Found out this morning my class got nerfed HARD..

So I play a Commando and just found out theyve nerfed not only Grav round into the ground but also healing?? lol! Anyways im not sure what I should do. Should I just CANCEL out my swtor account or if I should reroll. And if so, what class is the new FOTM or OP class, so that I can start leveling now.

As a commando, I think the changes are good and probably not even a nerf.

 

Yes, it will be harder to play a commando well, but good players (such as those who completely read the patch notes) who do play well will do as well if not better in v1.2.

@OP.. your post shows a disturbing trait.. You knew your class was OP FOTM and now you want to play a different OP FOTM? I have no words to express my feelings.. :confused:

Thanks for the replies guys. Ok so what class should I reroll to now that Commandors are no longer viable. I will admit that yes I was a grav round spammer but thats because it was part of being a commando. But anyways what class will you guys be moving onto next I guess is what im trying to find out.

Why do you need to reroll? You're getting a 10% nerf on grav round and a buff on you're other damage. Overall you're probably getting a damage increase. They're just changing your rotation. From your post it seems like you didn't even read the changes.

yeah it was hard enough dealing with grav shot eating our resource(they should buff) now they dumbed it DOWN That was my fave skill and it is hard enogh as it needs BH needs buff

His class IS the next FOTM. Sage is getting nerfed and Merc/Commando isn't. Ergo Commando is the new FOTM.

Demolition Round's damage output has been increased by approximately 10%.

 

Curtain of Fire: the chance to trigger this effect has been increased significantly.

 

Oh noes Grav round does 10% less damage! The sky is falling!

Sentinel/Marauders are coming out ahead so far in 1.2. I have to admit, I sort of laugh at the thought of sage/sorc and tracer spammers rerolling to sentinels, and asking where the shiny "I win buttons" are :)

 

This. The FOTM is strong in this thread.

I would give it a while. I've had classes nerfed into oblivion before and I have always found ways around the limitations. Of course, taking crap from other players because you play a "useless" class is annoying, but I like to make them eat their words (of course, they don't, they aren't those kinds of people and they will steadfastly refuse to acknowledge usefulness outside of damage, kills or gross heals).

 

Internal satisfaction and the understanding that this is all cyclical.

its not the dps reduction which hurts the most its the idiotic defensive nerf only 5% damage reduction??:eek: jet boost is on cooldown longer now:eek:

tracer nerf pales infront of the power barrier/jet boost nerf. but oh wait sith warrior/jedi knight got buffed. so we'll do lil bit less damage while still spamming tracer yet we'll die even faster to glow bat users.

If you're PvPing in a grav round spec (gunnery) you're doing it wrong. Switch to Assault Specialist. Grav round is a PvE ability to debuff boss armor stats. It's purpose was never to deal large amounts of damage in and of itself, it's primarily a debuff.

99% neigh 100% of the complaint threads about 1.2 are about people who did not read the notes.

 

Heck the first several paragraphs deal with significant underlying changes to core parts of the game. Yet they still complain. Not only that but none of them will test the changes on the test server either.

 

I read through the novella patch notes and I am totally stoked about the overall changes that will impact pvp. Kudos to the developers

Umm... it's like WHOOOSH right over his head. No longer viable? TM got a slight damage nerf and a slight increase in cast time- but, elsewhere they were buffed. In the end, good players may find this a buff.

 

If you're explicitly looking for the one class you can press one button all day? Actually, mercs with TM are still the only class that can do that- albeit much more poorly. There's no other class you can rely on one specific ability- force lightning for sorcs does less than half what TM does- mara/juggs... err, only ability you could really spam is basic attack... Mara is the new FotM for GOOD players, but for you... yeaaaaaah... good luck there. Ops... guess you could spam that instant shot for a few seconds- PT you can enjoy a few seconds of melee flame bursts for a quarter of TM damage.

 

 

TLDR- TM is still the best ability for people who can't count to two.

in a balanced game all specs should be viable in pvp not one trick pony, besides vanguard assault > commando assault.

Gunnery tree seems to have gotten balanced alot so thats not an issue.

 

 

Combat medic however......... good god *** were they thinking. Im gonna try it out but if it works like what i just read they have destroyed my class..........

 

 

Buffs. Kolto bomb now hits "1" extra person.

 

Nerfs. Our healing costs more ammo, by alot. We have less crit chance on heals. Our only 2 dps options got nerfed (mortor volley has smaller radius and charged bolts does 10% less damage).

 

 

 

Guess ima be spending alot of time leveling alts since my main wich i spent so much time working on is almost useless now.

They are generally "adjusting" healing across the board. I'm not sure why, but Blizzard apparently started a trend: balance the game on the backs of healers.

 

Worked so well for them that I no longer play their games. Any of them (yep - I guess I'm a bit vindictive =P).

 

For some reason, a lot of people would prefer that healing be insignificant in these games. GW2, in fact, is building a whole game around "selfish heals", those heals that are only for ME! If a healer is not a guaranteed kill, people fret that maybe they aren't as uber as they like to tell their guildies they are.

if you actually pay attention, you'll see both barrage/heat seeking missiles gain advantages from spamming TM, so the spamming will continue. 10%tm nerf is a not big deal, its the nerf to knockback which will be on CD longer now and 5%damage reduction nerf from power barrier. so our dps stays the same while we get easier to kill. biodumb also nerfed my scoundrel for no reason.

The cast time of grav round/TM is not changing!

 

Muzzle Fluting no longer reduces Energy Cell costs. It now reduces the activation time of Charged Bolts and Grav Round by .5 seconds.

 

It's a 10% damage nerf. That damage is even offset elsewhere. It's a rotation change. THATS IT. Deal with it.

I would disagree and say all classes should be viable in PvP, not all specs. There are some specs that are just tailored for one or the other. That said, gunnery is still plenty viable for PvP, it's just not optimal compared to the mobility offered by Assault Specialist.
