  1. Dantooine, one of the most iconic Star Wars planets. Alot of Jedi and Sith mysticism there. Also, though not technically a planet, Yavin 4 might be kind of neat, we could see what's in those temples, what they're like right after their hey-day of Exar-Kun. As one of the nexus points for stories in the Star Wars universe, it would be great to discover what is lurking there and what mysterious secrets did Exar-Kun (or even Naga Sadow) left behind. Could these secrets tip the scales in the current galactic conflict? Certainly there is even more to the story of this place than what we have been led to believe. Please wait on Kahyyyk, include it when Wookies get released as a playable race, not before. Include an entire starting area for Wookie classes and then the level cap areas where the galactic war is raging.
  2. I've re-subbed also after a 5 month break. It is nice to see that BioWare is actively adding new content and polishing off some features that weren't, in my honest opinion, ready for launch. These things take time, no matter how large the budget or how many people a company has on staff.
  3. Remember if you will that those status listings are easily adjustable by BioWare because they can raise or lower the arbitrary population cap on any server, any time they wish. For those that are not aware of this, or understand how it works, let me give a quick example (that does not reflect any specific server): You log in to a server that reads "Full" after a few second wait. There are 150 people on Dromund Kass, 170 on the Imperial Fleet and maybe 2,000 or so people on the entire server, spread across various planets, ships and such. The next day you log in and see the server load is "Light". You log in and see the exact same number of people on Dromund Kaas and the Imperial fleet. In fact, nearly the same 2,000 or so people that were playing yesterday have logged in today all over the server! BioWare adjusted the number of players they want on that server upwards. Yesterday that cap might have been set at 2,000, today it's set at 5,000. These server groups (each server is actually groups of computers working in tandem) are very flexible and have far more capacity than many people realize. When BioWare says they've set up this game for the long run, they are very serious. As a side note, these server groups are running some of the most advanced software you'll find in any online game, without exception. You would be knocked on your *** if you understood the kinds of data BioWare can pull from everything in the game, in real time 3D projections. Very futuristic stuff, there's a few videos about it floating around. Literally mind blowing, Minority Report kind of tech. Don't underestimate what they are capable of, this isn't the outdated WoW setup or something pieced together by NcSoft.
  4. BioWare is doing transfers right. By staggering the transfers in stages, it prevents laggy, unplayable servers that piss everyone off, both existing and transferring players alike. Well done BioWare, you have launched the new transfer service in a manner that benefits players the most. It will be interesting to see which servers are topped off, which ones are emptied out, and which ones become new hubs of activity.
  5. Adaptive social gear is one of the reasons I am trying the game again. Good thing the OP doesn't design for BioWare.
  6. I left SWTOR back in January after playing since pre-launch. The following made the game boring for me: • Level 50 is (was?) the same mmo hamster wheel. Instead of feeling like an epic hero, each instance felt like the same gear grind I had experienced in other mmo's. I really wanted the end game to be more dynamic than what I had seen from other games over the years, a bit more story and a bit less chasing stats. • Rakghouls, aka another zombie horde. The mindless monster horde based on the staple zombie story seems to be what every game developer falls back on when they've run out of creativity. When Blizzard did it years back I was already sick of it and was floored that BioWare had cheapened something they'd worked so hard on with something so terrible. They might as well have put vampires into the game for all it mattered, it was a terrible choice for our first galactic threat. • Lack of personal story. One of the great things about leveling was the story. It lays the foundation for moving the character forward, and I fully expected the story to continue, at least the class stories, with every few game updates. It didn't make sense to me to lay out this great personal story line as a cornerstone of the game, then to forget about it, but continue to focus on standard mmo content. It seems some things were so unfinished at launch BioWare didn't really have a choice but to focus their resources on the basics. Anyhow, I'm back. I still love Star Wars (fanboi for 35 years) and SWTOR has the basics of a really good game. For the time being I'm focusing on the other class stories, something I probably should have done back in January, hopefully giving BioWare the time to bring together the other elements I'm looking for in a long term mmo.
  7. I'm back after 4 months to see what's going on with SWTOR. Started a completely new character instead of jumping on any of my level 50's so I could 'start from scratch'. So far I'm having fun, my once busy server is kinda dead now, but still running across players. It looks like some of the changes they've made are good, but it will be a few weeks before I can see if my biggest complaints at level 50 have been addressed. I wanted to see what other players coming back to check in on the game have to say.
  8. Update, 02/26/2012: "I am a huge Star Wars and BioWare fan, and have been looking forward to this game for years. Leveling through my first character was an above average experience compared to other MMO games, however the end-game at level 50 is extremely boring. I tried leveling other classes, but it seemed very repetitiousness. I am VERY disappointed that SWTOR is such a limited game with no open world aspects, including, but not limited to, a viable, interesting, crafting system. The rest of my family will be cancelling soon as well, until such a time as the game is expanded to include content other than repetitive questing and Flashpoints. Thanks." -Subscription Cancelled- Cya when the game gets more content... May the Force be with you.
  9. Same repeat offenders? Really? You have not read a single one of my 164+ other posts, much less the original post that started this thread. The ones where I defend the game, preach patience and collect positive, helpful information. I even stated, in detail, that I did NOT rush to level 50, that I took my time, that I have explored the game. Even that I want it to succeed. I might actually take your reply to heart if you'd actually read the first page of the thread It amazes me how many people simply rush to whatever judgement pops into their head without actually taking the time or effort to understand an issue.
  10. That was for this account. My main account, named after my SWG toon from years ago, goes back to 09. I switched accounts right after ordering, because that account went to my oldest son. The kids got Digital copies, wife and I went with install disc's. To be completely honest, that account went to my youngest son, then to his older brother because of some sort of logic that only makes sense if you have multiple teenagers. I kinda understand it, something about who bought the GW3 XBoX disc, but really... Don't get me started on my 15 year old taking it upon himself to set up the security code for that account and then forgetting the password. It took my (brilliant) wife over an hour to figure out what password he had used.

Just so you know, if you actually read my original post, you would find it full of actual suggestions, while also commenting on an overall view of the game that I may or may not correctly believe belongs within a General forum. If you wish to remain uninformed, convinced that even without full knowledge you are correct then who am I to correct you? Please continue being "not wrong".   13. You may want to read through my post history, because you may realize how completely wrong your entire reply to this thread is.
  14. First, take a breath, calm down, everything will be ok. Next, it's not polite to refer to others as "you people". I mean come on, really, relax a little. We're trying to maintain a literate, respectful conversation here. You will see that at no point have I been outraged, as you so generally state. Now, if you read my Original Post, all the way back on page one, and maybe even a few of my follow up posts, you will see that not only do I enjoy the content BioWare has offered to this point, I simply want them to go farther and vary the future content they are developing. Here's a standard food analogy this thread has really been missing up to this point: BioWare has given us a nice steak. Cooked just right, maybe could use a little more seasoning, but so far, for a new restaurant it's a darn good steak. For almost two months now, all we've been able to order is the steak. Reading patch notes and data mined information do you know what's on the menu next month? More steak. And after that? Well, it's still more steak. Tasty steak at a reasonable price, but still steak. I like steak and all, but let's get a few more items on the menu. Let's round out the menu with a few sides and maybe a desert or two. Another entree wouldn't hurt, in fact, it might encourage more people to sit down and order from the SWTOR menu. They can do it. They can give us mashed potatoes. I know that BioWare is more than capable of serving up an excellent roasted chicken. Because right now, people are getting really tired of the steak. Please read the Original Post in it's entirety.   15. Most of the answers I've already posted, you can find what I've written by either clicking on my name or looking for the orange Tahoma font. Voice acting is great, period. It is a non-issue from my perspective in regards to this conversation. Keep in mind, you aren't seeing a 'rage quit' thread from myself and many others replying that seem to feel the same way. We understand that BioWare is working on content, and they have kept the entire development team in place to do so. We just want something more than a boring a*s grindfest. I think many people realize you can have the themepark in place as a solid foundation to the game experience while offering a few more diverse sandbox elements, such as what fluid posted:
  16. I had to reply to this because it's pretty insightful in a way I hadn't considered before. By emphasizing the leveling experience up to this point, maybe BioWare is limiting the content they can offer. After all, players are going to out level the content, it's how the games designed. On the other side Blizzard* emphasizes an open end approach by focusing on content that character won't out level, at least until their next expansion. This does not mean that SWTOR is sunk, or a bad game, or any of that. It just needs more end game variety. Refocus the emphasis, diversify the content a bit. I'll think on this a bit more. It might be too narrow of an approach to the issue. Still, food for thought. (*I am in no way a fan of Blizzard or the World of Warcraft IP.)
  17. My main is a Powertech Bounty Hunter, a complete blast* to play. When I was leveling I took my time and explored everywhere I could, found Datacrons along the way, ran Heroics and often times found myself moving on to new planets at the max level for the new planet. It was, for the most part, a great experience. Now due to a bit of silliness, I have rolled far too many Sith based toons in order to see the story lines. I am at the point that I would rather gouge my eyes out and leave them blindly unseeing on the floor than experience Korriban again. Ok, maybe it's not that bad, but I am very tired of that planet. Let's just say it's not fun any longer. The one Sith that survived the Korriban experience is in his low 30's, on Taris facing down the same boring "kill X Rakghouls" quests that I did on the Bounty Hunter. I really can't take him any place else to level, unless I run the same Flashpoints or Warzones I've already run, over and over and over. I rolled a few Republic toons. I even have two that are in the high 20's. Honestly, I don't like the Republic story lines. It seems like the writers weren't very excited writing for the Republic. Trooper story started out strong but then fizzled out, Jedi Knight story simply doesn't seem to go anywhere important... maybe I picked the wrong classes. Maybe I'm too picky, I expected the same depth I found on the Imperial side. (*no pun intended)
  18. I agree with this to an extent. I have always enjoyed both the leveling experience and the end game experience, with all enjoyable content being pretty much equal. The replay value of SWTOR, as it applies to alts, has been very discouraging so far. This will most likely change with the release of new planets. Let's see how quickly BioWare pushes them out to the players.
  19. Ryzom has, in my opinion, one of the best designed talent systems ever placed in an mmo (very similar to the old SWG talent trees, but much better). Not to mention the world is really well designed. If a major studio ever got their hands on it and updated the graphics engine, did some advertising it would be a popular game.

And to directly respond to xorcist, who asked how many mmo's I have been in at the start of, I would like to answer with the following: Total MMO's played from day One: 12 (not counting each reboot of Ryzom or any mmo expansions) Total MMO's beta tested: 6 Total expansions beta tested: 9 (including every WoW expansion) Worst mmo launch experienced: Tabula Rasa (unless you were there, you wouldn't believe how bad it was. You'd think anything I said was made up it was so outlandish) Also, I design Telecommunications systems for a living. I actually have a decent understanding of how complex systems interact and are interdependent upon one another. I realize a mmo is not an easy set of systems to deploy by any stretch of the imagination. Just sayin'

  22. Asparhruk, I fear you are correct in your conclusions concerning thempark mmo's. I'm guessing the days of developers attempting to make a truly virtual world are over. Still, I've waited almost 7 years for this mmo, ever since John Smedley gave the mmo community at large the giant middle finger. A few weeks of boredom may be discouraging, but I can give BioWare a few more months to see where they go.
  23. Back in my day... We didn't have forums to rant on. We talked smack all day long and if I didn't like what you said, I'd camp you with a rail gun until you logged off the server. Come to think of it, I did that regardless of if I liked you or not.
  24. Yeah, I'm feeling a bit misled by BioWare with the whole sales pitch of "over 200 hours of unique gameplay for each class". That's not exactly true, is it? You get maybe 3-4 hours of UNIQUE game play per class. I used to defend the game using this argument against people saying there wasn't much to do. I was wrong.
  25. I really hate to say this, but Dreossk sums the end game up perfectly. The worst part is if you roll another character, unless you switch factions your replay experience will be 95% identical to what you just played. I am quickly becoming disillusioned with SWTOR, however I will give BioWare time to adjust the end game.
