Lets see everyones lists. Who do you think is strongest, who the weakest. I challenge you to make a list of the classes you find the strongest in PvP.

 

 

1) Vanguard/Powertech

2) Scoundrel/Operative

3) Shadow/Assassin

4) Commando/Mercenary

5) Gunslinger/Sniper

6) Sentinel/Marauder

7) Sage/Sorcerer

8) Guardian/Juggernaut

 

 

 

What does your list look like?

What is the setting we are in?

 

If you say "hutt-ball" my answers would greatly differ from those I would give if you say "1v1" and differ more if you say "group v group" and differ some more if you say "zerg v zerg".

 

Overall for organized PvP (all 8/4 on vent together, unknown warzone)

Then I will prefer to divide the rating by function:

 

Tank (pure ability to take a beating and to make people beat on you):

 

1. Jugg

2. Powertech

3. Sin (full tank)

 

MDPS (In-your-face damage with interrupt on casters and pressure vs healers and RDPS)

 

1. Marauder

2. Sin (Deception)

3. Op

4. Powertech (non-tank) (placed here due to less CC and Escape tools)

5. Jugg (non-tank) (placed here due to less Escape tools and DPS)

 

RDPS (Ranged "What just happened?" damage)

 

1. Sniper

2. BH

3. Sorc

 

Heals (my under-researched guess. based purely on numbers I see at WZ end, and biased opinions of others)

1. Sorc (Easy to stop them from healing, but they heal for the most)

2. Op (hard to stop them from healing, but easy to make them reposition away from where they want to be)

3. BH (though much harder to kill)

 

Tank-MDPS Hybrid (Hard to kill MDPS)

 

1. Sin

2. Powertech

3. Jug

Aside from the order of healers, which I would completely reverse, I generally agree.

 

However, DPS greatly depends on how the target mitigates damage. For example, nearly all Sin damage is Mitigatable/Defense'able/Shieldable, while Powertechs do a lot of damage that avoids all three, making Powertechs much more effective DPS against tanks than Assassins.

Without adding so many qualifications that no one cares:

 

1) Shadow/Assassin(mainly KC/Darkness)

2) Vanguard/Powertech

3) Sentinel/Marauder

4) Scoundrel/Operative

5) Commando/Mercenary

6) Gunslinger/Sniper

7) Sage/Sorcerer

8) Guardian/Juggernaut

The last could just be low cause I see so few I don't see any good ones. Their toolbox doesn't look especially appealing though.

 

Side note, some of these classes are easily played to 80% of potential by total derps while others will get maybe 20% of potential with total derps.

 

The faceroll list goes something like

 

Commando/Merc - Easy to do ok, but not a real high cap

Sage/Sorc - Easy to do well, the real bad ones either don't spec or use their insane CC barrage

Guardian/Jugg - Smash spec mostly, power up and find a big group, HULK SMASH. K, now I'm done.

TANKS:

Guardian/Juggernaut

Vanguard/Powertech

Shadow/Assassin

 

MELEE DPS:

Sentinel/Marauder

Vanguard/Powertech

Guardian/Juggernaut

Shadow/Assassin

Scoundrel/Operative

 

RANGED DPS:

Commando/Mercenary

Sage/Sorcerer

Gunslinger/Sniper

 

HEALERS:

Commando/Mercenary

Sage/Sorcerer

Scoundrel/Operative

 

 

They're pretty close though, overall.

(huttball is really pushing inq/cons on the list ofc while hurting smugglers and agents ranking)

 

class balance amongst good players is really decent though, much closer than any other game EVER had two months after launch.

 

 

However, if we're talking about relative strength, how easy it is to be effective with a moderate set of playerskill, which is what really counts since that is where 95% of people playing this game are situated:

I dunno about that...Snipers aren't that bad at all.

Apart from the general consensus that BH/Troop and Sage/Sorc are slightly ahead of the pack, everything else is all over the place. It speaks volumes about just how well balanced this game is around team-based PvP.

If i had to rank them without numbers it would be as such

 

EDIT: lol forgot this is assuming both teams are premade so...

 

 

God Tier:

- Sorcerer

 

High Tier:

- Powertech

- Marauder

 

Average Tier:

- Juggernaut

- Marauder

- Mercenary

- Sniper

- Assassin

 

Trash Tier:

- Operative

I agree. My lists were tough. But I think the ones I have higher end simply have more tools for most situations.
