Well let's hope none of the people trying raiding for the first time ever come here and see how they are being described - as "idiots", "morons" etc. Otherwise, rather than learning from their experiences and striving to become better at it (thus adding to the available pool of good raiders), they'll probably just give up on the idea and go back to playing alts. What people should realise is that this situation was inevitable. Many of the people entering OPs/FPs through LFG will be doing so for the first time - for a lot of them this will even be their first MMO - such is the attraction of the IP. Some will have come from quiet servers where they couldn't get a group together even if they tried. Because of this I'd imagine many of them think that this kind of content is just the same as they have already played, just BIGGER, which is why (in their minds) it requires more people. I'm sure things will settle down and improve - provided those with experience have the understanding and patience to help those who want to learn, to get through their first couple of runs without rage-quitting on them mid-run. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are plenty out there who not only don't have a clue what to do, but don't care either, for them there is no help.

So you should, it's a nice little rhyme and sums up Bioware's approach to endgame quite succinctly.

The game has been out for less than a year and you are already falling into the 'have it all faster, bigger, NOW!' mentality that has screwed up Lotro - and you don't even have PtW yet. If the next patch is as asinine as this one I'll be the last of my original guild to say 'bye-bye'. This game is going to end up being as challenging as Farmville at this rate.

When did a discussion about 'gearscoring' become one about 'geargating'. Geargating is a barrier to content created by devs, gearscoring is a barrier to content created by players. Edit: I'll concede your point about having completely green gear and going in over your head, but we all know that isn't the sole example of exclusion that 'gearscoring' leads to. Edit 2: In hindsight, maybe I should have said 'Substandard' rather that 'Poor' in relation to gear in my original post...

Then why the need for a gear-score? If a horse's backside can gear itself up, what does gear prove? I see what you did there. It's called 'Painting yourself into a corner' btw.

Good player in poor gear > Poor player in Good gear. But how does a Poor player get Good gear I hear you ask? By getting lucky and being carried by the Good players, happens all the time. So how does the Good player only have Poor gear? Could be their first time, they have a job , or they've been unlucky and had more than their fair share of Poor players. tl;dr Gear means FA and you can't score for ability. Who knows, you may even PUG an absolute diamond healer who is just starting out, invite them to your guild, gear them up and end up with the best damn healer on your server....or you could kick them for having sub-standard gear.

'Those features' being what exactly? The LFG tool that Lotro introduced after 4 1/2 years? The cosmetic tab after (I don't recall exactly but I'm guessing 2 years?). Yes the Auction House is a major omission from SWT|OR, but then I'm going to say that story-driven voice-acted quest-chains are now a major omission from every other MMO in the market. Which would you rather have? Personally, I'm going with the awesome quest experience; there's always Ebay for the Auction House fix.

Three words/acronyms - Marketing VHS BETA.... Meme attack - your argument is invalid. In case you are too young to understand my point....Betamax was a superior videotape format in terms of image quality (which is why it was adopted by TV broadcasters) but VHS was marketed more successfully, so the majority of people bought a VHS compatible VCR, most of them never even knowing that they were buying into an inferior technolgy.

Sergiopitanga has just beaten me to one of these but anyhow; I suggest you do 2 things (specifically referencing Lotro) 1. Remove your rose-tinted spectacles 2. Go here and see how many bug-fixes / tweaks you can find in the first few months entries. (I don't think you'll find those monthly content additions you remember btw). I too am an ex-Lotro player and subscriber, from pre-release until October last year, when the focus on the store (a legacy of WB's takeover of Turbine) became too much for me to bear. I miss a feature or two that Lotro has for sure - the cosmetic tab being the primary one (customisable UI used to hold that position until 1.2). But you have to realise that SWTOR has been in development for a long time, and many of the features we take for granted in MMOs were not part of the landscape when the ground plan for this game was laid out. That being said, Bioware have had plenty of opportunity to see MMOs developing while they created the game - and that is why things like the customisable UI have been added. These things are not knocked-up over a weekend, they take months to develop and integrate into a game, and I am confident that similar features which are now considered standard MMO fare will continue to be delivered over the next few months. Of course if development appears to have stagnated in a couple of months time, then I shall be questioning whether I want SWTOR to be the recipient of my monthly MMO sub fee. But for the time being I am happy with what I am seeing. P.S. I think that anyone who expects a new to market MMO to incorporate all the current FotM features in current MMOs - plus a twist - is setting themselves up for a lifetime of disappointment.
