  1. There seems to be two groups of people. Those who want PvP to be based upon skill and execution and those who want PvP to be based on time investment and gear. To each their own. If GW2 succeeds and other games follow their model then the two groups of people above will never have to meet again.
  2. Yes, it was a mistake on his part. He was probably coming in to try to knock me out of cover. He should have LoSd behind the miniwall, but he was rooted for some of the burst he took. Anyway, you are kind of making the case for me. He could have or probably should have won that fight, and the reason why would be the two bubbles I had to go through before damaging him.
  3. Well, as a mid-level sniper I've lost DPS races to some sorcs before 1.3. If you run across a sorc who is a good player with good gear they can get a substantial lead on the DPS race due to absorb shield. This sorc's main is a DPS Jedi Sage and was considered a top PvPer on the server forums, so he knows what he is doing. He has good gear and gets a huge lead due to absorb shield but loses on the backside of the fight. He could have easily won that fight. Looks balanced to me. At least from the MM perspective.
  4. How about this. Since they have fraps just have them post a movie of their gameplay so I can pick it apart. I'm not impressed that a Vanguard can kill people while clicking abilities due to their potential damage and ease of play. Let's see how he reacts to things going on around him. Let's see his reaction time. Let's see how he handles 1vNs. These are things good players look for when watching movies. And it's something that clickers can't deliver.
  5. Thanks for the feedback, and I agree that I'm not a top-teir gamer (to me that means a professional gamer). I just don't have the consistency to play at that level. However, it's probably the case that very few people who play at that level even play this game. Taugrim's situation is probably exacerbated by the fact that he recently got a new job and he has to put in extra time and work to make a good impression. So, his gameplay is going to suffer as a direct result of being an adult that has to put food on the table. I replied to one of Taugrim's tweets earlier today on this topic and I basically said that I love the combat, animations, sound and feel of SWTOR PvP. However, I loath gear-dependency grinds. I was one of the first people in full BM with fully remodded gear before WH was introduced. My reward was to get my gear nerfed and put back on another gear treadmill. I revolted by boycotting 50 PvP. I'll be moving on to GW2 since there I can participate in endgame PvP without having to sacrifice time to be competitive. If SWTOR had that option, I would stay with SWTOR because I prefer SWTOR's combat over GW2's combat. That is how important having fun is to me as opposed to grinding gear and cash in order to be competitive.
  6. This is not an ego thing. If someone asks for help or at least admits that they would be better if they learn to bind, then I will do my best to try to help them. For example, in the thread linked below someone realizes they can improve their play with binds and asks for help. And, he gets help. http://www.swtor.com/community/showpost.php?p=4745339&postcount=304 I help in these situations because I was in the same boat at one time long ago. The transition from mouse-clicking to using binds isn't easy but it is important for improving your gameplay. What annoys me, and this is VERY common, is when I see someone start making excuses or saying they can play just as well without binds as someone with binds and that is simply not true. You can not help these people because they refuse to admit that there is a problem.
  7. In the match I played, that percentage was reversed. Cover pulse only worked once in 5 uses.
  8. You are too ignorant to even recognize what the truth is.
  9. Thanks. Yeah, evasion isn't useless. I think between the three sniper movies I eat 4 ravage/master strikes in them but I don't always point it out. I had a cool clip where a gunslinger flash banged me. Knowing they would probably go straight into an aimed shot, I broke the CC and put up evasion and ate the aimed shot. It's a reaction-based skill since it only lasts a few seconds. You have to think about using like CC or an interrupt which means paying attention to what your opponent is doing to you. I accidentally deleted that clip, made me sad. The main reason I'm not doing 50s is that I will most likely be moving on to GW2 so the gear grind is just not worth it for me as a time investment. There is much less time investment, obviously, to keep yourself geared up to remain competitive in under50s.
  10. If you watched all of those videos and think that is bad gameplay then you are a bad player because a good player would recognize that what I'm doing is good. Watch the scoundrel movie and come tell me I'm "bad." Then again, you probably wouldn't even understand what's good about it.
  11. ★SNIPERTAINMENT★ Newest movie Patch 1.2 closeout. More crits, bigger crits. Reminisce about the glory days when cover pulse worked! Older movies You better run, better run. Outrun my gun. Also, new sniper ability revealed: Damage. All footage deceptively edited to make me appear to be much better than I really am. Also, Cover Pulse... Nooooooooooooooo....

  13. Thread summary: Bad player refuses to acknowledge his bad play and attempts to rationalize said bad play with walls of text.
  14. Yes, it is hard to change but it can be done. It just requires a bit of work and thought. If you manage to tough it out and retrain yourself you will wonder how in the hell you ever played the way you do now. It is that much better and really opens up potential for improving your gameplay. Trust us on this one.
  15. Force camo shoud also be on a 20 second cooldown.
  16. CCbreaker should be a high priority bind!
  17. The increased HP in this game now can't be understated. Classes reliant on burst damage are really going to be suffering as gear levels increase.
  18. I get it. Overanalyzing a teaser/trailer is a bit unfair but you probably shouldn't have put the "get ready for rated WZs" in between those last two clips (in particular). I understand that you probably just wanted to get this out and just didn't really have the content you would have liked at hand. Looking forward to the full length projects.
  19. That is going to be true in some cases. But, it is also true that there are many things you can do that go directly to winning a game that give you neither attacking nor defending points.
  20. Yes, ACW and NC are bad about this and it makes it miserable for the other people because they are then effectively fighting while outnumbered. I don't think this will ever change when it comes to PUGs. Sometimes you get in with good people, sometimes... yeah, not-so-good people.
  21. Understood, I think your mind is in the right place. Some people put way too much stock in the scoreboards, unfortunately. There isn't a perfect system for handling this other than just observing what other people are doing. If someone looks suspicious, just keep an eye on them and see what they do over several WZs. You can either try to help them privately by giving them some pointers or try to shame them into performing better on your server forums. However, the latter will typically end up with you getting a warning and having your post removed.
  22. Yeah, or again, maybe they are sacrificing their fun by hanging back somewhere and defending an objective to make sure it doesn't get ninjacapped. Sadly, this often happens to good players because bad players (the ones who should be stuck defending) are almost never willing to sacrifice themselves for the team.
  23. Capping like this often works if you hang out in stealth in a fight that you know your team is going to lose. After the enemy team moves off the people who are left that are defending will likely not have their CC break up. HOWEVER, no good team is going to have their players standing around all bunched up like that and no good defender is ever going to be standing RIGHT next to the objective. The clip with the three enemies at the very start of the match is surely a fail since their CC breaks are all going to be up. I would have just stayed back and tranqued them as they tried to cap. When that was no longer possible due to resolve I'd come out and attack them to delay them from capping as long as possible. The flash grenade at the open in that situation is not a good tactic because of the resolve it builds on all of them when you have to KNOW they are just going to break it. The appropriate thing to do there is delay them so you can get assistance. Its more about denying them the points than you capping the node in that situation. The last clip... why didn't you just stop the person from capping to begin with? You are a very good player, but some of these clips are highly misleading and/or pointless.
  24. Some insight as to what happened in a match can be gleamed from the scoreboard but it never tells the whole story. I dislike it when people point at the scoreboard as any kind of measure, except for who won, of course. I can tell you that my numbers suffer greatly when I decide to take one for the team and solo guard an otherwise unprotected objective or suicide repeatedly to buy time for the rest of my team to either take or defend an objective. My highest scores come when I am being totally selfish and focusing on numbers only.
