  1. ok, since you .still. fail to see the point: I think there SHOULD be RP on an RP server. in fact I have characters on an RP server. I did't come here to advertise my own server. I came here to tell the OP (and anyone else who is looking for a server) that they need to pick the server that SUITS them. also, your claims interst me exactly zero. for the longest time people on these forums all 'agreed' this game sucks. so what were you saying again? I think I'll just ignore you now. I don't feel like being attacked for stating my opinion just because I didn't specifically include Jung Ma while giving server example - and complaining about another server's community state is defiitely rude (and no, I will not discuss it with you either because I obviously know 'my' server better than I know 'your' server)
  2. I'm not going to advertise a non-RP-er to go to an RP server. I personally find this to be quite rude, actually.
  3. lol@perfect world problem the exact same thing happened to me when I signed up for the neverwinter beta. I didn't even bother to send a ticket and figured 'well, derp yourself then!' when none of my serveral accounts I created over the years worked. not sure why they want you to use a perfect world account when all their new games fail to recognize the account
  4. this claim is false, nothing else. the only poll that was done on the carthar was that poll where some elected people could vote on how much money they were willing to pay for which version of the makeb expansion and back then the carthar were already the only species included. and 'why' carthar? they were probably the 'most liked' of the 'easier' species. we all know people want Togruta, and bioware has aknowledged it too, and said it's too much work (for now)
  5. funny that, considering the gunslinger .was. supposed to be the smuggler tank at first and they scratched that idea for whatever reason (my bet's on time problem and/or balance) that being said there will of course not be an extra skill tree.
  6. it used to be the common unspoken agreement that when you see someone fighting on a node or specific quest mobs you'd wait or find your own spot I am sticking to this, even if others don't. sometimes I send them a friendly /w telling them about it, figuring they may not actually know about this 'agreement' because they are new to MMOs or all they ever played was WoW or GW(2 definitely isn't helping here since they have the 'everyone has their own node' setting) watching out what other people do has always been a part of the MMO experience for me.
  7. the biggest problem I have (heh) with the pets is that I essentially will want to have them all twice, as I know my current main will eventually not be my main anymore (long story short I'm very persistant in my wanting a sage being a togruta and my scoundrel is only a 'substitute' until that happens. if it never happens ok... but if it does, then my 'main-I-have-in-my-head' has already missed out on pets and the idea of even more .. argh ) that being said I have the hope that the old star ships will become cheaper once new ones are out
  8. I'd say it's save to say you just pick whichever server best suits you as a .type. of server, as there's usually only one per area anyway if you live in the USA and like PVP, but aren't huge into RP, for example.. then your choice is either The Bastion (West Coast) or Prophecy of the Five (East Coast) if you live in Europe and don't like PVP, but aren't huge into RP, then your choice is Red Eclipse (unless you want to play on a French or German server, of course ) from my understanding it can happen on every server (except APAC) that you get a queue during absolute peak times or holidays, but they aren't very long usually. believe me, that's a good thing.
  9. well, we can only hope that at least .some. people at bioware are aware how much more likely people are going to purchase togruta (though this is just an estimate, but all the statistics that .I. have seen the togruta were higher in favour than the carthar were - not forgetting to mention that the togruta are at least semi-prominent outside of the eu-lore. ahsoka is well-known enough and you see them in ep.II)
  10. probably, but the event will be around for a while, so you don't have too worry about it too much. getting good end-game pvp gear is also a LOT easier now than it was at release. there's no longer a valor restriction on the gear. in fact, the pvp gear you are probably still used to (champion, battlemaster and stuff) is not even available anymore. you can go to the pvp terminal and get a recruit gear set right away that is enough to make you surivable at least for a little bit (well, longer than in lvl 47 greens anyway) and you can get 'warhero' gear easily now. then there's ranked warzones, but for those you probably want at least the full warhero gear - augmented (some system you may or may not know, but definitely interesting) if you like grinding the patch coming on thursday should be your thing to do. you will be able to grind faction points for 4 factions (with apparently more coming in the future), one of them for pvp and one of them space missions iirc. (so basically whatever you like to do, there will be a faction for it) then there's a total of 4 daily mission areas now, with section x and the black hole often seeing pvp action (if you're on a pvp server) and they have pretty interesting quests for being dailies, in my opinion. the later added operations 'explosive conflicts' and 'terror from beyond' are also a lot harder than the starter opreations (well, relatively, they've also been nerfed since they were added) so if you like end-game pve, you'll have something new to do here, too. there's been pets added. some to vendors, some are operation and flash point drops (there's been a new flashpoint added that takes the story of kaon under siege further), some you get from world bosses and others you have to do a little scavenger hunting for, if that's your thing. (most pets you get from the cartel market though) something else you may want to do is trying to get all codex entires, datacrons, and of course... pvp, some pvp... oh.. and you can do PVP!
  11. I'm afraid you'd have to post this in your server's forums, buddy.
  12. considering they did say that at the beginning stage of the development they were thinking about a third faction - but realised it's too costy - do you .honestly. think that they are even .thinking. about that possibility now, after having collected so much 'backslash' during the last 14 months and switching to f2p? granted a lot of us have wished that smuggler and bounty hunter were neutral (or could decide which side, at least) or that you can 'change faction' or that there was an actual third 'established' faction... but it didn't happen.
  13. see, that's the thing you can LIKE a game and still be annoyed at 'minor details' they are all 'minor' in regards (though this is arguable, for me for example the lack of SGRA is actually a MAJOR issue while the lack of 'real' space combat is a minor issue, I do know that on a 'grant scale' both is probably of the same value though - a minor one) to the whole game.. but are they really 'minor' to other bugs? I'd also like to know which bugs that have been around since beta and are still in-game are more important than this. there's quite a list of minor bugs around (ops frames, friends list, jump-to-lightspeed-crashes, weapons disappearing, companions randomly 'rubberbanding' while your char and mobs don't, mobs disappearing...) but how long is the list of 'important' bugs that have been around since launch that haven't been fixed yet? there's surely some annoying bugs for example in the first rounds of ops, and granted the shadow problem in denova is annoying,too... most of these things may as well .never. be fixed (it wouldn't surprise me, I've played MMOs long enough) but when you're really going on a 'problem since launch' scale, yes, the friends list and the operation chat bugs are my personal biggest annoyance. these are core to MMOs. it's what sets an MMO apart from a single player game with a co-op mode... (granted even co-op games usually have .working. chat though)
  14. you think we don't 'understand' just because we .want. something? I've .wanted. Togruta ever since I first .heard. of this game. (well, as mentioned before since beta I wanted my sage to be a togruta, but the idea of my 'main', a 'healer', being a togruta was formed waaaay before that) I'm also well aware of the difficulty of new races, especially when it comes down to clipping, but it still doens't change the fact that when Bioware doesn't know there is .demand. they are less likely to put effort into it. even if they said 'there will most definitely never in a million years be togruta playable' I'd make it a point every once in a while that I .want. my togruta sage. and I want it yesterday.
  15. as of lately, I usually run around with either my taun tauns, the raklings or one of my orobirds.... I wish I had a mini-writhering-horror to show off the collector in me is glad there .are. so many pets, but the 'achiever' in me is really upset that most of my pets say 'this person either spent lots of in-game time spending credits - or spending real life money to gamble on packs' nobody will ask you where you got the gizka from (as cute as they are), but when you run around with an almost black rakghoul or a blue orobird they will be curious/jealous. bioware, that's the reason .why. we like pets. we like to 'hunt' them
  16. doesn't mean one can't ask. I for example held off on playing a sage for the longest time(read: back in beta) because I was dead set on my sage HAVING to be a togruta. I even only played a scoundrel as a 'substitute healing class' just because of that. it took me a year - and the definite confirmation that we can get a 'high number of extra character slots' - to finally give in and just play a sage as a different race. (this was actually close to becoming such a high annoyance for me that it was on my list of reasons to not play this game anymore) and you know what? as soon as togruta become playable I will create a new sage.
  17. I wouldn't know, I never played WoW I just know that I really enjoyed an 'advanced' system such as the one in FFXI - and probably LOTRO (though it took people a while to realise that there's situations where you'd rather take a burgler or a captain than a dps runekeeper but that's a different story) what I do know is that I thought it was quite refreshing to see the 'pistols' tree in the secret world, only to realise that people wouldn't take people who aren't using the pistols for 'off-healing' instead of an actual supporter (no, healing is not a 'supporting role'. healing is healing ) what people 'prefer' for a raid is one thing. I know that I myself (a scoundrel) do prefer the healing situation 1 scoundrel + 1 sage in an 8-man. granted it annoyed me a little in lotro when I, a minstrel, usually wasn't the prefered healer in raids/dungeons a lot of group heal was needed, but I was all the more viable in the situations where you needed a single target healer. it's definitely something where I see the problems and I know TOR will always have the 'easy mode trinity' if you so wish. that is ok. my days of 'hardcore raiding' and spending hours each day trying to figure out the perfect group settings/skill rotations/group skills (since both ffxi and lotro had these I guess at least some people know what I'm getting at) are over. in TOR there's 'prefered group settings' that may be different depending on the ops (like how you only really need one tank in EV, for example)... and that's fine. it means other versions still work and more people can join (if we ignore the problem that arise with a group size of 4 leading to even bigger shortage of tanks/healers) there's a reason why there's only so many guilds working on 16 man nim ec... and when you think about how 16 people used to be a 'small raid' in the times past... heh.
  18. a) encourage people to use the group finder (granted this is ignoring the problem that only EV and KP normal mode are in there to begin with...) b) encourage people to use the costume lfg channel pretty much every server has (which probably needs a lot of work) try to figure out if there's any alliances on your server, too. or do it 'old school' and add people who you liked doing quests/flashpoints/heroics with to your friendslist (on a personal note I'd suggest adding a note .why. you added them to your friendslist, too. I for example often forget people's roles or how geared they are ;D)
  19. this. that being said, I've played the previously mentioned the secret world, which has a 16+ rating in pretty much every country it was released and I can assure you... the TOR-crowd is far more mature. I love when people act like they have such a long MMO-history, and yet they deny that maturity has zero to do with age. what's next? a server only for women so we don't get asked for our **** size anymore?... (and why not a 30+ server? oh right, because the OP probably wouldn't be allowed in )
  20. it's funny how I look at it exaclty the opposite. I too was never a fan of the 'holy trinity' HOWEVER I am a huge fan of having MORE set roles. I'm a huge fan of being forced to have more than three roles a must in a raid I want raids that need: tank offtank group-healer single-target-healer buffer/resource-management melee who also takes care of dots and similar effects ranged dps most of these things are already obsolete because some game (...) decided to get rid of it and give us the holy trinity instead, and you want it even more easy-mode? ugh. am I the only one who also sorely misses the times where you had to run around with 3-4 different sets of gear just for endgame pve content for one role because you needed different elemental dmg/resistances? the holy triniy is what works best. the 'old system' with the supporter role is no longer 'in', most people are turned off by it... but as latest game developements have shown no set roles isn't working, either. you can't have a 'serious' MMO where everyone is just a dps turning into the hulk 'smash smash smash'. if I wanted to play a marauder, I would...
  21. heh. it's not like Ilum wasn't a lvl 50 area before they took the objects and quests out (ok, technically the objects are still there if you want the valor buff) ... and 'event'? well, it's a recurring event, probably triggered every few hours/days/weeks/whatever or maybe even a 'constant' event that simply means only a certain number of player will be allowed in at the same time, since that was the 'original ilum' problem... it's hardly comparable to the rakghoul or chevin event. it's not just gonna be there for a week or two. it's gonna be there for the year - if not for much longer. and on top of that, new players will always be 'left behind' for current content. new players will never get the chance to get the founder title, will never get the chance to just buy the white/cyan/purple crystals off of a vendor, will never get the chance to get the taun taun ram, will never get the chance to get the party jawa, will never get the chance to get some of the big speeders.... that's how MMOs work, and it's how long term players will stay in a game. to show off that they've been around 'back then'.
  22. doesn't the pve set (the 'first group'.. tionese, columi and rakata) look like the first pvp set, though? I know that's the case for smuggler, but never bothered to check with the other classes.
  23. maybe they were implimenting this later on purpose figuring out the 'nay sayer' would have left by then anyway because they were bored of the game? lol
