Yes

Let me start this by saying I am in the office currently and could not play if I wanted to. I have been around for a few launches in the mmo world and this is by far shaping up to be the worst one for one simple reason: The masses are at the gates with pitchforks over this. From what I have seen it isn't that its being done in waves but in the fact that no one has any idea when their wave will be. BW should give the wave schedule so we at least know what they are shooting for even if it does happen faster/slower then scheduled. Murphys law: A plan is just a list of things that go wrong once the first shot is fired.

No it will not hurt them at all. In fact it may help them. If a few hundred people out of the millions who are going to play this game quit over something so trivial then I'd say the community and game will be better off w/o them in the long run.

Maybe, unless it's more than a few hundred. For the attitude that BW is displaying, gameplay better be nothing less then stellar or I can guarantee they won't need as many servers as they have.

No and yes... i'm not angry about it or anything. I just think it is asinine and dumb.

The big hurt is more so that MMOs thrive off communities and the way launches are handled can often cause communities to be bad or good and that dictates various things... though WoW probably has the worst community and it's going strong so...

Even if you put in your pre-order code the first minute of the first day it was available, heck even if you were the first person in the world to pre-order, Bioware still doesn't have to let you in for another 2 days. They said UP TO 5. And gave us 7.

What frickin' attitude? They let people know months in advance the entry would be staggered. They made it clear those who ordered first would get in first, and on top of that they began the access two days earlier than they advertised!

This is not a bad attitude on Biowares behalf at all. I played STO at launch, where i was treated to Game developers deleting any negative posts and banning those who didnt sing the praises of the game. And when things finally reached a point where they couldnt tackle all the posts, they brought in a new Moderator to pretend to be 'Q' and patronise those who had legitimate complaints.* That is bad attitude.

* Worryingly, this forum equivalent of jangling keys in front of a baby to shut it up actually worked in some cases.

You seem a little jaded, presumably because you didn't get in the first round.

Look at it this way, they didn't have to give us early access at all, so be thankful for that.

At least that way is fair? Your logic is not logical.

Hello,

I represent all of the players in Star Wars: The Old Republic. It has been decided that early access "waves" will not hurt Bioware. We have also decided to kick you off the island. Please extinguish your flame, and get the heck out...

It annoys me. If I don't get the names I want I will start this game off with a bitter taste in my mouth.

So yes it could hurt them because there are people worse than me.

Well the peopel taking that name in that scenario would have been upset f you took it before them so either way they can't make everyone happy.

I'm one of the people waiting for an invite now and I would have loved to play during my one day off work but i think what they are doing is smart and I back them up on this.

I'd like to see one reason for "Yes" that does not include the reason "This is a horrible launch day idea."

Why? This isn't launch day. This is early access. These are two different means. It's like a casino "Soft opening" (Thank you Oceans 13.)

the only way this hurts me is that i have work to attend to, i have taken vecation out just to be able to play the game, now i understand that since there isnt a guild launch i wont be able to play as early as i hoped, so i lost days of work/ wasted vecation days. And my most of my guild mates will get a head of me, so i might have to play most of the game by myself or with randoms.

So when my guild is raiding i will be leveling, which sucks a bit.

So its going to be the beta weekends all over again in my case, where i work, come home, eat and play, dont sleep then go to work agian just to be able to play for a little while.
