Guild Bank missing features

So finally we're getting a guild bank, a basic requirement for running a guild in an MMO and one which should have been in the game from the start.

 

But really? Is this right? NO guild tax feature?

So here is what IS coming for guild banks in 1.2:

 

(The following information is based on the current PTS patch and may change slightly before launch.)

 

BASIC FACTS:

 

You need 12 members in your guild and 600 k credits to activate the guild bank.

 

To access the guild bank, you must go to the Galactic Trade section of the fleet – it cannot be accessed the guild menu (G button)

 

There are 7 storage tabs in total, each tab with 90 slots. The 2nd tab costs 1 million, 3rd tab costs 2 million, 4th tab costs 3.5 million, 5th tab costs 7 million, 6th tab costs 15 million, and the 7th tab costs 30 million. So in total that is 60 million for 7 tabs

 

There are withdrawal limits for credits and items that are weekly and reset on a Tuesday

 

Four interface tabs are available: Vaults, Log, Ledger, and Manage. Only the first two are accessible to guild members. Ledger and Manage are currently exclusive to the guild leader (not even officers have access to them).

 

Patch 1.2 does NOT currently include a guild tax system

 

VAULT TAB:

 

This is the first interface tab and is the one that will be used the most often. As a normal guild member, you only have access to the first two interface tabs: Vaults and Log.

 

LOG TAB:

 

This tab keep track of only items. It essentially shows you the person’s name, item deposited/withdrawal and the timestamp. This log currently only keep track of 100 item transactions.

 

LEDGER TAB:

 

This tab is only viewable by the guild leader currently (not any officers). It keeps track of all the credit transactions of all guild members for the current and previous week.

 

MANAGE TAB:

 

This is also only viewable by the guild leader (not any officers). Here you can set all the permissions for each rank within your guild. You can set weekly credit allowance that your members can use to withdrawal, repair, and respec. You can also prevent certain tabs from showing to certain ranks and prevent some ranks from adding items to certain tabs. 'Stack separately', when enabled, will count a stack items towards the withdrawal limit. With that option enabled, a stack of 10 items will count as 10 items rather than 1 item.

 

Speaking of repairs, with the guild bank, members will now have an option when repairing to use guild funds if it is enabled for them. In situations where the guild funds is not enough for a full repair, you will need to click on items to repair individually until you used up the guild fund.

Not to mention that I believe it's only accessible by the guildmaster.

 

Where do you get such nonsense?

 

The issue on the PTS was that it could only be SETUP and MANAGED by the Guild Master. And this is only a small problem since once it is setup you really don't make that many changes.

BUT...is this right? Is it? It can't be? Can it? A guild bank with NO guild tax feature?

I have played in many games, with many guilds and only 1 has had a tax feature, and our bank survived just fine.

They made comments about this already at the guild summit. I would tell you what they said but then I would deprive you of a learning experience.

As long as there is guild repairs i dont care..if there isnt...then its not a proper guild bank:mad:

 

That's in, but without a guild tax some other arrangement will need to exist to accrue guild funds. This maybe realistic in a small guild, but not so easy to keep a track of in larger ones.

Out of curiosity, what do guilds need money from taxes for?

 

Guild members have the option of repairing items and respeccing via the guild bank at a reduced cost, but cost it still does and that cash has to be gained from somewhere, placed in the guild bank and made available to all players (who will have individually/rank set limits).

 

Also, a guild tax makes funding the crafting of raid consumables and other items for everyones use much more straightforward.

 

Add to that the funding of upcoming guild items such as mother ships, etc, which will all have to be funded somehow.

My 2 creds. If you are having trouble keeping the guild bank healthy without taxes, you guilded with the wrong people :)

 

Disagree. It's not about trust, it's about simplicity and fairness. An auto-tax feature allows a very low tax to be applied so that everyone is contributing, but but doesn't require players to make special trips to make a deposit, and doesn't require anyone to be reminded.

 

I've played in MMO's that don't have this feature and yes, the guild bank was kept healthy and the guild itself was buoyant. But hell, this feature is basic for a guild bank in a 2012 MMO.

A guild tax is just free money added to the game. There is already to much money in this game, as evident by the cost of things on the GTN, and the prices they put on some of the Legacy items.

 

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the guild tax when the game automatically takes a % off your looted credits (each time you loot) and donate it to the guild?

 

If so then nothing is added. You loot 85% of the credits, the remaining 15% goes into your guild's bank (example).

Can be, depends on the system, but this is more or less correct. Although I've never been in a guild that has taxed at 15%, usually much. much lower. Unless of course your guild is small and you've built, purchased and crafted every high maintenance guild city/building/item going! lol
