  1. I'm planning to create characters on every type of server; I'll use this thread to help me decide which server to pick for RP.
  2. The obvious answer to this question is that the Republic will win, simply because the Republic is the faction that still exists by the time of the prequels, while the Empire doesn't. It's such an obvious answer that I have to wonder if it's actually not going to be the case at all. The "Empire and Republic merge" theory that some people have posted here is pretty interesting. One way it could happen is this: The Sith Empire is more than just the Sith (although many Sith refuse to acknowledge it). As you play through the game, it's clearly shown how the Sith and the Imperial Military are two separate institutions (and they don't always get along). So what if, one day, the Imperial citizenry, plus Imperial Military and/or Imperial Intelligence suddenly decide they don't want to be ruled by Sith anymore, and launch a coup d'etat of sorts. After overthrowing the Sith, the military will probably take over. They could decide to carry on the war against the Republic. Think the July Plot against Hitler, where some of the plotters felt that Hitler was making a real mess of the war and that Germany could do better if someone else was in charge. Or they might enter into negotiations with the Republic that result in the Empire being peacefully absorbed into the Republic. It's a win of sorts for both sides, since the Empire ceases to exist, but at the same time they impart some of their identity on to the Republic. It's just a theory.
  3. Yeah, that's the one. Took me a while to find it too; they ought to provide more information on these ships.
  4. Since you're a Smuggler, that makes perfect sense.
  5. Just saw this response, as well as the ones from Burek and undeadsithdread, just now. Thanks for the answers guys. With what we've learned here, it appears that Sidious was even more insidious (get it?) than I originally thought.
  6. There's a lot of interesting theories as to how the Galactic Cold War will turn out, whether the Empire or the Republic will win, and so on... In the end, all we know is that there is currently a gap in the Star Wars canon for this time period. If you go to Wookieepedia and research the SW universe's timeline, you'll see that there's currently a large blank gap between the Cold War (the setting of TOR, c. 3600 BBY) and the New Sith Wars (c. 2000-1000 BBY). That's 1600 years of SW history that still have to be filled in. 1600 years is a lot of time for things to happen.
  7. So what if the concept is similar? It has to be because this is the "Warrior archetype" that MMO players are familiar with. And I highly doubt WoW was the first to develop the concept. Hello, Ultima Online called, they want their...well...everything back. EDIT: As previous players have pointed out, this archetype goes back to even before UO, to the era of D&D and MUDs and pen-and-paper RPing. But today's gamers don't know anything except WoW, so...
  8. Well, he didn't seem to be the most attractive Twi'lek around...
  9. LOL! If an HK-47 personality module ever becomes available for the ship droids, I am SO walking past them on the ship every chance I get. I've had 2V-R8 crit on a few missions as well. I must say I was shocked. To top things off he even said afterwards "There were complications master, please don't deactivate me!"
  10. Has anyone mentioned Lehon yet? The Rakata homeworld could add an interesting new dynamic to the Republic-Empire conflict (racing to gather pieces of leftover Rakata technology, for example).
  11. Maybe it's a slugthrower (the Star Wars term for guns). Not many people know this, but guns were still used in the SW universe, although very rarely. Czerka was one of the few corporations in the galaxy that still manufactured them. Unlikely, of course. But it would definitely be nice to have Slugthrowers as one of the weapon classes in the game.
  12. There is SWTOR in Mineski Infinity. I'm pretty sure I saw it there.
  13. If Dooku knew, then yeah, he must have felt more than a little betrayed when Palpatine told Anakin to kill him. Ouch. Could you give me an example of those hints he gave to Obi-Wan?
  14. Not exactly the point of this thread, but I think it's still important and relevant. I've been wondering for quite a while - was Dooku aware that Darth Sidious was Chancellor Palpatine? A few posts ago ErikModi said that he was - but I'd like to see someone else back that up as well. From a story point of view, there is no reason the story would require Dooku to know that Sidious was the chancellor. If I remember correctly, the only times we ever see Sidious contact Dooku are by holocomm. So if they never met in person, then it's perfectly possible that Dooku could go on just fine commanding the Separatists, receiving orders from Sidious to kidnap Palpatine on Coruscant, without realizing that Sidious was Palpatine.
  15. Imperial Guard all the way. It's the same reason I'm partial to the non-Force-using classes in SW - I want to prove that one doesn't need to have superpowers to be a hero. Guardsmen confront the galaxy's myriad terrors with a flashlight and a flak jacket. That makes the IG a bunch of real OGs in my opinion. Though I do like the SoBs too (get it? ), since after all they're unmodified humans as well - only they use Power Armor like Space Marines do. Yeah, I was somewhat exaggerating for effect. Abaddon didn't lead all the Black Crusades anyway, only most of them. And one could always say that his defeats in past Crusades say more about the strength of the Imperial opposition, rather than his weakness as a leader. Anyway, the 13th Black Crusade has finally succeeded in establishing a foothold, however tenuous, on Cadia. We'll see what happens next.
  16. Or: Chaos Marine Captain - "Sir, all our forces are in place to begin the assault on the corpse-worshippers." Chaos Marine Warmaster - "Very well. You may fire when ready." *no response* "I said, you may fire when ready!" *Warmaster looks around and realizes that his captain is an Emperor-class Titan.* "CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!" :D:D
  17. Someone was saying that there's no one in the WH40K Universe with half the brains of Thrawn. Well, just to elaborate on what Rayla_Felana said: "These Warhammer folks are morons; their idea of strategy is massed human wave attacks - wait, who parked this Emperor Titan behind this bush? CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The end. PS: Now, they say Abaddon the Despoiler's supposed to be a pretty good commander or something like that, but damn I can't tell, because his win-loss ratio is currently 1 to 12!
  18. The plasma is kept contained in the proper shape by an electromagnetic field. The field dissipates upon contact with anything denser than air. So when the lightsaber makes contact with a solid object, the field's dissipation allows the plasma to make contact with the object and start burning it. The denser and harder the object, the longer it takes for the saber to cut through it. When cutting through something very dense like a thick metal wall, the electromagnetic field will generate resistance instead of the alternative, which is allowing solid matter to enter the field and disrupt the plasma arc, thus shorting the lightsaber out. This is why someone using a lightsaber to cut something dense would feel resistance and progress more slowly.
  19. He has nothing positive to say, and 221 forum posts in which to say it. Some people's behavior mystifies me at times... But seriously OP, by all means, QQ more. It's a free country.
  20. I've never figured out why people who are leaving the game feel the need to tell everyone they're leaving.
  21. The Tyranids are comparable to the Yuuzhan Vong, on a much larger scale. They are both powerful extragalactic invaders that sent scouting parties far ahead of the main force, and they both rely on biological weaponry. Sources vary on the Tyranids' power, with one source saying they have already devoured thousands of galaxies, and others saying that the Milky Way is their first (apart from their home galaxy, if indeed they have one). Even assuming that they have only devoured their home galaxy so far, that would still make the main Tyranid fleet a fearsome force, since it must have total biomass equal to the entire biomass of its home galaxy.
