  1. The amount of CC is not a problem. In combination with the horrendous resolve system, the fact that the most easily applied form of CC [ease of use is a problem in itself too] does not break on damage and the relatively short CDs of them all it's quite horrible tbh.
  2. civil war is by far the best pvp map they have in the game so far. yes, CW and VS are pretty "classic" maps for a mmorpg but they work. huttball is a great idea and in a game like Team fotress 2 stuff like this works well. in a more complex game like swtor however huttball just exposes too blatantly the various issues with the resolve system/the general cc fest in this game. And class balance. Essentially the team with more force speeds, friendly pulls and leaps wins. Conveniently the most dominant classes offering above mentioned utility also come with an aoe knockback or at least a single target kb in case of juggs.
  3. it's 1.5 seconds per tick. takes an entire half minute to get back into the game if you respawn behind a door that just closed. it's way too long. the real problem about it is not just the fact that you waste so much time standing around doing nothing but also the randomness of it. With 2 even teams the match is usually decided by which team has the worse rng luck and gets stuck behind a closed door.
  4. Buffing "us" ? I like how all the mediocre sorc and merc players suddenly pretend to main a marauder and are lobbying for reverting or preventing any mara buffs. In a very altruistic fashion. Hilarious, guys. Keep it coming please. Actually, this is just another thread confirming how clueless some players are to be quite honest.
  5. two possible answers: 1) they are neither playing a class that has an advantage over marauders, like assassin and operative. Nor a class that is absolutely on equal footing, like jugg or PT 2) they are not as good a player as they think they are you are not even embarrassed to share that with us, aren't you? "because it's the class" keep telling yourself that, it will bring you very far in life
  6. because hybrid PT's are far more powerful than mercs and in real need of adjustments. To be completely honest, I don't think Mercs need a reduction in power. They just need to increase the player skill requirement quite a bit, which PT's need as well however they also need to get some good slaps with the nerft bat.
  7. where did you get that from? What I read was that they specifically said the data is not going to be available inside the game, but outside. Apparently the official statement at the ops panel was this: source: http://r2-db.com/article-rss/26977/flashpoint-and-operations-panel-highlights-and-q-a
  8. and then the next step is to get rid of classes altogether. and then everybody is just playing shooters.
  9. then they should find a way to make them only personal. Apparently the extracted log file shows only your own data. Why can this not happen in realtime within the client is what I wonder? Why can you apparently collect the data, copy it to a third party tool or website and analyze it but there is no way to show the simple personal combat data within the game? combat logs themselves are an improvement for everyone though. It's painfully clear many people would not make use of it but nobody forces them too. I do not find it acceptable however to disable them on the grounds that it is supposedly the only way to deny people parsing their group mates combat data. And if it's such a good idea and "saves the community" (this games community is pretty much WoW 2.0 already. I really don't know what people are even talking about) why has no game in recent memory disabled combat logs? No upcoming title is going to launch without one. Why? Because most players usually don't like to have to ask themselves the question "Why did I die?" and not have an answer.
  10. the point is a simple combat log might enable parsers BUT it has a primary use. And that is telling you exactly what happened to your character, in numbers, and showing very clearly "the numbers" your character made happen to the enemy. how can anyone not want to know what caused his character to go from 50% to 0 hp?
  11. what really bugs me is the hypocrisy around this topic at least from some comments after rereading a couple of pages. One argument I saw a lot: "I want to play the game in a casual way. I don't care about numbers. I like the visuals and stuff" Of course, of course. And then you see the same guys running the very same, old pve content for the xxth time over and over and over again because that is their idea of productively spending the extremely limited time they are granted on this planet. Repetition is so fun. Has nothing to do with the higher numbers on that shiny piece of armor. Nothing at all. numbers don't matter, right?
  12. mmorpgs are ALL about the numbers as far as combat is concerned. by the way - the simple, little combat log is not even visible in that screenshot. If you just want to enjoy the game beyond - do it. if you want to dig deeper into the combat, group up with like minded individuals and meet up week after week after week to beat that boss down, you WILL care about the numbers. Or why would you put yourself through weeks, months of repeating the same content over and over again? Tell me exactly - if you don't care about the higher numbers on the gear pieces you will collect, why are you wasting so much of your time running the same content week after week after week, beating the same bosses to loot the same pieces of epic gear week after week? Because repetition is fun or because you want to see your character grow? And by that we are talking about the numbers on the character sheet and the big numbers that pop up when you hit something, right? Who's stopping you again? easy. Disable all that junk and enjoy the game your way. You're free to do so.
  13. I don't have a bad attitude towards anyone just because he disagrees with me. Which is not important to you of course because you obviously don't apply your own standards to yourself. I just have a low tolerance for and tend to disagree with complete and utter ****** . I will admit to that. so I guess between you and me we will just have to agree to disagree. no harm done.
  14. comments like this really do make me want to cry. I don't know how to explain it to you any more clearly than in what I wrote before. You guys always claim in other games you played "combat logs destroyed the community". Install that game client of one of those games. Log in. Look at your chat tab, click on the chat header titled "combat [log]" or similar. then you will understand what a combat log is. It's not a dps meter. It's personal. Not about other players. dps meters might have caused trouble with the community. combat logs are purely personal.
  15. and the naysayers call the supporters rude elitists, seeking combat logs in this game for the sole purpose of feeding on making the game experience of others miserable. get over yourselves, seriously. and again combat log DOES NOT EQUAL DPS METER I know, on both sidews of the fence people seem to completely disregard the fact that at the very core of the problem there is the absence of a combat log in this game. And a combat log usually IS personal data only to begin with. There must be a cleaner way to deny the data to be read out for parsers other than completely disabling the combat log alltogether. But no combat log in a game like this is just mind-boggling to me...
  16. Bioware is approaching this in a really genius way actually. The community will not be divided because before too long all the not-so-casual players that even stuck around until now will have been alienated and moved on to greener pastures. Easy!
  17. the sooner you realize that same sex relationships ARE more important than almost anything to the majority of the players in this game, the sooner you can brace yourself for what the future holds.
  18. the amount of ignorance you guys display is astounding. a combat log is not a dps meter addon or whatever you immediately associate with the word 'combat log' . But obviously, people who have no grasp about how valuable a combat log is, will just ramble on about how their egos got hurt when faced with some cold, hard, inconvenient strings of data. maybe it will sink in if I repeat it a second time, I doubt it but worth a shot - a real time combat log displaying your characters combat actions is not a dps meter. It does not show you anything other than what your own character did and what was done to your own character. It is just a run-of-the-mill combat log like the one supplied with every other mmo you guys might have possibly played before and will potentially play long after swtor is history.
  19. force exhaustion/crush maxes the buff already, you dont need to choke. force exhaust, jump into the fray, destroy a whole group of people. then use your choke and wait for sweep to come off cd again to commence with some heavy facemelting. yes it does need fixing. the spec is not quite as cheesy and powerful on my sent as it is on a guardian but it feels extremely silly regardless.

    Best pvp healer?

sage/sorc by far. no contest at all. Not just for the pure healing prowess but the incomparable utility of the class itself. but honestly, healing in this game is just as broken and overtuned as most mmos. you will be fine with whatever class you choose. and thanks to guard and taunts it is much more forgiving as well, with great potential to become a real farce later on.
  21. Bioware as a company was completely aware that they had no idea what to do. Don't hate on them. They are newcomers to the MMO scene so they hired other talent to do their pvp for them, they already had most of the guys available anyway when EA bought Mythic. Unfortunately they chose some seriously bad apples there. and you know what they say - one bad apple spoils the bunch
  22. this poll should be renamed: Do you consider yourself a decent player? Are you confident in your own ability? you all know it's true and this is still disregarding that combat logs serve a primary purpose that is pivotal in every MMO(=telling you what exactly just happened to your character, in numbers. And what effect, in numbers, your characters actions had) combat logs allowing combat data to be read for dps meters and the like is a - maybe unwanted - secondary effect.
  23. By convention I meant I am not aware of one single, at least remotely popular game of this kind that does not have a combat log. If you say that most do not have an ingame log, please name an example. Just one And all those games pretty clearly use the term "combat log" in regards to the ui element labeled "combat log" and not a text file you can save on your pc. Every single one in the last decade and many before that even. I am not talking about a log file though. I am talking about the real time log "file" that is directly displayed within the game client. That's what a combat log usually means in regards to modern MMO's, everything else is just semantics.
  24. http://www.better-english.com/easier/theyre.htm some things are just wrong.
  25. technically it is a form of combat log of course, however it is mmo convention that the combat log is accessible through the game interface. Swtor is the only exception to that rule actually. so for the sake of simplification calling swtors's combat log a "combat log text file you can access outside of the game" is easier and a far more accurate description, otherwise people could be mislead to expect a proper real time combat log ui element like they were supplied with in any other mmo they ever played.
