I was just checking IGN's list of MMO nominations for this year:

Best Persistent World/MMO Game

Black Prophecy

DC Universe Online

Dragon Nest

Rift

World of Tanks

No SWTOR??

Yes, I know the game's not released yet but this is a nomination not a review or an award.

It is released 11 days before 2012. It is not viable for a 2011 anything. It is a 2012 game.

Only based on released games, looks like WoW really did lose popularity if it didn't make the shortlist

Looks like Rift will be winning the IGN award by a convincing streak, rest of those games in the shortlist are terrible.

I've never even heard of Black Prophecy of Dragon Nest.

And Rift? Meh, another fantasy mmo clone (yes, I played it).

It's switch to F2P is bringing in tons of money. It's not a bad game by any means. It suffered from the Beta Community finding Combat Glitches and never reporting them so they could abuse them upon launch. And that's exactly what happened.

World of Tanks is on that list for Game of the Year?

World. Of. Tanks.

The game based on driving around various interwar and WW2 American, German, and Soviet tanks for fun and profit?

That World of Tanks?

The same World of Tanks with a matchmaker so broken that, if WoW used the same, it'd routinely feature battlegrounds in which 2200+ rated PvP folks beat up on dungeon-geared L70s?

That World of Tanks?

Pills. I need pills. Only pills can make the utter despondency from realizing someone actually thinks World of Tanks is one of the best games of 2011 go away...
