you do is like 3 or 4 low pop to normal pop and thus make that normal pop a high pop server.

 

If they do High pop to low pop no one will transfer.

lol are you nuts? This free transfer thing is just merely the early stage of 'the server merge'. They will give targeted servers free transfers, we all transfer off and consolidate our populations - merge. Then can then shut down the empty servers eventually.

 

Who in their right mind would want to transfer from a populated server to an average, above light or around standard? I take it you play on a populated server?

I do not mind waiting 4 minutes to log in at night. Right now, I do not even bother logging in unless we are raiding...last night, Friday night - I logged in at 10pm my time and there were 10 people on the fleet.

personaly i beleave thats not enough

i play on shadow hand one of the more populated servers and there still isnt nearly enough people to do many things.

7 pm st on a friday or saturday there may be 100 people of them 20 level 50s.

It takes 45 mins to fill one to two dps spots in hm ev or kp or even sm ec.

Mergers only in connection with full out lfg acrossed all servers for fps, operations and warzones, will save this game.

 

 

When people can log on, and be in a raid group with in 15 mins or less then and only then will the game really be fixed.

this also applies to warzones and fps.

? how do you figure? there are what 60 light servers during prime time? the rest are standard with a hand full of heavy/full.

 

So you split the light servers up among the standard. Plus when you offer free server transfers you will get SOME not a lot but some people will come back.

Mergers only in connection with full out lfg acrossed all servers for fps, operations and warzones, will save this game.

this also applies to warzones and fps.

 

this is why you get a guild and add friends. My server is even smaller then that but I can fill a group with in a few mins because I know to add friends and i have a guild.

Not true. Shadow Hand is or was the 14th highest pop US server. Used to be ranked higher. It was light all night Friday. So were almost all the others. Friday night at prime time and you had well over 100 out of 123 US servers listed as light! That's only US servers.

If your friends are on maybe, if not you can allways craft things.

If you need to count on people on your friends list maybe being on, thats sad.

soon they well have had enough of the bs too, and your friends list will consist of you and your one imaginary friend youve have had most of your life.

That's the idea!

 

There are too many servers and not enough active players to fill them. There are not enough players on the heavy servers to fill them up! People on the heavy servers like having lots of people to play with. They do not want to leave that server. :rolleyes:

You must play on the imp side because rep side at prime time we lucky to see 45 people.

If 90 out of 123 servers need population fixes, you only need to transfer half of those onto the other half.

 

My server has around 30 people total online at peak times. If you double that population it's still way too low.

There's light servers and 'light' servers, the difference can be pretty huge.

This will not cut it either - even the devs have said - Stephen Reid has mentioned on his twitter - that the current 'high' population server(s) are not even on target with what they want.

Taking all of the lights and splitting them in half and saying - ok here's your two choices to transfer - will NOT fix a damn thing. I dont want to transfer from an extremely light server to a medium light server - two servers merged each with 20 people on their respective fleets all day on a Saturday and Sunday will not fix any problems.

 

People have to stop speculating as to what they are going to do. They know something like that will not fix anything. People roll alts on the fatman for a reason, and not because it has 60 people on the fleet at primetime - or because its 'standard' for 3 hours a night. No, because its RED at night and standard at 7 in the morning. This is what needs to happen to the few active servers we should all be consolidated to.

IF you want to merge just lights - then it needs to be at like a 15:1 ratio - 15 light servers to 1 - or hell, even 30:1.

hold on now you need to make sure you don't confuse a couple nights of having a low pop with actually being a low pop server.

 

 

Remember we are inbetween patches and Diablo 3 just came out. So population is going to be lower across all servers. When new content comes out people log back in. Allowing server transfers will help raise logins due to people wanting to now play with other people. Add in a new patch with new content or new seasonal event and a very different picture is painted.
