  1. I've recently replied to/bumped the original suggestion thread for exactly this idea (the one with the link in my sig.) The suggestion keeps coming up - so many people seem to want this and I have yet to hear a coherent argument against it (since those who don't want it don't have to use it if it is implemented!). So come on Bioware, gif toggle plox?!
  2. There have been a number of other threads recently on the same topic, a lot of them re-directing attention to this particular suggestion thread. Given that there has been a lot of other people mentioning it, considering this is not a game-breaking bug (which I understand need most attention at the moment), for a gameplay enhancement suggestion alone this thread has managed to build to over 150 replies and over 6,500 views, and the majority of posters seem to be in favour of this in some form or another. So when you do get round to implementing some suggestions, Bioware, can I politely request that something like this be implemented sooner rather than later? So many people would find this incredibly useful... and it wouldn't hurt anyone else who wouldn't want to use it anyway. It really is a no-brainer to please a large portion of your player-base without giving cause to upset anyone else, so pretty please can you give us an xp toggle?
  3. Yup, as per the link in my signature. So come on Bioware, give us something that those who want it would love, and those who don't want it wouldn't be damaged or adversely affected at all by it being implemented (since they would simply choose not to use it). Please?
  4. True, but if a security key makes it 99% secure instead of 90% secure isn't it worth it? Putting it another way, if your applied that logic to home security you would end up not bothering to shut your front door when you came home at night. After all, burglars can always get in through the window so even with the front door shut and locked no home is 100% secure, right? So no, no system can ever be 100% secure. But security keys make them considerably more secure, and that makes them worth having.
  5. No need to keep the disk in once installed, no.
  6. Me too - I know there are other high profile issues and bugs left to be sorted, but I would hope this wouldn't be too difficult to implement . As has been said numerous times before, those who want this would benefit hugely from it... and it wouldn't hurt those who don't!
  7. Hmmm... if this is true, my friend, somehow I doubt you need to worry about being required to do too many more dungeons and raids with your Guildmates
  8. An alternative response to those who answered the OP's question properly: "Well done, you weighed up the possibility (however small) that the original poster was making a serious enquiry, and decided that assuming he was and posting a proper answer was the nice thing to do - rather than taking a cynical, sarcastic and selfish approach and posting something snarky just to compensate for any sense of low self-esteem you may be suffering from."
  9. This has been asked before - unfortunately, the "\" key (the one that opens the customer help interface) cannot be unbound or remapped. Good job it is so far away from the "Enter" key... oh, wait...
  10. Just pray you never have cause to receive a holo from one of the Hutts *shudders* ... ...heads off to send a message to Master Satele Shan asking her to call back..
  11. Up to four pages and not locked yet? Or perhaps after Patch 1.1 locked threads are respawning instantly and granting valor...
  12. No doubt, but at least: If someone rolls Need and is challenged why (if it is an odd choice of item for their class), and they answer "my companion needs it", then the rest of the group can tell straight away that they have a ninja on their hands! . At least if the Need option is greyed out for items not useable by the character rolling, the number of times this would happen would be dramatically decreased, even though it is next to impossible to stamp out completely.
  13. Right idea, but not done that way... since Greed trumps Companion then there would be no reason to pick the companion option - people would just greed (or keep picking need). A better version (in my opinion) would be one I suggested earlier in this thread, with loot rolls in the following order of priority: Need: But cannot be chosen unless your character can actually equip/use the item, otherwise the option would be greyed out . Companion Need . Greed . (Pass) Greying out the option to pick Need if your character can't equip it would stamp out ninja'ing for the most part. I think so anyway.
  14. "My ninja friend used to selfishly gear his companions... then he took an arrow to the Need" Sorry, couldn't resist...
  15. 60 pages? Time for a summary: Many people think that it isn't fair to roll need for a companion if someone else needs it for a character. . Roughly the same number of people think it is perfectly fair to roll need for a companion if someone else needs it for a character . After 60 pages of argument, almost all people with opinion (1) still have opinion (1), and almost all people with opinion (2) still have opinion (2) . The accuracy of point (3) won't stop people arguing... . Some small voices occasionally point out that if groups are civil and agree loot rules beforehand, either opinion could be equally valid. They tend to get drowned out in the flamestorm, however... That cover everything?
  16. Yes, BW, please do! Scouring this and other threads of a similar nature, it is clear that content-completionists are not the only group who are desperate for this, since so are a lot of social players who use the game as a way to meet up and play with friends. If xp is gained at its current rates, then if one member of a group who play socially together can't get online then the others are for the most part hamstrung - if they play without their friend the chances are they will outlevel them! An xp toggle would be the perfect solution for this in my opinion: turn xp off when playing solo, turn it back on when the group is together. To quote an annoying meerkat friend of mine... simples!
  17. ... <rather proud of myself for not shooting into an open goal there..>
  18. Oh, if anyone with a G13 (or planning to get one) wants to make use of the same keyboard planner I used, I've put a link to the template here for anyone who wants to use it: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=177673
  19. Actually I would disagree with this - if at any time you want to boost your xp then PvP (if you are into that), repeating flashpoints and particularly space battles can always give you the xp leg-up you are looking for. What is more of a challenge is keeping your planetary quests challenging by not out-levelling them, particularly sub-level 30. It is a real shame that completionists are forced to skip content because of that fear, hence the option I supprt in my sig...
  20. I said this in another thread but it is extremely relevant here - there are so many useful abilities as a Scoundrel that I find having a Logitech G13 controller an absolute godsend... and I still use all the buttons! http://i348.photobucket.com/albums/q359/Kalthorine/SWTOR/G13SWTORplannerjpg.jpg
  21. Hi there, The only combos set on the keys (abilities marked with a "2") are triggered by using the SHIFT thumb key. On keys G5 and G12 the alternate main abilities reflect those on my cover bar. I have to say, I have hardly ever had a key misfire and the G13 keyboard is satisfyingly 'clunky' (meant in a good way) and solidly built. Definitely recommended.
  22. I agree completely that you shouldn't have to complete every quest on a planet to level, and I believe that (along with other ways to quickly level such as space battles, repeated flashpoints, PvP etc.) is wonderful for levelling alts or for people eager to level quickly and get to higher levels as soon as possible. No argument there, the option to do that should remain for everyone happy with the way things are... I would never want to impose my preferred way of playing on anyone else. However, you should have the option to take your time and complete as much content as you want first time through if you want to - while the experience is still fresh and exciting - without constantly having to check your xp, miss bonus quests, avoid space battles, avoid 'extra' side quests etc. just in order to maintain challenge in your gameplay. An xp toggle would give you the opportunity to do that (and, again, would do so in a way that doesn't harm the game experience for anyone else).
  23. This is the only valid argument against an xp toggle that makes any sense to me, but there are a number of simple answers to this, any of which I would be in favour of (singly or in combination): Option 1: Once you hit, for example, level 45 you are no longer able to toggle xp off at all. . Option 2: Once you hit, for example, level 40 you are no longer able to toggle xp off during warzones . Option 3: While xp is turned off, you cannot gain any Valor or other rewards from PvP play. Any (or all) of the above would make this option seem suddenly a lot less attractive to the potential twink abusers out there, and still make the option just as attractive for the PvE completionists among us.
