I believe your referring to a terminal patient.

Pretty sick comparison.

And yes the game is terminal... Every game is. Just some will have a longer expectancy rate than others.

every single person is terminal by that logic too... the second you are born you are just one step closer to worm food :)

It seems that now a days everyone just calls someone a "troll" when their backs are against the wall. I've pretty much slapped around your posts and you chose to ignore all of them and continue to take subliminal hits at WoW, and feel the need to be obsessed with me and every post I make. Its better to be the one being hated on than the one doing the hating. I pity you, move on.

No, at first you were attacking me accusing me of insulting wow.

Now that it is obvious that I'm not going to engage your attempts to provoke me regarding wow you have switched to the "smart guy" troll and being defensive.

I'll do the only thing anyone can do in this situation and place you on ignore, thereby exempting you from further attention.

Your post history in this thread alone shows you as the one starting most of the "wow drama" by the way. ;)

Nice! Also why would people quit this game? Lightsabers, darkside, force choke...its a *********** win/win. Just be patient...all you *********** ******es do is complain and undermine the hard work people poured into this game. If you hate it so much why don't you make an mmo that shatters everyones expectations. I'm waiting *****s.

I've never been the kind to claim the death of an MMO.

I have been fully aware that SWTOR would not beat WoW since the day it was announced.

But, I also know having the largest player base does not make a game the best game.

If having the most fans means something is the best, then we should all be listening to country music, as in North America country music sales dwarf every other genre of music.

Yet, to me, country music is bloody garbage.

Similarly, I'm sure most people think my favourite band,

, is terrible noise.

Someone who needs to validate their taste by ensuring it's what the majority plays/listens to/watches is a very sad human being.

Game developers are running a business, ergo the more clients they have, the more succesful they are. Whether you like it or not, one could consider Justin Bieber a bigger success than "Anaal Nathkrakh" and not a single... khm.. is given about how you feel because of it. Having a niche market that allows one to "get by" can hardly be considered a massive success.

It all boils down to appealing for the masses - for people who are not necessarily star wars fans and others who are, for both casual and hardcore pvp'ers, for both casual and hardcore pve'ers.

Also, your examples are flawed, as it does not matter one bit how much people listen to a specific genre of music. What matters is WHO is the most popular person not what GENRE is the most popular.

What I'm saying is, it's like you're comparing sci-fi games to medieval sorts of games. We're not comparing genres, we're comparing individual games.

Customers have every right to complain.

/thread.

And if you did this in a store, you would be escorted out by security, funny how the internet suddenly makes complaining like a 2 year old a "right."

oooo the USA must be a terrible place, you have rights in the UK and they have to listen to complaints or our trading standards stamps on them... and they do ..

My local trading standards had a go at Funcom and made them removed the Directx10 from the boxes because at launch AoC didnt have Directx10

I quit WoW for this, as was my intention, and I'm having a ball with the game. No idea what everyone's hang up is. It plays like an MMO, has that wonderful Bioware style RPG factor to it, and I got companions that fight beside me...And I got a ship of my own, and a space fighting mini game that I'm actually enjoying.

What more could I want besides the ability to play as a Jawa Pimp?

WoW does suck. its made for people that need instant gratification. EQ was a thousand times better than WoW. EQ you actualy earned your toons advances. It took time. When you died it meant somthing. When you die in WoW you get to ghost walk. Leveling in WoW is so **** simple a monkey and 2 chimps can do it. Raiding in WoW is easy, ever raid in EQ, do you know what the sleeper was? Do you know how many people it took to take that one mob down? Probably not.

All WoW did to contribute to the MMO Genre was create a playerbase of instant gratification toddlers that wants there metaphorical soother Right now or else the incessant whinning started. This is a player base that as children did not get beat for doing something stupid or bad. And I do believe that if your child does a bad thing then yes a smack works better than a word. Pain equates "don't do it again", or at least get smarter and not be caught.

As far as SWToR is concerned, its a story driven MMO with all the features of a regular MMO. Thats a huge step. I love story, I love whack-a-mole gaming that is an mmo, I love the animations, I love the graphics even as they are now, This game at times makes me feel like I am playing EQ again, and thats a good thing. I think the leveling proggression rate could be a tad bit longer, I wouldn't mind a hell level or two. This game reminds me more of EQ and DAoC than WoW.

Lets talk content, WoW has more content than SWToR does to be sure, but compared to EQ, WoW is a childlike infant in the content department. And rehashing the same crap with different skins is not really content in my opinion.

All that being said, I did enjoy WoW for the time I played it, sure its been what, 7 years? And they still have not figured out Paladins, or Talent trees yet, but I am sure in another 7 years they will still be figuring out Talent trees and Paladins....

Oh whats up with dailies? is that just filler for dummies? Dailies remind me of this card you can get it says "How do you entertain an idiot? Turn card over." Then on the other side of the card it says the EXACT SAME THING. Thats freaking AWESOME!!!! I know right!

Define "dead"?

...

Yeah, that's what I thought. The definition of what constitutes a dead game is different to everyone. There's a lot of obscure niche MMOs still having an active, albeit small, community online. Would you describe those as "dead"? Because the players of those games would surely not. Or do you argue that the general consensus of the public defines whenever a game is "dead" or not?

Whatever your response is, remember that as SWTOR's population hasn't stabilized yet and as of such your resposne will most likely be in relation to another MMO, which is quite riddiculous. You don't define a game based on another.

What I can say is that the game will be viewed as a success from EA and BW's perspectives if it manages to hold at least 500,000 active subscribers (for a year, according to some). That means that it will be very much alive if it even manages that. And as such any discussion regarding the supposedly "death" of the game at this point in time is quite useless, as practically every game will show a decline in active players over the inital weeks, and even months, as players move on to other games for various reasons.

Another thing to note is that these 500,000 active subscribers doesn't have to be the same 500,000 subscribers. It's more than possible that the numbers will fluctuate quite heavy around 1,000,000 subscribers, or even more, and that these subscribers will decide on a month-to-month basis if they should pay for yet another month. The important thing is that at least 500,000 accounts are active each month.

The final thing to note is that hardly anyone plays a game around the clock. Regardless of how many active subscribers SWTOR will have, the current active online players will surely continue to go down as players continue to consume the available content in the game.

The game is dead... and yet there were 120 people in the starting area for my class last night at 3:00 am.

ALL I KNOW IS "WARCRAFT." THE GAME IS OBVIOUSLY FAILING BECAUSE I DON'T SEE NIGHT ELF MOHAWKS ROAMING AROUND ON UNICORN DRAKES.... **** LIGHTSABERS BRO.

sorry it's just what i see when i read some of the responses, not sure if that's fair when i have a subscription to both games : /

I think it is pretty clear the game is a massive success and will create a very high roi for ea over the next ten years.

Even if the game does not grow from its first month drop off it will still a money machine. I still think they will show subscriber growth from month two to month twelve which almost never happens.

I signed in this morning for the last time and noticed a huge decrease in people. It's dying.

Perhaps you just don't get on at peak hours? Or people are inviting their friends to other servers? Maybe you were just unlikely?

WoW certainly isn't dying, and I've remembered being the only person I could find in areas like Redridge. Thing is, that "cities" like the Fleet and Coruscant/Kaas are not as functional as in WoW, so people are more spread out than we are used to.

He's living in the Star Wars fantasy world.

Cool memory, you're wrong. If you couldn't login for the first month, it was your fault, not theirs. My guild since launch until now has over 200+ active members, none of which seem to remember not being able to login for a month. Typical fanboy trying to bash WoW

Kinda like the people that are complaining now about still not being able to log in, and blaming bioware for it? but it isn't on their end this time, nope. It's all BW's fault.
