  1. Just weapons? I think you might be missing a few things like amulets, jewels, runes, sigils, utilities, elites, and traits. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Runes http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Amulet http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Category:Jewels http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sigil How many different endgame PvP gear sets and weapons does SWTOR offer exactly? Are you honestly going to try to argue that SWTOR offers more endgame customization via builds and gear?
  2. You either haven't played the game or you have and are somehow completely ignorant as to how it works. The GW2 sPvP sets offer far more customizaton through builds, weapon choice, and GEAR choices than another other game on the market. It's not even close. In fact, it's somewhat laughable.
  3. First, you say you don't like the out-of-the-box structured PvP in GW2 because it isn't "RPG" enough. Then you say you don't like world PvP because it's not competitive. You see, to me, you sound crazy because my definition of competitive doesn't include any system which allows for advantages based upon gear progression (gear choice is another matter completely). It seems that gear advantage based upon gear progression falls inside your definition of "competitive" gameplay. I'm not going to say you are right or wrong, but it's not likely we'll have any kind of meaningful exchange since we are working from two different definitions and viewpoints.
  4. Yes, agreed. It would be like server mergers except some people would get left behind on ghost town servers.
  5. Okay, that is reasonable if they pick the servers that you can transfer to and from for free wisely. It could have a similar effect to server mergers except some people are still likely going to get stranded on ghost-town servers and refuse to move. They might have to get evicted.
  6. Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else. I looked around a little but didn't find an answer. Server mergers are free. Cross-server queueing is free. Will the server transfers be free or will they require a fee like most other games? Server transfers will have the effect of making dead servers even more dead, forcing the players left on dead servers to either quit playing or transfer themselves. If the transers are not free, you could see where a cynical person, like myself, could come to the conclusion that you put in transfers before mergers or cross-server queues purely as a mechanism to soak cash from people on dying servers.
  7. The author of that blog had a full BM Vanguard before patch 1.2.
  8. Competitive at endgame. Levels 10-49 are obviously not endgame. Let's say you want to try out a different class, but you aren't sure you are going to like it at endgame. In SWTOR, you have to level to 50 and then gear up to see if it is going to be something you are happy with. In GW2, you roll a level 1 of that class and try out many different builds, weapons, and gear load outs to see if you want to play that class at endgame. Then, you level it if you like it. MMORPG developers have been treating the playbase like crap for so long you can't even realize a good thing when you see it. ;P
  9. Again, with this tired argument? What I mentioned is an OPTION. If you want to PvE, you can PvE in an enviroment that is far more challenging than SWTOR. If you want open PvP dependent on gear and level progression, then you can do World versus World PvP which is... oh, I don't know... about infinitely times better than the current state of PvP in Ilum. It's about having the option to play endgame PvP right out of the box that is so attractive. That is not the only style of gameplay available. A more standard type of MMORPG gameplay is also available. SWTOR does not give you those options. Thus, it dies with respect to PvP for those who want those options.
  10. And for those who want RPG and PVP they have World versus World which still emphasizes gear progression. Which is another aspect of PvP that I enjoy. With GW2 you actually get an OPTION as to which type of PvP you want to do. SWTOR will be dead to PvPers when GW2 comes out.
  11. It's not just getting the gear. Let's take a pre 1.2 full BM, for example. Did i stop once I got my full BM set? No. I had to get other pieces to rip out mods to fix my stats, because the stat distribution on the BM set sucked. It was horrible. When 1.2 hit, all of the stats on my BM gear were put back into retard mode. And, I couldn't fix it since they put expertise on everything which forces you to get more of the new gear to fix your stats again. Now, it would be foolish to put that kind of effort into fixing your BM gear. It needs to be saved for War Hero gear. You can't really start fixing yourself unless you have War Hero gear. I'm thinking a full War Hero toon with augments and adjusted mods is going to destroy someone in BM gear out-of-the-box. A competitive PvPer wants to be in the best gear they can possibly have not to have advantage over others but to know that they don't have a disadvantage against others. I'm not willing to grind to reach that level when there is a game on the horizon that will let me reach that level in a matter of minutes from rolling a level one character. SWTOR PvP is dead when GW2 comes out. Dead. The SWTOR developers won't be able to compete with what GW2 has to offer. IMO, they should turn 100% of their attention to PvE players.
  12. Correct. Taugrim already has a full BM Vanguard from before patch 1.2. When he is talking about a grind he is talking about the grind to War Hero. I have a fully BM pre-1.2 toon as well. I haven't even bothered to play him since 1.2 because I'm kind of sick of grinds. SWTOR is in big trouble, because GW2 allows you to roll a level 1 toon and immediately PvP with him at max level and gear. This is what PvPers want. We don't want gear grinds that artifically effect competition.
  13. Who are you? Do you have some videos of your gameplay?
  14. I'm going to be a little bit cynical here and point out that while mergers are free... transfers typically aren't. Get my drift.
  15. Since you are taking the position that you must have "pro level" accomplishments to give opinions on PvP would you mind posting your PvP resume with accomplishments included or at least give us a video to watch to see how good you are? I mean, why should I care about your opinion unless you can prove to me that you are pro.
  16. Yes. I have cover bound to mousewheel back, so I can react with it fairly quickly. Still lucky to have a cover spot close enough to roll into though.
  17. Hello, This is a short "entertainment" style video featuring some DA-Tranq and Cover tricks. This is one of my ALTs. I'm using a Dirty Fighting/Sawbones hybrid although I'm not high enough level in most of these clips for the HoT from Sawbones. Hope you enjoy.
  18. Praising and encouraging good work while encouraging those who do bad work to do better is exactly what this society needs.
  19. That's one of the harshest condemnations I've seen on WoW PvP in quite some time now. Here's the problem. It doesn't matter what your valor rank is or what rating you got in some other game. You've released a movie showing that you have a lot to learn when it comes to your gameplay. Yes, clicking abilities is bad. You will not be able to react as quickly as someone who does not click. You will not be able to move properly while using your abilities. It is a serious handicap. Your commentary is bad. Just mashing buttons and hoping something good happens isn't good advice. We've all been in situations where we panic. Panic usually ends with failure. It's when you manage to stay calm in bad situations that you are actually able to pull of something meaningful and memorable. I also find it odd that you call out others for an "elitist" attitude when your character name has "elite" in it. Seriously? Your aspect ratio is bad. Try looking up a tutorial on Youtube on setting aspect ratios for whatever software you used to edit the movie. FYI, I was going to cut you some slack until you made that 2800 WoW rating comment. As if that means anything. Heh.
  20. Another thing that is kind of stupid is equating how good your server is with these kind of damage screenshots. Most high damage screenshots are because of AoE and/or tab-target DoTs. So, when you post a screenshot with very high damage I'm wondering if your server is full of morons who don't move. I wouldn't be surprised if the Vanguard/PT was tactics using pulse cannon and mortar volley on cooldown.
  21. I love the e-peeners posting their L50 numbers not realizing this guy's screenshot is from a 1-49 bolstered warzone. Damage in 50 PvP can be ridiculous, things are much more normalized under 50. It's rare for people to get over 300K in 1-49. I've personally never seen someone get over 400K. However, I think it can be done since I have broken 300K quite a few times on a hybrid scoundrel with semi-decent gear. A full DPS build with best-in-slot gear should be able to break 400K. And by best-in-slot I mean full purples and augmented slots. What level was the player? Someone who is 48 or 49 and decked out with all the purples and toys will be on a different level than everyone else in the warzone.

  23. Any system where you can be stunned for 8 seconds while taking damage sucks.

    Made it Worse!

Largest crits I've seen in 10-49 have been around 3.5K damage. What are the largets crits in 50?
  25. I suggested this over a month ago and got my post deleted and a warning. For some reason, the moderators think JD's input is helpful to the community. This will probably get deleted as well, with another warning.
