  1. This doesn't even really have relevance. Except in very rare cases, you can't sell a Star Wars product without featuring a Jedi Knight in the marketing material (which is what those promotional videos are.) You can get away without featuring the Jedi in stuff that really doesn't involve or doesn't focus on them (Republic Trooper), but, from a marketing standpoint, it's a Jedi Knight that sells Star Wars when you're telling a "Save the galaxy" story. The promotional videos for KOTFE simply follows that concept. The fact that you might use a different character class doesn't make the story any less relevant...it just wouldn't sell as well as using a Jedi Knight.
  2. That hasn't been my experience so far. I'm in the process of leveling up an Imperial Agent, currently running through Balmorra. I'm only a couple levels higher than the content I'm going through, and the only issue I can forsee at this point is that I'll be a bit undergeared when I head to Nar Shaada. Then again, I'm only doing the class and planet story quest lines, no heroics or non-story FP's as I progress along. (I do have to admit, however, I do have 4 effects on my class buff due to Legacy, so that does make things a little easier.
  3. I got to that point having never accepted Valkorion's assistance and got the same option for Tora as well.
  4. On my Smuggler, I was 56 when I started the SOR Flashpoints...gained a level per flashpoint. Landed on Rishi and first mission turn in put me at 61. About halfway through the Yavin content, I hit 65. This is without any XP boosting whatsoever since Early Access started
  5. It in entirely possible that it could be at that time. Everyone already has all the assets to play, it's just a matter of flipping the switch to ON for the folks that didn't qualify for Early Access.
  6. Before 4.0, I had basically transferred all my alts credits to my main, leaving each alt with about 250K. I've recently started my smuggler on the Shadows of Revan content and as of this moment (about midway between the FPs Blood Hunt and Battle For Rishi), I've made about 1M credits on just mission payouts, mob drops and vendoring items I no longer need. Further, that with no extra side missions and no extra content...Just following the class story path from the Korriban FP forward.
  7. There is one thing that I recall Valkorion saying that may have some relevance as to why the reset was done. During one of those time stop instances, when he's giving you the opportunity to use his power, I think you ask him about why he's doing all this. Valkorion basically tells you that down through the centuries he'd been content to keep at his ritual, but then you came on scene and were able to make your own destiny and that made him rethink what he was doing. Of course, it's the Emperor, so he might have just been saying that to persuade you to take his power (for those of us that are resisting that). As to the premise of the story reset, I think of it as what happened to all the great empires of the ancient world. Think of the Sith Empire and Republic as Ancient Rome and the Eternal Empire as the Germanic tribes that essentially swept away all the years of progress and culture, only the Eternal Empire is pre-emptively eliminating a threat to their own culture. It's essentially the Dark Ages for the Core Worlds and the Alliance we're building is going to be the kickstart for their version of the Renaissance.
  8. It's what caused me to give up for the evening on The Harbinger. Run a few feet, hit an invisible wall for 10-20 seconds, run a few more feet, wait again. Hit a quest NPC and wait 30 seconds for the quest cinematic or KOTOR-style screen to start up, select a response and wait a bit for the response back. It took maybe 30 mins to do C2-N2's mission and that was without any side exploring. The mission segment in the Cantina probably took about 10 minutes or so due to all the response lag.
  9. With most games, I can usually tell myself "One, maybe two hours." and be done early. However, I've managed to get through Chapter 1-8 of KotFE, and not only did I have an absolute blast playing, but I finally gave up trying to play for an hour or two and just gave in to starting at 10:30PM and then looking at the clock and seeing it was 2, 3 AM. In past games, the best that they were able to do was get me excited for some little moment here and there. With this, I've been completely wrapped in entire Chapters here. And, in Chapter 8, I was freakin' shattered for a few moments. I've played a number of different story-based games in the past, some that had damn good stories, and I've never had this level of investment in any segment of a game. If they keep this up for the following chapters, I don't know if I'll survive it.
  10. Highly doubtful that this would be in consideration for a title. (An) Empire Divided was the descriptive name in the title for Star Wars: Galaxies. Just throwing that out there.

  12. When you have to travel to one of the starter worlds (Ord Mantell, Tython, Hutta or Korriban), you will have to route through the Orbital Station for that planet. On arrival (clicking the hatch to exit your ship), just proceed across the walkway, take the elevator to the main station, then directly across from the airlocks out to the shuttle bay to take a shuttle to the planet. When you are complete, return to the spaceport (OM, Tython, Hutta) or shuttle (Korriban). Clicking on the shuttle door should give you 4 options: the location you're at, the ______ Orbital Station, Republic/Imperial Fleet or Your Ship. Story wise, the starter worlds don't have spaceports that can accommodate your personal ship, only shuttles, and have to berth your ship elsewhere while you conduct business on the planet. There used to be a cutscene when you left an orbital station that showed your ship being pushed into space from a lower airlock.
  13. Yes, it will. I had the game installed and running on a single core P4 from beta until about a month and a half after launch. When the system gave out, it was the video card (a Radeon 36XX AGP) that gave up, and not the CPU. It wasn't running the game pretty and was rather choppy at times, but it was playable with patience. The single core I was using was a P4 Prescott at 2.8 GHz...not a Celeron (which is essentially a crippled P4.)
  14. From this post: That should clear it up.
  15. I believe you gain her as a permanent companion after you complete the Coruscant series of quests...until that time she is what's considered a "Guest Companion" and only available for certain stages. Just re-summon T7 until that point.
  16. If you haven't been infected by the time the buff wears off (90 minutes), just reset the quest and keep trying. You need to fight rakghouls in the area shown on the map, and reports say the red colored ones tend to infect a lot more than the others. On my first smuggler, it probably took me 20-30 minutes to get infected. When running around with my daughter on my newer smuggler, her Sentinel got infected with the second or third one we fought, and it took me about an hour before we decided to have me reset the quest....after doing that, it was the first rakghoul I fought.
  17. And I had a different experience on my Smuggler. I spent about an hour running all over that area trying to get the fly text. I reset the quest (daughter looked up the info while I was trying) and the first red rakghoul that hit me gave me what I needed. On my original Smuggler (different server), it only took me about 10 minutes. For some reason, it can easily get bugged with way to tell until you've gone around in circles for an hour or so.
  18. If you have ever respec'ed your character with the Skill Mentor, you've been in very close proximity to the Regional Guild administration office. It's run by an NPC called a Guild Registrar, and is located on both Fleets and both Capital planets. On the Fleets, look in the Combat Training area (where your class trainers are)...they are in the room on one of the ends of the outer ring rooms. On Dromund Kass and Coruscant, look in the Market areas. Again, if you can find the Skill Mentor, just look around that area...the Guild NPC will be close by.
  19. You can create up to 8 characters on a server, and something like (not sure of the actual number) 40 characters across all servers. Restarting your story won't be that big of a deal, as it's the same basic story, with the only changes coming from making different choices along the way. It will probably go a bit quicker, as well, as you will know how the story flows better and can be a little more efficient the next time through.
  20. I would say that, of all the classes, the easiest to deal with if you're just learning are: Sith Inquisitor/Jedi Consular Bounty Hunter Basically, each of those classes are paired up perfectly at the outset. For the SI/JC, you have Qyzen Fess to tank for you while you concentrate on figuring out/learning your damage or healing rotations. Bounty Hunter (both) you get Mako, who is an excellent healer and tends to be very survivable.
  21. I recall either reading or hearing somewhere that they have a ton of voiceover work already done for future needs (this was done by the VO team during the final stages of development...basically the story was written long before the world it was going into was fully formed) and the main voice actors (essentially the 16 class actors) are contractually obligated to return and record any new voice overs that might be needed for a few years down the road. As an idea on story, I remember reading an article back when the The Matrix Online was running that basically stated that after the game was released, there was still a bunch of continuing story that was already written...All that was needed was the art assets to bring it into the game as game updates and expansions.
  22. I finished Alderaan Saturday night and really didn't have much problem with him, though I remember it being close for both Mako and I. I basically started the fight with the mez dart and ran back away from him quite a ways to drag the other two regulars away from him. Once they were finished, healed up and started on him. If you are on level (as I was), just do your best to interrupt his special and keep at him. It's not nearly as tough of a fight as the next major one you will face on the Aurora.
  23. On the Imperial Fleet, it should be in the same location. On Dromund Kaas, it's on the small plaza between the taxi terminal at the city entrance and the first set of stairs leading into Kaas City proper.
  24. For example, as an Operative (IA) or Scoundrel (Smuggler), you can spec either as a healer or DPS. With dual-/multi-spec, you'll be able to set your healing spec and a DPS spec, and then switch between the two as you desire. According to the information yesterday at the summit, later we will be able to add gear to those specs, meaning that if you have certain equipment that is better for, say, a healing spec, you can add that to the healing spec you have set up and when you change spec, your character should change equipment as well.
