Liquidacid
What happens if some douche Sith Lord cuts off a Twi'lek's lekku (headtails)? Does the impact kill them? well i know it doesn't kill them... the wiki does say they are very sensative and grabing one hard could incapacitate a Twi;lek from the pain and that major damage could cause lasting brain damage... tho there are a few in canon who have had one severed and lived.. Alema Rar had one almost completely loped off and lived.. tho she was rather crazy but that started before it happened Edited February 14, 2012 by Liquidacid
Tuscad
What happens if some douche Sith Lord cuts off a Twi'lek's lekku (headtails)? Does the impact kill them? The main character of the video game: Fatal Alliance also had only one lekku, the other was robotic.
Slift
No. It just hurts a lot. Absurd amounts of pain doesn't kill humans... It's just the nerve endings going 'OH HEY, SOMETHING BAD IS HAPPENING TO YOU, TRY NOT TO DO THIS IN THE FUTURE.' This is true with just about anything that causes pain... Burns, cuts, venom... All the body's way of saying 'Don't mess with this again, because I will scream at you for damaging me.' Twi'lek with headtail amputations probably feel a tad 'numb' to the world with their sensory organ removed, but the certainly don't die from the sensation. Blamminator
Best post ever. Here is another Twi question. Why do males have normal ears and females have bumps?
NaimiIflya
Best post ever. Here is another Twi question. Why do males have normal ears and females have bumps? Because in Return of the Jedi, Bib Fortuna had Ears, and Oola had bumps. First examples of Twi'lek in Star Wars. Vecke
Because in Return of the Jedi, Bib Fortuna had Ears, and Oola had bumps. First examples of Twi'lek in Star Wars. On that note, why do no male Twi'leks have that weird thing under their chin like Bib had? Was he just deformed?
LoneRebel
On that note, why do no male Twi'leks have that weird thing under their chin like Bib had? Was he just deformed? Well, he didn't seem to be the most attractive Twi'lek around...
Slift
in books some time after NJO I belive, there a twi'lek who had both hers taken off, she said she could no longer have sex with her own kind as you need them to do so.. did not say how Lekku contain part of a Twi'lek's brain... And the movements of the Lekku are part of Twi'leki, the Twi'lek's native language. It's possible that she couldn't mate because she had advanced brain damage or Twi'leki is somehow part of a mating ritual... Obviously missing Lekku means one cannot participate. As for ears... Males and females have been shown to have conical ears or more humanoid ones. It's possible that it results from some mutation... Considering the divergent amount of subtle genetic quirks the species has... (Notably skin colour, possible Lekku mutations such as those on Orn Free Taa) It's also possible that females with conical ears have been slaves prior or raised to be slaves. Certainly, Mission Vao, Vette and Aalya Secura (To name a few) lend credence to this theory considering they were all (Mission being a theoretical) born as slaves and have conical ears. Aleya
The top 1/3rd of the Lekku contain brain tissue reported to hold a Twi's deepest, most intimate and most precious memories. It also is said that grabbing the Lekku causes pain that can totally incapacitate most Twi's. Im sure that in a medical setting under surgery the Lekku could be removed as it is a criminal punishment in the most extreme cases on ryloth but one who is without Lekku is seen as an outcast and would never be accepted by most twi's. If someone just lopped them off well, how many humans would survive having the frontal lobe just lopped off - frontal lobotomy anyone? About the same amount of Twi's would survive as humans would any form of impromptu brain surgery The Sith are cruel. They don't randomly lop off organs or body parts for a laugh. ErikModi
Well, there's the kid who got half his head blown off by a .357 and lived. To say nothing of the case of Phineas Gage. So, while lopping off a Twi'lek's lekku has a high probability of killing them due to crippling brain damage, nothing is certain.
