  1. Most of it seems to come from the overdone ability graphics. But the engine they use also isn't very good. Performance has always been generally poor in this game, no matter what spec you use.
  2. There used to be some, when the game was new I remember some quite hard bosses during SP missions. You actually needed some kind of strategy! But now they are purposely making new content extremely easy, to the point where you just can't die :/ Developers claim there is a bigger market for "casual" games, and by default they make "casual" games very easy, but they don't need to. You can have casual AND challenging. Other games have done it and been very successful, Elite Dangerous for one.
  3. It's going the same way as wow with everything being made easy and no fun, which is also why most people left it years ago. Might as well not bother playing the pathetically easy game and watch all the cutscenes on youtube for free. I played through KoTFE in about 2 days without a single death (or even coming close to death) or even needing any kind of planning or strategy to beat "bosses". It's a joke. Because it's an online game, we are all forced to play the game in super easy mode, because some people are window lickers :/
  4. wouldn't surprise me. This is EA we're talking about. If they actually cared about their customers they wouldn't treat them so badly.
  5. But EA is in charge now, so it would be average at best. Like DA:I was. The days of Lucasarts and Bioware (the real Bioware) making amazing SW games are gone. They already ruined the Battlefront series. With that overpriced mess they shoveled our way recently. The problem with the games industry in general these days, is most "AAA" games are not made by proper games developers any more. They are made by salesmen and programmers, who don't really understand what makes a good game which will be played for years and years.
  6. My main gripe is they made all the story quests pathetically easy with no tactics required what so ever, it is literally impossible to die. Even against "boss" NPCs. There's no fun in that. They might as well of just had a bunch of interactive cutscenes. Theres no reason why they can't make the quests as good (and challenging) as they were in KOTOR. So yea, the story is good. But they is really no gameplay. Once I finish this expansion I think I'm probably done with SWTOR. I'll just watch the cutscenes on youtube.
  7. The big problem with SWTOR is it always felt dated. They tried NOTHING new with the game, except for making it fully voice acted. The combat feels rigid and doesn't flow very well, the game world is very static and linear and doesn't feel alive. They used a bad engine to run it all on, which STILL has the same issues it did in beta. They could have done so much more with the game. As for ESO (which is probably SWTOR's biggest competitor). It had a bad launch, but they have really turned it around since, it's quite impressive. IMO it's one of the best MMOs around now. It's F2P model is also waaaay better. The difference with ESO though is Bethesda/Zenimax will not let it fail. They will make the game better and fix problems until people are happy. But SWTOR....we all know EA....they will simply kill it and shaft everyone when the shareholders feel they might make a few million less that year.
  8. It feels out of place because it is. SWTOR's original designs were a lot more like KOTOR. But it got wowified :/ The game we got isn't what was expected, which is why so many were dissapointed come release.
  9. I wouldn't mind if they just got rid of companions during normal gameplay. I find them highly annoying, always getting in the way of clicking stuff and twitching and glitching around behind me.
  10. They could have done a lot better with this game tbh and it does feel VERY static. They could have tried out something new, using new technology but they didn't take any risks and stuck with old stuff re-used over and over in just about every MMO since wow. Just look at sci-fi games in development like Elite: Dangerous, or No Mans Sky (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNVgVl6v6YU , it even looks like starwars ffs!), both of which have MMO elements with entire proceduraly generated seamless galaxies (to scale!) as well as hand crafted core content. They could have used something like that. But that's the problem with publishers like EA, they don't let the artists use their talents :/
  11. Maybe one day, when someone makes a starwars MMO that has seamless planets and space with a massive world then speeders etc would be needed But as it stands they are novelty items, we have flight paths for the real fast travel and usually it's only a minute walk to where you need to go from there.
  12. I just wish SWTOR had the responsive combat system of Guild Wars 2. After playing it for a while and then coming back, swtor's combat just feels clumsy and slow :/
  13. That's quite a lot of animation work and testing. But a good start would be to remove the restriction on the type of weapon you can use with certain classes to add more veriety. E.g. allowing Assassin to use a single handed saber instead of just a staff, or BH rifles instead of just pistols.
  14. If I was working there, I'd be seriously worried about my job right now. The game is only shrinking
  15. There were still much better options around at the time. They shouldn't have even considered using an un-prooven engine (or one they didn't write themselves specifically for the game) for such a big project, it was a poor design decision. It's like Ferrari designing a car and getting some bloke who lives down the road to source an engine.
  16. They are never going to switch engine, it would be like making a totally new game. The only things you would be able keep are sounds, textures, models and maybe animations. It's years of work. But the main problem with SWTOR is they made the game for an era which has now passed. It was made to compete with wow, but wow is also dying. Bioware being bought out by EA didn't help either, big publishers almost always ruin things to try and appeal to mass market.
  17. Yea been noticing it for a while now, ever since the expansion patch. Usually happens with lightning discharge on my assassin. CGD is triggered but no animation, damage or debuff :/
  18. If you click on the holoterminal in your ship when there is nothing for it to do, you can see your character replaced by the one in cut-scenes for a split second. The textures are a bit sharper and the lighting is much better on them :/
  19. I'd like to see a GTN and banks on most planet's capitols tbh. Maybe not wasteland ones like Taris. 100s of people crowding fleet is dull (and laggy). They should at least make more use of the home worlds.
  20. From experience of cross realm crap in other MMOs, it makes little difference. Because the ratio of tanks/healers/dps is still about the same on every server. All it means is you have 1000 dps without a tank or healer, instead of 100... It might help PVP, but the down side is cross server groups tend to lower the quality of the community (it pretty much ruined WOW's), because some servers are full of scum and your forced to put up with them, which is worse.
  21. FPs are already far to easy now. In fact they are so easy there is little point in the story mode ones really, you can barely tell the difference. There is no challenge, therefore it is boring :/
  22. Most of the old sets looked bad anyway. Which is why most people were running around in orange/adaptive gear which you can use from level 1 But yea, crafting definitely needs more. It's been ignored since the cartel market took over. They could just tag new craftable armour as subscriber only if they are really scared about not making money off it.
  23. Yea well thinks change before release. Content was removed before the full game launched as well, either because it didn't work, didn't fit, or was just ****. That's why they put a disclaimer on previews etc.
  24. Is it actually closing the .exe or is it still running in the background? If it's just closing it with no error then something else is most likely stopping it from opening. E.g. anti-virus, corrupt or missing files (not just game files, but windows ones too), or an incompatibility somewhere etc.
