Reached 50, some thoughts @ SWTOR

Those name somehow breaks a TOS/EULA? I don't see how, funny names.

I disagree on who to pander too, but this is why society fails with it's forced socialism and empathy. But I digress, if it's in the carebear rules then it's in the carebear rules.

Correct, it is in the TOS.

I'm sorry the game doesn't pander to your infantile sense of humor, but I'm sure you won't have trouble finding an outlet for it elsewhere.

Almost every MMO I know of has some sort of language in their rules against offensive and vulgar language, particularly when naming characters. You can't really blame them either, it brings up potential legal issues.

Nice list. I am starting another thread in regards to #15 as I believe it could add a lot to the game. It will be called "Fully Customizable Ships?" Or at least I plan to post it if I can get the post to show up. I have been having trouble with that for some reason.

2. Sith Inquisitor story is mind blowingly amazing. One of the best wrap up for a story out of any video game, movie or book in the last 3 decades. When my wife finished it up, everyone in our house was watching and cheering. Good job.

You must of been a huge fan of the Ghostbuster's in the 1980's, for half the storyline you are just that, busting ghosts in tombs. Amazing story indeed...

13. That race on Voss? With all the colors on them? Yeah, you should let us play as those. Very cool.

They actually just call themselves the Voss

I think that race is awesome as well and the customization could be through the roof

Problem is what could they play?

They arent force users, none of them had lightsabers, and I didnt see any in any heavy armor

Plus their lore is anti violence except for their enemies on that planet, the Gormak

I guess they could be introduced as a magic only or telekenetic class but they would have to be completly new

And really they would probably fall into the republic side and the Gormak would fall on the empire

Maybe an anti magic warrior type idk

but yea they were very cool I was imagining creating one of them

Good thread, I agree completely. Just some additions.

A mailbox/AH in our ships would help alot. Maybe BW could offer upgrades for ships using daily space mission commendations. Something like a buyable recall to your ship would be much appreciated as well.

Turning off companion interaction would be amazing, it's annoying when every time I go to my ship I hear from the protocol droid. Honestly, it makes me dread going anywhere, it's that annoying.

SOOOOOOO true. Everytime he whines about hoping i dont deactivate him when i get on the ship, i just want the dialog choices to pop up and Shock Him, Throw out Hangar door, Short Circuit, Some sort of dialog option to leave him a scrap heap.

Yes? There is no word or name that is vulgar or offensive. There are people that are offended but that is because they have some "ethically or moral thought". Why should we pander to weak-minded people. If you're offended by something, it's you that have issues not whatever offends you.

Yes, ethics and morals are what bind civilization together at the seams. Without these, society and the life you and I are accustomed to would be torn apart.

So when a player combines the term "****" with the word "fantastic", as if the act of **** is somehow a wonderful thing, it deeply offends me to my core. And please, do not make the mistake that I am either weak, or weak-minded with your own confused obtuse thinking. You would be better off playing with an angry rattlesnake. But I digress. Molesting children is not something that is wonderful or has any place in civilized society, and those that would glorify such behavior should be ostracized.

This thread is meant to be constructive, not some grounds for people to defend those being purposely offensive and disgusting. Thanks!

Just turn off voice sound in options - no more annoying companions ranting.

I really liked the Bounty Hunter story until Corellia. Tarro Blood... heheheh, that was satisfying. oh, I forgot a MAJOR complaint that needs to be included NEXT PATCH (how could I forget this???):

17. GIVE BOUNTY HUNTERS "...THE MANDALORIAN" TITLE ASAP. We deserve it. We're Mandalorians, we fought for it, we earned it. Siths get Lord and Darth, all we get is some long title that really looks silly when every other Bounty Hunter is also wearing it. It might as well read

"...Champion of the Great Hunt, but maybe not this year's Great Hunt, because the guy beside me is also a Champion of the Great Hunt, and we both didn't win this year, so yeah."

Really. :p

Not all Bounty Hunters are Mandalorian... you know this, correct? A Mandalorian is a citizen of the planet Mandalore.

And not all mandalorians are from the planet mandalore.

EDIT: Oh and great post, OP! I agree with all of your points.

Let me start by saying I'm not canceling my subscription. Overall, I'd give the game an 8.5/10. It has a lot of potential for the long term. After going through beta and now reaching 50 with my Powertech I have a few thoughts that maybe a BioWare developer will stumble across and bring up at a meeting somewhere... if they haven't been brought up already.

1. Ending for the Bounty Hunter story line was lame. Story was awesome until Corellia, then took a nose dive. I did not, in any way, shape or form, feel epic or involved.

2. Sith Inquisitor story is mind blowingly amazing. One of the best wrap up for a story out of any video game, movie or book in the last 3 decades. When my wife finished it up, everyone in our house was watching and cheering. Good job.

3. Please allow us to shut up our companions. 2V-R8 makes me want to kick babies, and I wish we could use the shock collar to induce a coma in Vette. Mako isn't too bad, but really, for the love of all that is holy, how many times do we need to hear she's not just another pretty sidekick?

4. Allow us to turn off head gear for companions. Plenty of threads on this already. Go go now, code this in.

5. I know the UI is getting fixed. Allow us to move it, resize it, etc. This can't happen soon enough.

6. PvP is fine. Keep refining it and it will be great.

7. Give us stuff to decorate the inside of our ship. Player housing is a huge strength in mmo's. This will help keep me interested in my lvl50 character by giving him something to do other than killing the same bosses over and over again for gear.

8. Deploy the armor colorization feature, where gear matches the chestpiece. We know you have it, stop delaying. Please.

9. Refine the Galactic Trade Network. Even Tabula Rasa (lol) had a search option to browse items by type. I shouldn't have to scroll through 17 pages of bracers and belts to look for something to wear on my head. I respect you guys at BioWare, however let's be honest, the GTN interface as it stands is an epic failure for the amount of money and time you've had on this game.

10. Weekly (daily) bug fixes are good, well done and thank you.

11. Auto stacking in bags? Enough said.

12. Why do I need to go to a cantina? Sure, there's rest XP for my low level toons, but what purpose do they really serve other than an inn? Can we get some quests, or maybe earn social XP, to push people into the cantinas to dance. Maybe a personal profession system, where we choose dancing or music or something similar that we can level in the cantinas. It would help get that second "m" in the "mmo". Just a thought.

13. That race on Voss? With all the colors on them? Yeah, you should let us play as those. Very cool.

14. Get the in game CSR's to start cleaning up names now. Legacy names like "Rapetastic" and "Childmolestor" really shouldn't stand more than a few hours after being reported.

15. Break the mold with level 50. Don't make it all about PvP or Pve, give us more to do. I mentioned collecting things to decorate our ships with, how up pod racing, or racing our spaceships? Set up racing circuits around the galaxy, could be fun.

16. Fix threat ratios between tanks, dps and healers. With Powertechs and Juggernauts we lose threat far too easily. Maybe better gear at 50 fixes this, but it's frustrating at the moment. Even my healer, under Guard, can peel mobs away with just a few heals. It feels broken right now.

I've got more, but that's enough for now. Thanks for a great game, I'm looking forward to seeing it improve and grow over the months and years ahead. :D

Also need option to turn off camera autofollow.

Your nuts! I love when he tells me I am "looking fit and deadly" or when he reminds the galaxy it should continue to tremble in fear of me if it knows what's good for it! He is the best!

I just got Funny looks at Work cause I burst out laughing at the 2V-R8 reference and the Legacy name thing

In general, I love SWTOR.

But yes, I thought that I could hate nothing worse than 2V-R8...

Until I got Gault (why can't I space him? Repeatedly!?).

I agree with all of OP's points, except the GTN. You can specifically search for item types, cost, level, whether it's blue or purple etc. I think it works perfectly.

There is a Search function under construction where you can search for names of the items, but according to a developer post; it had a lot of issues that couldn't be fixed with just 1 line of code, so they removed it to be able to fix it thouroughly.

SWTOR, as it stands now, has a lot of amazing content and some very bad content, but the potential for this game is unlimited. They have, what? 40-50 years of comic books, novels, movies, TV series etc. to draw inspiration and ideas from, but I loved that they focused most of their attention on the leveling experience. That will keep me entertained for months.

99% of all the feature suggestions people have are perfect for expansion content. Just because it's not in the game at launch, doesn't mean the game designers don't have plans for when to put it in the game.

Remember guys, it's EA. They have probably worked up a massive schedule that goes on for the next 2-3 years of what content to put in when.

They draw you in with the amazing story lines, then they make you ecstatic when they add new cool features and gameplay content.

I feel a little like a "/tinfoilhat" should be added at the end here, but it wouldn't surprise me considering the massive amounts of money involved in the gaming industry nowadays.

*Grin*

Actually, those things, like reciprocity and inequity avoidance, are traits that we humans share with other primates, and have since long before we walked upright (cf. Frans de Waal). Sorry, limited amounts of a built-in desire for fairness comes with the species, genus, family and order! ;)

But the way that I look at it, I'd hate it if EA/Bioware told me how to spend my money, so they're free to spend theirs as they see fit. Even with carebear rules. I'll just tell them what it takes to get MY subscription; it's up to them to market what works best for them (and enabling some carebearing seems economically sound, even in games like EVE Online with its Empire space).

Anyhow, posted again to bump this:

Love the Lord title on my Inquisitor; Mandalorian title after Chapter 1 for my Bounty Hunter, please! :D

PvP is not fine. The ability delay issue and geared level 50s mingling with non-50s in warfronts is a recipe for disaster. What's worse is that there is no incentive to PvP beyond getting gear capped. No arenas, no rated warfronts, and no groups larger than four players. The "world" PvP is also terribly designed and easily exploited by IGNORING the enemy players while you objective swap. Then there is the lack of actual world PvP as a whole.

The ability delay issue is merely tweaking, it has nothing to do with content which is what the OP was refering to. I find the Warzones filled with tons of fun, but what is killing it for me aswell is the ability delay. We have gotten a response from the Lead Combat Designer that they are investigating this issue, it will just take a little time.

They have already began seperating the brackets, it was probably just like that for a while so people in higher levels wouldn't be completely alone when it came to PvP content.

Arenas is content, same with rated Warzones. Those are PERFECT expansion content for later on. Don't expect to be spoonfed every possible idea coming out of the designers' heads at launch, that just makes you look greedy.

I have no idea what you mean about "objective swapping" so I won't get into that.

Lack of proper WorldPvP comes down to the community, not the game. Let people get settled into the game and get used to it before they start ganking newbie butt.

MMOs are the most time consuming and dangerous games to make. They don't just take up a lot of time for developers and designers, but the playerbase aswell.

The best thing we can do is be patient, if you were there at WoW launch you will know what patience feels like.

That's a bummer. My Jedi Shadow storyline was great. But like movies not everyone likes the same things. Overall good review and suggestions.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?????

Dude, go watch some real tv series like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad... with a real storyline. Jedi Consular story is the worst I've ever seen in so much time. I'm now level 42 and only since 2-3 levels it started to get a bit of my interest.
