  1. It's down-sizing. When you down-size, you don't lay off a bunch of people, then hire a bunch of other people. You get rid of those jobs, as they are deemed unneeded. Right now, outside of a few writers, this down-sizing seems to have hit the QA and Community related teams the most.
  2. I like these stories. Share more.
  3. It wasn't just QA people. Writers got canned, too. It doesn't seem to be focused in one area. It's more like a down-sizing of several areas. This after the announcement of the DA3 Team being shifted to work on SWTOR. Haven't seen a certain number of posters around lately, either. Oh dear. :o
  4. I don't think it's going to happen ever. What's going to happen, and probably already has is: Original Team Members will leave/be let go, and go on to work for different companies. Eventually, Bioware will have no original creative members left (Outside the upper Management maybe) and eventually, they'll disappear, like so many before them. My Sig. is rather appropriate I think. Wish I could take credit for it.
  5. Leaving one parasitic company to join another? -_-. You're only hope of 'Bioware' being free from EA is if every original team member is still there, and they all leave together and start up another company. Not likely.
  6. Never understood the obsession of SWG. From everyone I heard prior to SWTOR being launched, they all described it as a pretty horrible game. But I guess.. compared to SWTOR it wasn't that bad? Never played it, so I don't know.
  7. Because his account has active time THAT HE PAID FOR. Is this what it's come to? Not allowing people who paid to post on the forum because you don't like what they say? Are you serious?
  8. Let's put it this way: They just reshuffled some DA3 team members over to SWTOR. Then they fire some SWTOR team members. This isn't the expected layoff's done by an MMORPG. This is a "You didn't do good enough job, you're outta here". The problem is.. I'm willing to be the real brain-trust behind this game is still there, as they always are. The litle guy takes the fall for the big guys mistakes. It's sad.
  9. No, not a chance. I bought/played Bioware games for their story primarily. Since they've been take over by EA, their writing and games have been pretty bad story-wise and gameplay wise Their games became bland and boring, with terribly simplified systems and streamlined out the buttocks. They aren't the company or team they used to be. Not even close.
  10. Meh. The Community is split down the middle. You either like the game and are therefore a fanboy, or you dislike the game and are therefore a troll/hater. Everyone gets sucked into this.. Civil War, I guess? It's funny. I'd probably be labeled a hater/troll who wants this game to die, but that makes no sense. I'm not affiliated with Bioware in anyway (Like certain posters here ), nor am I affiliated with any rival companies. I'm just a gamer. This game dying is bad for me, as it becomes one less MMORPG on the market that I can play. True, right now I have no interest in playing or subbing to this game - But who knows, in a year or two, maybe the game is worth something. In that respect, this game not dying is the best out-come for me.
  11. So, if you bought a 3 month sub at Launch (December) it wouldn't run out until April 25th December 25 - January 25 (Free Month for buying game everyone gets) January 26 - February 25 (1 Month) February 26 - March 25th (2 Months) March 26th - April 25th (3 Months) This means that those who bought the 3 or 6 month subs at Launch, still had game-time on their accounts when the Free month was given out (In early April) no matter when they unsubbed. So really, only the Month to Month subscribers had to resub to get the free month.
  12. Bioware charges you up-front, they don't do so month to month. So whoever bought those 3/6 month subs already paid. My bill was like 90$ for the 6 Month sub. And anyway, why would a player care about what's a win for Bioware? You should be worried about population.. Is there something you aren't telling us, metalgearyoda? :p
  13. You're right. I guess the 1.2 million active subscribers that aren't logged in have better things to do right now, than log-on to SWTOR Sunday night Prime Time. Effortless.
  14. 21 Servers out of 213 Standard or Above. 90% of the servers are Light. Light switches to Standard at 350. Meaning 192 servers have less than 350 on them. There's your numbers.
  15. Like was said to people who kept parading around that 1.7 Million number - They inflated those numbers. Look - I got this game during the Christmas launch, with 3 others. *Fun fact, Also got MW3 then and it sits unopened right infront of me * Anyway, two of us bought 6 Month subscriptions. He unsubbed at the end of January and was done with the game. He wasn't really hyped nor was he a big Bioware fan, just a fan of Knights of the Old Republic. Another didn't make it past the free month, he's playing Call of Duty, and the last guy is busy with real-life but when he has time he's in League of Legends (I think that's the name). Two of those can be discounted. One's an FPS junkie, and the other just really doesn't have the time for MMORPGs right now, well at-least a paid one I guess. Anyway, I canceled mine in February, mostly due to a number of factors (I wanted an Sci-Fi MMORPG, I wanted an MMORPG that actually incorporated Story, I was a huge Bioware fan in earlier years etc.) but even I couldn't stand it. Now, the point of this is simple - Me and the guy who bought the 6 Month both count in that 1.3 Million number. Neither of us play anymore. He's in Tera and I'm waiting for Guildwars 2 and The Secret World/ArcheAge. How many more of us are out there? This without including the free players they counted? Let's be brutally honest right now - This game has less than 800k Active Subscriptions. I'd say around 700k right now. This game is on a very familiar path for MMORPGs - The path to Free 2 Play. All that remains to be seen is what the pricing structure will look like. We can guesstimate pretty high since we have two huge money hoarding companies involved (EA, LucasArts). It's not going to be pretty. Not by a long shot. If you are like me, and want that Epic Sci-Fi MMORPG feel, google Otherlands. It's one I'm keeping my eye on right now. As for the "Why aren't you playing TERA; Diablo 3 etc." Well, I played the beta for Tera. I thought it was absolutely beautiful and ran smooth (By contrast, SWTOR has ugly, boring visuals and it runs like a hog). That said, it never hooked me story/lore wise, and I felt like I was playing an Aion sequel. And the only PvP I could get involved in was pointless. You turned Outlaw and attacked whoever. It didn't leave a good impression. Diablo has never interested me. I never played the first two, so picking up the 3rd without knowing the lore and such of the others is kinda stupid, imo.
