  1. Hey folks, I played pretty hard for a couple years (long ago now) in guilds like CHOSEN, later on HATRED (Disturbance, where are you folks?) MOXI, Wargasm. I think some of my characters are in LEGEND still, i've no clue. Any of my old friends out there? I was SIDIRU / PARABOL / NOSMOS / DUAT. reinstalled with 6.0 and trying to get caught up on everything. Little over whelming with the changes! Would like to raid again at some point, so i'd like a decent progression GUILD, but not nearly as hard-core as back in the day. Cheers
  2. Heya, So I am thinking of returning - i have to level my toons to 65 (from 60) but i'd like to find a cool guild. I have a feeling most of my old tor friends and guild mates no longer play (lebowski, Cas, Stenny, anyone from disturbance / Wargasm or CHOSEN - where are you guys!!) I have all 8 emp toons and i used my boost for a 60 pub sent. When i played regularly back in the day, i was in some competitive guilds and always a top parser or healer. I was in CHOSEN, Disturbance, MOX, Wargasm, Hatred at one point though I barely remember that. Toon names are: Siduru (mara) Parabole (sin) Skrem (jug) Hornsmcred (merc) Hotstuffcmgthru (PT) Nosmos (used to be sorc heals, now its my sniper) Duat (sorc) and some others I forget. Ideally i'd just like to get back into the game and get back into raiding. Currently I am unsure of what kind of schedule i can keep, since it's summer etc...so perhaps a more casual position to start as i shake off the dust and remember how to play my toons. Cheers!
  3. I quit playing madness when 2.0 dropped, since its very boring now. But an easy way to keep track of your dots is to apply Creeping terror + Discharge then Deathfield....by the time Deathfield comes off coolodwn your almost ready to apply CT and Discharge again - give or take a few thrashes. They really need to make the classes more unique (again?). The whole shared tree seems lazy, especially now that they are virtually carbon copies
  4. Hey buddeh - yeah my Mara is missing the main hand 78 hilt, some BiS enhancments and I suppose the dread forged 2 implants - but he's geared. Been playing a lot on The Harbinger. A good friend of mine on the Harbinger, who is an amazing Sniper wants to move to an east coast server as well. If i bring a toon back there, he'l most likely come with me. I won't be on much this week, friends and their kids are visiting until Saturday - but i'll hop on at some point and say hi!
  5. Hey Gordon (Siduru here). I transferred all of my toons over to the Harbinger quite awhile ago, soon after I moved out west and got my PC. Kind of thinking of transferring my mara or sniper BACK to the harbinger. U guys still raiding?
  6. Well, the sin was on of the first few toons i levelled off launch - so it's been awhile. I am however pretty certain I levelled as darkness. If you plan to tank end-game, I would suggest levelling as darkness and pickup tank gear along the way (so your used to it). Darkness + your healer makes for some easy levelling, and solo'n Heroics. If you want to DPS end game, I would suggest levelling as deception - the levelling process is pretty quick with stealth classes like the SIN since you can skip a lot of mobs questing you normally wouldn't. Deception levelling would work well with your tank, which would allow you to maul people while your tank has aggro. Healer will work fine as well. Currently, deception at end game is - generally speaking - sub-par, overall. It lacks the sustained damage, even though a lot of the fights in the new Operations do have down time in between boss time. Deception has incredible burst - and is VERY fun in PVP. Madness...I never play that anymore. It got boring when they changed the trees for 2.0. Madness is your sustained DoT spec. Deception is your burst. Deception you want your standard 100/110 accuracy with as much power as you can go. For Darkness, you want a good absorp rating > shield rating > defense...but levelling, that stuff does not really matter. You could also level as Darkness with DPS gear minus the shield
  7. I moved out west back in Feb, and after realizing the 3 hour time difference because of work just would not cut it with raid times on po5...i transferred a couple toons to the harbinger. Then, realizing that NOT having all my toons to craft and make money sucked - I transferred more. Then, realizing I need to use other toons to keep my interest after awhile - I transferred all my 55's (50's). Yeah, so it probably cost me around 70 bucks or less for 8. Got a few over through the 50 percent off deal. Sucks but...what can ya do!
  8. Well, it's doable...but like i said above, can be a bit more taxing on the other healer as opposed to if you were on a sorc or operative. For instance, on Dread Master Brontes (last boss of DF) during the transition into the last phase when the 2 hands and six fingers pop up. There is a lot of raid damage going out. My merc, i stand on my finger trying to single target heal people while trying to toss my kolto bomb when people arent grouped up... It's just so much easier on my operative - the aoe heal just picks out people, the HoT's....
  9. Mercs are viable as dps'rs for end game, though snipers and mara's will pull ahead. Also, i find dps'n on my merc incredibly boring, at least arsenal. Preference though, I suppose. As for Healing - I have all three healers and all are geared enough for the new HM ops. Merc, is definitely doable as heals - but in 8 man your healing partner may feel more taxed at times when all 8 players are low on health and your hitting your supercharged gas and scanning away only to hit 4-5 in a row that don't crit. See...merc healing has nothing that increases crit chance and the healing style revolves around it, heavily. My reasoning why this is 'bad', and why Merc healers seem less viable - or slightly more gimped, is because every heal aside from emergency scan and rapid shots requires you to stand, cast for x amount of time and a heal goes off. Now, on my operative and sorc - a lot of the heals are channeled, heals over x amount of time. This means each TICK has x amount of chance to crit. Anything we have that tick's...are small, basic heals (rapid shots, pro-active medicine..**** is that my operative? I get confused). At any rate....Supercharged gas needs to increase the crit chance of on of the heals, or make emergency scan an insta crit. Power Surge etc needs to act like recklessness as well - giving x-amount of crit. There's nothing more annoying in that "Oh sh*t" moment, hitting your power surge etc for your instant no heat heal and it does not crit...ug.
  10. Having no crit as a merc healer seems...odd. I have all three classes and play them all - I do enjoy my merc healer, but in the end it does feel more gimped compared to my sorc and operative. We are stationary healers like the sorc, with the exception of Emergency scan and rapid shots - and emergency scan, may not even crit making it more of a heat management heal. The merc healing tree needs a little love - I would love to see something like the sorcs force bending, in relation to Supercharged gas. Currently it does some nice things (and useless like a free unload shot). It would be nice if "while supercharged gas is active your emergy scan crit chance is increased by 60 percent" etc. Or change power surge etc, to give it something like Recklessnes - increased crit chance on emergency scan...something like that. Rapid shot needs to be re-designed, need to be able to use it on ourselves. Sorcs can use innervate, operatives healing scan. Healing scan heals for a lot more, too. The fact is, when major raid damage is going out and your stuck hitting super charged gas and casting your healing scan etc...and they are not critting...it's a lot more effort for the other healer (handing out HoT's and whatnot). Healing end game is doable right now with the merc, it's just a bit more taxing on the other healer in certain situations. The mercs need some garunteed crit abilities or increased crit abilities, since everything is casted your chances of critting on that one Heal is lower, as opposed to the sorc or operative who heals over time and each tick can crit.
  11. Yeah, i'd go with an i5 2500k or the ivy bridge chipset, mobo's can be pretty cheap. Mine is an asrock extreme3 gen 3 or something, and i have 12 gigs of ram (ram is really cheap). Your GFX card, if you are buying new you may as well get a 6xx or 7xx series Nvidia card (if you go intel for your cpu). An SSD helps a lot.
  12. English is fine bro, more coherent then a lot of folks who post on these forums
  13. many folks who have played this game since launch have many, many end game toons - most likely all geared. If achievments were implemented better I may actually look at them. I don't think I've ever even opened my Codex before. In LOTRO, for instance, your 'codex' or achievement system there offered things - whether it was a small boost in a stat or w/e. It made running out and slaughtering a certain group NPC's for hours, semi-worth it. Right now the achievement list offers nothing, but a few CC"s here and there
  14. I don't PVP much anymore - it goes in spurts for me. That aside, the Galactic Starfighter does look fun - and its a welcomed addition to the game. "Addition". Now let's be real - The game has had countless content added that has only been PVE oriented - there are how many operations now? This new expansion should be great - for both crowds.
  15. Quite a few games are made with 3d vision in mind - like Metro 2033 (which is crazy). Any game can be converted to 3d by the hardware (stereoscopic glasses) and having a 120hz monitor or higher. It simply renders the image twice on the screen and the stereoscopic glasses convert it. Of course games that come to the shelf with 3d support are amazing - because they are DESIGNED for it. For instance, in Metro you have all the particle effects and in 3d the float out of the screen - there's real depth. Tor was not designed with 3d support, but it can be played with 3d if you have the equipment. Lots of people do, there are many forum posts on the subject with hints to tweak it. The big issue with games that launch with NO 3d in mind, are ghosting effects from lighting - this can be remedied by turning off some in game features. Another thing is your mouse curser - since the game wasnt desgined for 3d, the curser does not appear to be on the 'front' of the monitor. Things like that.
  16. You shouldn't need to use rifle shot healing. Your DPS are there for a reason - use orbital strike when you can, most often before a fight starts. I often toss CD but other then that, my jarb is to heal
  17. I use diagnostic scan all the time - esepcially after casting the larger heals which take more resources - kolto ingejction +diagnostic scan to regen then continue on. I also use my kolto injection + the free heal that uses tactical advantage - a lot. This can equate to a 10k heal + an instant 5k or so if everything crits.
  18. Oh for certain cut scenes - gotcha, my bad!
  19. I still don't understand your comment - i have a real 3d system. TOR has nothing to do with it - if you dont have the proper equipment (aka a 120hz or great refresh rate on your monitor) there cannot be any 3d. They couldnt make a 3d game, like one you see at the movies with the crappy analog glasses that everyone could simply slap on and play. It requires you owning the proper technology to view it.
  20. As I said - if you have a 120 hz monitor and the nvidia 3d glasses kit - you can play this game in 3d. That is whats required. Oh, and good graphics card, since 3d renders the image twice you need a beefy GPU if you want smooth gameplay. Swtor using the nvidia 3d looks cool, but they have not developed the game with 3d vision in mind (unlike say, Metro 2033 and various other games) so a few of the in game options will cause ghosting effects. Bloom should probably turned off - and you can play around with the convergence etc. I sometimes play tor in 3d, but only when doing dailies etc.
  21. You need a 120hz monitor for 3d. Most people have a 60 hz. The 120hz will render the image twice (in 60fps) and the glasse swill give you the 3d effect. If you do have a 120hz monitor and the kit, you simply enable the 3d through your nvidia controller menu - and there are hot keys to increase / decrease the convergence etc
  22. Get the nvidia 3d glasses and a 120hz monitor. I have it. Tor is not optimized fully for it (some ghosting effects) but with a litlte tweaking it looks good
  23. heh, i'm an nvidia man myself - more so because i have an intel chip which seems to work better
  24. ^ What he said. Pre-packaged dell computers are aimed at the elderly and people who know nothing about PC's - and people who do nothing but check e-mail and facebook. We're talking mostly about the Dell's of the world. If your a PC gamer - build it. Simple. You can build a better computer for the same price if not cheaper then buying a pre-packaged one. As for Tor - OC your CPU if you can, or want to. And slap that on an SSD. This will help load times by quite a bit. I am on a GTX 580 with an I5 2500k, and 12 gigs of ram. My CPU is oc'd to around 4.0 with a water cooler. Unfortunately I had to put tor on my normal hard-drive so i could put bf4 on my small ssd recently, so i do notice TOR being a bit..choppier. The benefit of building your own is future-proofing it. You can replace parts, as needed. But welcome to the world of the PC gamer. My gtx 580 is still a good card...but I want to play Bf4 at ULTRA so now I want a NEW video card (hellllo 780)... Ug.
